FIRST IMAGES FROM THE SECOND SEASON
The first season scored success for BBC in UK so the second season of wartime series SAS: ROGUE HEROES is ready to get back on the broadcaster sometime soon and to MGM+ in USA. In the new season Jack O’Connell, Connor Swindells, Sofia Boutella and Dominic West are joined by new cast members Gwilym Lee, Con O’Neill, Mark Rowley, Jack Barton and others.

ORIGINALLY INSPIRED BY
Ben Macintyre’s best-selling book of the same name, series two returns to action with the troops in Spring 1943. Paddy Mayne (Jack O’Connell) takes control of the SAS following David Stirling’s (Connor Swindells) capture, and now attention must turn from the conflict in North Africa to mainland Europe. But GHQ have cast doubt over the future of the regiment, while the creation of a second unit and an influx of new arrivals make things even more difficult for the men. Can they prove that the SAS remain essential to the war, wherever it may lead them?

WHO IS IN THE SQUAD NOW?
Gwilym Lee joins the cast as Bill Stirling, David Stirling’s brother and founder of the 2SAS regiment, while Con O’Neill appears as General Montgomery. Theo Barklem-Biggs, Corin Silva, Jacob Ifan, Jacob McCarthy, Stuart Campbell, and Bobby Schofield also return for duty in series two. Among the brigade’s new recruits are Mark Rowley and Jack Barton, who will play SAS members Jock McDiarmid and John Tonkin respectively. Further new cast members include Stuart Thompson, Paolo De Vita, Anna Manuelli, Edward Bennett and Matteo Franco.

  1. We don't sub to MGM+ but if we did, this would be one that Jason would like.

    1. The first season was nice, very good cast, even though the characters are insane, but the real ones were insane too LOL

  2. It's fun when they make a movie or series based off a book. I have several books that I've read that would make for a good series. Aliens, demons and bear shifters, oh my! LOL

  3. Let’s hope SAS Rogue Heroes Series 2 is as good as Series 1. Once you get past the first two episodes the SAS Rogue Heroes Series 1 is dynamite and lives up to Ben Macintyre's standards. SAS Rogue Heroes (or just Rogue Heroes outside the UK) is a must watch for war and espionage aficionados. The book is a must read as well and should keep you glued to your seat.

Ben Macintyre interviewed dozens of serving and retired SAS personnel prior to drafting the best-selling book upon which the celluloid version is based. The silver screen version was put together by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Both Macintyre and Knight do much more than just preserve their reputations so far as Rogue Heroes goes. The incredible true story behind the formation of the world’s greatest Special Forces unit, the SAS, is gripping, tense, and ideal for a TV drama adaptation.

The action packed scenes and characterization of some of the maverick renegades in SAS Rogue Heroes remind us of the true life exploits of MI6’s Pemberton’s People, a bunch of MI6 scoundrels if ever there was one. They were involved in the creation of SAS 22 Regiment in Malaya in 1952 and later included the MI6 spy Bill Fairclough (MI6 codename JJ) aka Edward Burlington in Bill Fairclough’s fact based Beyond Enkription in The Burlington Files espionage series. Do have a look at an intriguing news article dated 3 May 2024 in TheBurlingtonFiles website about this motley mob of ungentlemanly officers et al and read about Pemberton’s People in Beyond Enkription.

If you are interested in Colonel Alan Brooke Pemberton CVO MBE, Brigadier Scrubber Stewart-Richardson of Mujaheddin notoriety, Major Freddy Mace, Churchill's bodyguard Roy Richards, SAS Colonel Peter Goss, Bill Fairclough, the Malayan Emergency, 22 SAS Regiment, Kim Philby, Field Marshal Montgomery and John le Carré that article is a must read as is the fact based thriller Beyond Enkription.
