Although the story is still kept under wraps, a picture of Gal's costar Chris Pine from the sets, which has been deleted in the meantime, reveals that at least part of the movie might be set in World War I!  And here's some lovely Agatha Christie news: 20th Century Fox has hired legendary Kenneth Branagh to both direct and star in the new movie version of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS! Branagh will not only direct and star as Hercule Poirot, but will also produce with Ridley Scott! As 'Deadline' reports, famous for its labyrinthine plot and unconventional solution, the story first published in 1934 sees detective Poirot stranded on the famous train during a terrible snowstorm in a town in Yugoslavia. 3. in Vinkovci, it is a very intriguing place, because although it is small and totally obscure, it is a crossroads to almost all of the biggest train routes from all parts of Europe, from west to east, north to south.

  2. Fingers crossed for Wonder Woman. DC has not had a stellar track record on the big screen, and has a lot to learn from Marvel, but I'm hoping she succeeds.

    1. Didn't they have Batman, the most lucrative movie franchise ever, and also Superman who broke tons of record with Henrylicious Cavill?

  3. I still am not fully on board with their choice for Wonder Woman. She is just too thin. They should have picked someone with more of an Amazonian build, like WW is supposed to look like. But that's Hollywood for you. Let's not glamorize women who don't have a Barbie body. pft!

    1. I'm not either, she is model looking type... they've just recently revealed photos of that Megan actress, forgot her surname, who was supposed to play her a few years ago and that is real Wonder Woman.

    1. we did have many wonder women here in my country fighting against Kaiser in WWI... most of them became generals later on in a country which, leaving the war with million dead, was left with almost no men in many towns and villages.

  5. Not sure about WW yet. Not really a hero I know much about as I can barely remember the original series tbh. Looking forward to hearing more about it though

  6. Murder on the Orient Express has got my attention. I saw your comment saying it is filmed in your former town. It will be interesting to see that.

Love the trailer for War and Peace. It's got to be big and epic to work. Tolstoy spent a great deal of time describing the settings and you just can't ignore their importance. I think that book had the biggest impact of any book on me as a person. It sent me off early in my youth to consider the nature of man and to begin reading the works of the great philosophers.

    1. No, not filmed, but the Christie's story is set there :) The place where the train stops in the middle of blizzard is Vinkovci in Slavonia.

Tolstoy had a great impact on me too. I think I read almost all of his, Dostoevsky's and Gogol's works as a teen. And to think that today's teens read dystopian crap....

  7. Looking forward both to the Wonder Woman movie and seeing Kenneth Branagh as Poirot. He will bring some new perspective and gorgeous visuals to Murder on the Orient Express, I'm sure, that old chestnut.
