  'THE GILDED AGE' EPIC
 DRAMA REVEALS FIRST CAST!
Cynthia Nixon will be Ada Brook
After many years of delay, the production is finally ready to start and the cast has been announced for Julian Fellowes' period set series THE GILDED AGE which will follow the lives of the millionaire titans of New York City in the 1880s!  Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Amanda Peet and Morgan Spector are the first cast members!

The Story Begins in 1882 – introducing young Marian Brook, the orphaned daughter of a Southern general, who moves into the home of her rigidly conventional aunts in New York City. Accompanied by the mysterious Peggy Scott, an African American woman masquerading as her maid, Marian gets caught up in the dazzling lives of her stupendously rich

neighbours, led by a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife struggling for acceptance by the Astor and Vanderbilt set. Will Marian follow the established rules of society, or forge her own path in this exciting new world that is on the brink of transformation into the modern age?

Christine Baranski will be Agnes van Rhijn, a proud and stubborn aristocrat who will never accept that the world has changed, and that ancient values are being replaced by new ones. She found herself penniless as her parents’ plantation was foundering, even before the war, but she managed to catch a husband just in time. Agnes has a son named Oscar, whom she worships, but her worship is not returned. Cynthia Nixon is Ada Brook, another victim of the collapse of

the old south, but unlike her sister Agnes, she never found a way to get out until it was too late, and she was forced back on her sister’s charity. She is not naturally confrontational, but she is capable of standing up for what she believes. Amanda Peet will play middle class Bertha Russell who backed her instincts when she set out to catch her husband George, the son of a merchant family who has proved to be a financial genius. She is determined to use her money and position to break into a society that resists change at every turn. Morgan Spector will portray George Russell, a classic robber baron of his own time, but pleasant enough in company. He’s fond of his wife and his children, but utterly ruthless in business. He has already acquired millions, and billions will follow. In every challenge, George must win.

ANDREW BUCHAN, RAY STEVENSON JOIN THE SECOND AND THE FINAL PART OF THE SPANISH PRINCESS EPIC TV SAGA AT STARZ!

  'THE SPANISH PRINCESS'
HIRES A FEW NEW COURTIERS
I'm sure you will all agree that this year's White Princess continuation THE SPANISH PRINCESS was an embarrassing disaster, filled with terrible writing, poor casting and the worst acting we've ever seen on the small
Andrew Buchan is no stranger to epic drama
screens, but for some reason Starz did not cancel it but is currently shooting eight more final episodes that will close the whole affair and finish it for good. And now they've added some new names for the final season and among them are some of our favourite Brits: Andrew Buchan (as upwardly mobile Sir Thomas More), Ray Stevenson (as Henry's boorish brother in law, King James IV of Scotland) alongside Sai Bennett (as Henry's sister Princess Mary now of age to forge a political alliance for the Tudors through her own marriage) and Peter Egan (as Tudor stalwart General Howard). Sadly, Charlotte Hope and Stephanie Levi John, who have shocked us with their atrocious efforts in acting and utter lack of charisma in the first part, return to their roles of Catherine of Aragon and her lady in waiting, with bland Ruairi O’Connor as king Henry VIII.

  The Second Part
Based, very loosely, and historically ridiculously inaccurate, on the books by Philippa Gregory, the series continues the story of Queen Catherine and Henry VIII. Presiding over the most glamorous court in Europe and beloved by their people, together
Ray Stevenson recently starred in The Musketeers adaptation
they create an England that is proud, confident and strong enough to withstand threat from abroad. Catherine’s struggle to produce an heir places her marriage and position in the court at risk, and she is haunted by her

choices from the past. Despite proving herself a politician, a diplomat, a national inspiration and even a military commander, Catherine must battle to save her love with the King, and to preserve the peace and prosperity of their reign.

The Warrior Queen Of Jhansi
also starring Ben Lamb and directed by female director Swati Bhise (the producer of Dev Patel's The Man Who Knew Infinity), is a sweeping historical tale of women's empowerment, which brings the true story of Lakshmibai (played by Indian star Devika Bhise whom you have watched before in The Accidental Husband and The Man Who Knew Infinity with Dev Pathel and Jeremy Irons), the historic

Queen of Jhansi who fiercely led her army against the British East India Company in the infamous mutiny of 1857. From Queen Elizabeth to Queen Victoria, two-and a half centuries of East India Company rule will be reversed by its attempt to crush India's Warrior Queen. Lakshmibai is known as one of the most prominent figures within the independence movement of India. The passion to free her province from colonial rule led this young woman to become one of the greatest generals of the Indian army and to go down in history for her bravery, strategic acumen, and as a force to reckon with by the East India Company and the British Raj. The Warrior Queen of Jhansi is the story of the woman who lived, fought and died for the freedom of her people.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post on another great female ruler!
