If you are looking for something appropriately religious to watch this Easter Sunday, earlier this week, a few days ago, Netflix has released new documentary series TESTAMENT: THE TRUE STORY OF MOSES which is available for streaming as of March 27th. After the success of Alexander: The Making of a God, this is their new high end historical documentary series in the form of a three episode docudrama which mixes live action sequences with the narration from the experts who tell the story of the biblical patriarch who trusted God and led his people out of Israel. Among the contributors are Rachel Adelman of Hebrew College, Pete Enns of Eastern University, Tom Kang of New Story Church, and Andy C. Lewter of Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. 

 

THIS NEW DOCUDRAMA FOLLOWS

 the journey of Moses from outcast and outlaw to deliverer of the Israelites and messenger of God from the banks of the Nile to Mount Sinai to the Red Sea and includes viewpoints of different faith traditions, including traditional, historic Christianity. With Charles Dance as the narrator and actor Avi Azulay in the titular role, the cast also includes Dominique Jade Tipper as Zipporah, famous Turkish actor Mehmet Kurtulus as Pharaoh, Ishai Golan as Aaron, Reymonde Amsellem as Miriam, Tülay Günal as Bithiah, Melis Ulaş as Jochebed, Oberon K.A. And what would any Hallmark line up be without the most gorgeous one among them all - Andrew Walker, who stars in CURIOUS CATERER: FOILED PLANS over at Hallmark Mystery April 26th with Nikki DeLoach. Like some of the Jane Austen movies last  February, this one will also bring us some period set costumes when Goldy Berry's Medieval feast at Hyde Castle gets interrupted by a murder. She teams up with Detective Shultz to solve the mystery before the murderer strikes again. This is the fourth film in the Curious Caterer series based on Diane Mott Davidson's books.

French Gaumont will make a TV series about the rise of the iconic GUCCI brand which will follow the company’s beginnings with founder Guccio Gucci and delve into the conflicts that ensued within the fashion family dynasty that led to the sale of their empire. Gucci family will produce the series which starts with Guccio Gucci who worked as a bellboy at the Savoy Hotel in London, where he became inspired by the luxury leather suitcases carried by British aristocrats. In 1921, he opened his first retail location in Florence and his four sons were soon brought into the family business. Aldo, the eldest of the five sons, opened the first Gucci boutique in Rome in the 1930s. His intuition and innovative use of quality materials turned Gucci into the iconic brand. Long-simmering family feuds over the course of the following decades ultimately caused the family-controlled brand to be sold in the early 1990s to French conglomerate Kering.

Under the direction of the demanding, driven Dr. Guthrie (Fiennes), the Choral recruits a crop of teenage boys and girls. Together they discover the joys of singing and the urgency of desire as the new boys come to terms with their imminent conscription into the army. The pic explores the humor and humanity at the heart of a community facing an uncertain future.

France Television and Paramount + have given us the first image of Jean Dujardin in new French language ZORRO series which will air later this year. Set in 1821 it sees Don Diego de la Vega/Zorro become mayor of Los Angeles to improve his beloved city. However, the city is facing financial trouble due to a local businessman and Diego soon discovers his powers as mayor are not enough to fight injustice. Having not used his Zorro identity for 20 years, he revives his alter-ego but struggles to balance his dual identity, causing strain on his marriage with his wife unaware of his secret. Cast also includes Audrey Dana, Salvatore Ficarra, André Dussolier, Eric Elmosnino and Grégory Gadebois. The series is not to be confused with the Prime Video one or with the Russian one.

Directed by Ben Taylor and spanning from 1968 to 1978, it will follow three trailblazers facing opposition from the church, state, media and medical establishment, in their pursuit of the world’s first ‘test tube baby’, Louise Joy Brown. The three figures are a young nurse (Thomasin McKenzie), a visionary scientist (James Norton) and an innovative surgeon (Bill Nighy)! The film is coming soon, but no date yet.
