Netflix has released first images from their animated movie RAY GUNN from director Brad Bird who previously did The Incredibles franchise. The film is a blend of sci-fi and classic detective movies from the ’40s and has the story set in Metropia, a gigantic city in an alternate future as seen from 1939, where our lead character private eye Raymond Gunn is drawn into a case involving aliens, murder, and a multimedia star named Venus Nova. Coming from Skydance Animation the film will stream later this year. Sam Rockwell lends his voice to the titular character, with Scarlett Johansson as Venus Nova and Tom Waits also in the voice cast.

Netflix has released a very colourful trailer for their new animated original film SWAPPED which will be available for streaming from May. It is their collaboration with Skydance Animation, a buddy comedy set deep inside the animal kingdom, with the story revolving around a tiny woodland creature and a majestic, regal bird. Being natural sworn enemies in “The Valley,” their lives are turned completely upside down when a body swap mishap forces them into each other’s fur and feathers. They must team up to survive the wild ecosystem and embark on the wildest adventure of their lives. The creatures of the magical valley exist on a spectrum between plant and animal, creating a wild ecosystem. The movie brings an unpredictable, emotional ride — full of humor, spectacle, and heart. Michael B. Jordan lends his voice to the lead character.

In the face of acute danger if they were caught in the act, Belgian resistance group the Independent Front published a spoof edition, satirizing the German occupiers and their propaganda-controlled newspaper, which came to be known as the Le Faux Soir (The False Soir).

It is an animated musical with an original score from Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater and it centres on a young girl who sets out to break the spell that has divided her kingdom in two. Set in Lumbria, a world of magic where a young girl named Ellian must break a spell that has split her kingdom and transformed her parents into monsters! Directed by Vicky Jenson it has Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, Nathan Lane and John Lithgow in the voice cast!

Straight from Variety come the first posters for an unusual hybrid movie THE BIG WAR from actor and director Matthieu Kassovitz. The film itself will be live action only the animal characters

The Big War should arrive in late 2026

in it will be animated. Inspired by the iconic two-part graphic novel “La Bête Est Morte,” written by Edmond François Calvo during the Nazi occupation of France during World War II and published just after the liberation of Paris, THE BIG WAR is directed by the famous French actor. The live action scenes will be shot next summer and then the animators will use CGI to create the animated characters before the film hits cinemas sometime in 2027 or Christmas 2026. This epic 30 million euro movie, set in the World War II is described by Kassovitz as a Paddington meets Saving Private Ryan. The English language movie will is planned as a family blockbuster that explains the war with humor, emotions and action. It’s the story of the Second World War where Americans are buffalos, the French are little rabbits, Germans are wolves, Italians are hyenas, Brits are handsome English dogs and Russians are brave white bears.

Richard Curtis directs based on his own trilogy of Christmas books for children. It is interesting that British pop sensation Ed Sheeran has written a special song Under the Tree especially for this movie so you can look forward to a nice tune as well. Directed by Chris Sanders it is the last movie done within the studio, as the next ones will be ordered from outside studios. It will later stream on Peacock and then on Netflix as well.

MO GILLIGAN lends his voice to Beckett, a pampered and selfish cat who totally takes for granted the lucky hand he has been dealt. All that is about to change, however, when he carelessly loses his ninth life. Faced with the inevitable, he pleads to be allowed to return to his perfect life. In a moment of exceptional empathy, the Gatekeeper allows him to return to earth with a new set of lives but not quite in the same body…. What he doesn't realise immediately however is that each of these new lives will see him return in a variety of different forms each one teaching him a valuable and timely lesson. It is a journey that sees Beckett turn from gloriously self-absorbed pet to a self-sacrificing hero; because sometimes you must travel many different roads to find the very best version of yourself!
