TRAILER WITH RHYS IFANS AND LAURA LINNEY IN BBC ONE FEATURE LENGTH MOVING DRAMA ONWARDS AND SIDEWAYS

BBC One has released first trailer for their new feature length drama ONWARD AND SIDEWAYS which stars Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans in a touching story about two people with lots in common - a great sense of humour, a love of dance, and Parkinson’s. Rhys plays Tony Evans, the deputy head of a local primary school. Laura stars as Emma Dretzin, a pianist, composer and single mother of two daughters. Neither knows the other until a startling encounter changes the course of their lives: on the same morning, they are both confronted with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s. This film is their story - a friendship which unfolds unexpectedly. A story of humour and emotion, of challenge and courage, of music and dance - transcending the assumptions of a little understood condition, and triumphing over the odds to find joy, release and love. Joining Laura and Rhys are Monica Dolan, Rory Kinnear and Paul Mayhew-Archer. BBC One has sent us first image revealing the lead cast of their and BritBox new ten part series THE DETECTION CLUB with Miles Jupp, Bryony Hannah and Cara Theobold in the leads. Set against a backdrop of literary glamour, social change and deadly intrigue, it follows the mysterious society formed by three of Britain's most celebrated crime writers Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and G.K. Chesterton, as they are drawn into a series of real-life murder investigations. In 1930s London, these legendary crime writers hone their craft within the hallowed walls of a secret London location. After receiving an invitation that leads them to their first real murder case, our famous trio work together to solve a series of exciting mysteries. Their amateur sleuthing brings them into the path of D.I. Greenway (Viraj Juneja), an out-of-his-depth young police detective whose determination to prove himself is both helped and hindered by our writers’ extraordinary instincts.

Straight from Wales come first images from BBC's new spooky series THE WITCH FARM a ghost story and mystery set in the Welsh countryside based on real events and starring Gabrielle Creevy, Michael Socha and our dearest Edward Holcroft. The series will arrive soon to BBC One. 
THE STORY IS SET IN
 South Wales, 1989. Bill (Socha), Liz (Creevy) and their teenage son Jonathan (Lewin Lloyd) leave London for Heol Fanog, a remote modern farmhouse in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, determined to make a fresh start. At first, the isolation feels like freedom. But when frightening, inexplicable things begin to happen around the house and a strange figure begins to appear, the family starts to feel increasingly scared. What follows is a steady escalation ofthe chillingly uncanny - unexplained disturbances and an unsettling sense that they are not alone. As Bill and Liz begin to investigate, the house draws them deeper into a history that refuses to stay buried. LEAD CAST SET FOR BBC'S TV SERIES ADAPTATION OF POPULAR SF NOVEL MINISTRY OF TIME

More than two years ago I told you that BBC is turning Kaliane Bradley's popular sf novel MINISTRY OF TIME into a six part TV series and now we have the cast: Aoife Hinds (the nepochild of Ciaran Hinds) will star as Sophy and Billy Howle as Commander Graham Gore. The Ministry of time is a newly established government department gathering
The series will have six episodes
‘expats’ from across history in an experiment to test the viability of time-travel. Our heroine Sophy achieves a hard fought promotion in the civil service, only to learn that her role is to help a time traveller acclimatise to the modern world as part of a top secret Ministry programme. Commander Graham Gore is a Victorian polar explorer and one of several ‘expats’ from history who are now part of the Ministry’s extraordinary experiment. The professional friendship between Sophy and Graham develops into an intense forbidden romance that reveals the transporting power of love across centuries, just as the sinister nature of the Ministry’s true intentions increasingly puts them in danger.

BBC One and MGM + have issued first trailer for their TV series adaptation of Charles Dickens' A TALE OF TWO CITIES. The four parter will be set in London, 1782. Tensions run high in the war between France andBritain. A young woman, Lucie Manette (Mirren Mack) has her life upended when she receives a message from Paris - her father, assumed dead for almost 20 years, may be alive. The messenger, idealistic French emigré, Charles Darnay (François Civil), is arrested and charged with treason. Lucie enlists the help of a brilliant but erratic young lawyer, Sydney Carton (Kit Harington), to free Darnay in the hope he will lead her to Paris to track down her father. Lucie’s collision with Darnay and Carton unleashes a powerful and complex love triangle. Both men fight to be worthy of her love, and Lucie is torn over which one to choose. Yet neither man - physically so alike, spiritually poles apart - can escape the other. Instead, they find themselves bound together in life and death, through triumphs, tragedies, marriage, and murder. The series will arrive September 6th on MGM+.

British Broadcaster BBC One has released first images and a trailer for their new psychological thriller TV series THE RAPTURE adapted from Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel. The five parter is a high-stakes thriller which crackles with danger. Set in a heatwave, with protestors on the streets, forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio). Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (Sam Hazeldine), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religiousmovement. Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future - but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did? The cast also includes Iwan Rheon, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lisa Palfrey, Siena Kelly, Naby Dakhli, Richard Elis, Dean Rehman, Robert Rhodes and Ruth Jones.

Channel 5 has released first image from their new mystery series LAST RESORT which follows retired librarian Gail (Caroline Quentin) as she takes her sister, Joy (Niamh Cusack), to an idyllic holiday town in what is supposed to be a fun-filled bucket list trip. Sadly, Joy is suffering from the early stages of dementia, so the sisters are keen to get the most out of every moment they have left together, inviting longtime friends Dee (Tessa Peake-Jones) and Charlie (Jason Watkins) along for the ride. However, these best-laid plans quickly go awry when tragedy strikes the local community, with police being quick to declare an unfortunate accident – but the group are convinced it is murder and set out to prove it. As old crimes surface and dark patterns emerge, the group of friends finds that this seemingly idyllic resort town – with its beach walks, pub lunches, and good-natured bickering – hides something far more sinister. Together they must piece together one devastating mystery and track down a killer who has been hunting in this close-knit coastal community and beyond! John Hannah plays a cop. 
 
THE OTHER BENNET SISTER XMAS SPECIAL
BBC is, meanwhile, wishing you a Mary Christmas! Their popular costume drama THE OTHER BENNET SISTER is returning for a three-part special this Christmas. Ella Bruccoleri returns as Mary, with a host of other familiar faces from the series. The series offers a fresh take on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Forced to step out of her sisters' shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way. BritBox is airing it in USA. 
 
 
LEANNE SEASON TWO ARRIVES AUGUST 
Netflix has announced the return of their multicamera sitcom LEANNE for August 27th with Leanne Morgan returning as Leanne whose world is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years unexpectedly leaves her for another woman. Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Kristen Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter and hope in the most unexpected places. Lainey Wilson, Jaime Pressley and Billy Gardel are guest stars in the new season.

BBC REVEALS FIRST IMAGES FROM SALLY PHILLIPS COSY VILLAGE CRIME TV SERIES HAIRDRESSER MYSTERIES OUT THIS JULY

BBC has sent us first images from their new mini TV series THE HAIRDRESSER MYSTERIES with Sally Phillips leading the six part drama out this July. Infused with an upbeat 1970s spirit, the nostalgic crime drama sees her play a hairdresser, Lily Petal who opts out of the competitive city scene to buy a small village hairdressing salon at the top of a cobbled street. Charlotte Jordan plays Clary Coombs, Lily’s bright and analytical assistant and the Watson to her Shear-lock Holmes. Ben Castle-Gibb plays PC Adam Watson, an eager young copper in the local village who falls head-over-heels for salon assistant Clary. Sunetra Sarker plays Wincey Evans, the village’s local chit-chatter with a reputation as a known gossip. Clive Rowe plays Lonnie, the flamboyant manager of the local charity shop and Guy Henry plays Race Runard, the local village’s eccentric antiques dealer with a penchant for priceless teacup and saucer sets. An array of guest stars will also appear through the series including Wendi Peters who plays Gloria Crudd, another newcomer to the village hoping to make a fresh start with her ice cream parlour but soon finds her old life catching up with her. Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she becomes the hub of her new village’s secrets and revelations. Using her own brand of uncannily developed hairdressing intuitive, empathy and understanding, Lily begins to solve the mysteries of the village.

BBC AND BRITBOX FIND THEIR HERCULE POIROT FOR THE NEW AGATHA CHRISTIE SERIES ON THE FAMOUS DETECTIVE

Well, they lost my interest with that boring casting: BBC has announced that they have cast Edward Bluemel as Agatha Christie’s iconic Belgian
Edward Bluemel is new Hercule Poirot, sadly
 detective in new drama series HERCULE – produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited for the BBC and BritBox North America. The six part series is an intimate study of Hercule the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars. The series takes a magnifying glass to three of Christie’s most celebrated stories, while also charting Hercule’s burgeoning friendship with Captain Arthur Hastings, his early encounters with Scotland Yard’s James Japp, and introducing him to one particular nemesis… Filming begins this summer.

I told you last year that BBC was working with Catherine Shepherd on TWO WEEKS IN AUGUST thriller series that tells the story of a woman who goes on holiday to Greece with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life and today we have a trailer for you as well. We thought BBC might actually save it for August, but the eight part series starts May 23rd! According to Variety, Lenny Abrahamson is set to direct a small screen adaptation of David Nicholls' best selling novel YOU ARE HERE for British broadcaster BBC. To start shooting this summer, it revolves around Michael and Marnie, middle aged and lonely divorcees who find themselves brought together on a long distance walking trail across northern England by both a persistent mutual friend and some very unpredictable weather. Over the course of 10 days and 200 miles, they discover exactly what they’ve been looking for. His novels Us and One Day have already been adapted previously into TV series. Speaking of TV series, House of Guinness has been renewed for a second season over at Netflix earlier today and will be shooting early next year.

BBC One has set cast for their new six part sf thriller series SUTHERLAND set at Sutherland, the far north of Scotland, in the near future. Mirren (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) works at Paravel Space Hub as flight director for the UK's first crewed mission to the stars. Everything is going to plan when, just hours after launch, a series of unexplained events engulf Sutherland in mystery and risks destroying everything Mirren’s been striving for. As a decades old conspiracy begins to resurface, local detective Logan (Stuart Martin) is unexpectedly pulled back into Mirren's orbit. When Logan’s investigation and Mirren’s mission threaten to unravel, the pair join forces to make an extraordinary discovery that will change their lives forever. Iain De Caestecker also stars.
