Beta has announced that one of  the most epic European productions of all times, historical series RISE OF TH RAVEN will have its world premiere October 22nd at this year's Mipcom in Cannes, which is just in two days, and to celebrate it they have released a long trailer too and a series of character posters! The series will air next year. So far, we know it will air on TV2 in Hungary and Slovenia and ORF in Austria. I will inform you as soon as we hear news of other international broadcasters or a possible big streamer. THIS TEN PART SERIES EPIC TV SERIES

 depicts the extraordinary real-life feat of Hungarian army commander Janos Hunyadi (Gellért L. Kádár), who turned back the tide of the Ottoman Empire’s seemingly unstoppable advance into Europe when back in 1456 he won a bloody Battle of Belgrade against a vast Ottoman force twice the size of his troops who were sometimes armed with just slings and patriotic fervor. To this very day church bells ring every day at noon in honour of this victory. Franciska Törőcsik plays his first love Mara, Serbian princess, who had to marry Ottoman Sultan Murad (Murathan Muslu) in order to protect her people.

 

WHO IS IN THE CAST?

Alongside Hunyadi, played by Gellért L. Kádár stands his wife, Elizabeth Szilagyi, portrayed by Vivien Rujder. They are joined by a stellar international cast, including Austria’s Laurence Rupp as King Albert II,  Murathan Muslu, as sultan Murad II, Serbian Hollywood star Rade Serbedzija who plays Serbian despot Djuradj Brankovic, Mara's father, and Giancarlo Giannini. The series is based on a series of books by Ban Mor. Judging by the trailer the series will have a lot of historical inaccuracies, including Despina Mara dressed as an exotic sex slave in sultan's harem. In real history, she wasn't his concubine, but his official wife and sultana and remained true to her faith till death. She dressed in Serbian chaste clothes surrounded by an entourage of Orthodox monks and nuns and later on became one of the most respected noble women in Europe with her own court in Jezhevo.

Well, that seriously increases the hunk factor in it: Lee Pace has just joined Glen Powell in the new remake of sf classic THE RUNNING MAN which originally starred Arnold Schwarzenneger. Edgar Wright is directing the adaptation of Stephen King’s futuristic novel, a chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025. The story centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who participates in violent reality show called The Running Man in order to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter. The show follows Richards being chased by numerous hunters sent to kill him. Josh Brolin as a villain, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian and Daniel Ezra are also in the film which will have a November 21, 2025 release!

ABC has decided to replace the character of Nick, played by Froy Gutierrez, by a completely new character in Tim Allen's upcoming new multicamera sitcom SHIFTING GEARS. Seann William Scott will play Gabriel, a family friend of Matt (Tim Allen) and Riley (Kat Dennings) who works in the shop with Matt. To start shooting next month, it sees Allen starring as Matt, the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter, Riley, and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins. Nick, Matt’s son and Riley’s game coder younger brother, will not be part of the series and will be replaced by the character of Gabriel. Netflix has released first teaser for Taron Egerton's new action packed thriller movie CARRY-ON which will stream December 13th also starring Jason Bateman with Logan Marshall Green and Sofia Carson also in the cast. Written by T.J. Fixman and Michael Green, this new movie follows a young TSA agent as he fights to outsmart a mysterious traveler who blackmails him into letting a dangerous package slip onto a Christmas Eve flight. CARRY-ON is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who’s no stranger to airplane danger; he previously directed the Liam Neeson action flick Non-Stop. The film marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners, a partnership that was announced in 2021. See the teaser below:

Lynley is a brilliant detective who's something of an outsider because of his aristocratic upbringing. Havers comes from a working class background, and she's more of an instinct-driven maverick. Though they have little in common and they don't always get along, they learn to work together to help get justice for victims of horrific crimes. Daniel Mays will play DCI Brian Nies, the astute, suspicious Senior Detective at Three Counties Major Incident Team, whose aversion to Lynley is partly born of his own insecurities about class and partly because he knows he’s no longer the smartest person in the room. Niamh Walsh stars as Helen Clyde, an estate agent and Lynley’s former Oxford classmate whose romance with Lynley is sparked when their paths fatefully cross on a case; Michael Workeye as tech specialist Tony Bekele; and Joshua Sher as forensic scientist, Simon St. James. News from Deadline say that ZDF and Paramount are going to turn Daniel Edelson's debut novel THE TEA HOUSE ON THE DEATH PASS into a returning series based on the true story of hundreds of hikers who became trapped while trekking in the Himalayas. Back in October 2014 in Nepal’s Himalayan Mountains, hundreds of hikers become trapped on the Annapurna Range after snowstorms and avalanches turn one of the most breathtaking hiking trails in the world into a death trap. The hikers, from dozens of nations, find themselves fighting for their lives, totally dependent on each other. They must make life-and-death decisions and face moral dilemmas as moments of heroism give rise to the inspiring rescue efforts. Ron Leshem along with Amit Cohen are the show creators.

Set during the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century, it follows Tita de la Garza (Azul Guaita) and Pedro Múzquiz (Andrés Baida), two souls deeply in love, yet unable to be together due to entrenched family customs. The protagonists navigate a world of magical realism and rich flavors as Tita struggles between the destiny imposed on her by her family and her fight for love. Along the way, the audience will witness her greatest refuge: the kitchen. For Tita, her magical connection to cooking becomes an active resistance against oppression, allowing her to channel her deepest desires and passions into her recipes, transforming those who taste them. THE SEVEN EPISODE SERIES STORY

As people disperse in all directions, they must bid farewell to what they love, what they know, and who they are. Slowly but steadily, everything changes.   WHAT'S THE STORY?  

It will see Reba playing plays Bobbie who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in her half-sister Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), she never knew she had. Isabella is an enthusiastic 20-something, who has studied psychology and loves to analyze people. She is thrilled to start working at the tavern and is full of “great” ideas about how to bring it to life. Peterman plays Gabby, a bartender who has worked at the tavern for quite some time. She is a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister. The comedy will also star Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn. While we are waiting for his Highlander and Warhammer projects to appear, Henry Cavill has scored another epic role: he will star in VOLTRON movie adaptation over at MGM Amazon Studios which already has Daniel Quinn-Toye in the cast. To be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber it is based on popular Japanese anime series from the 80s which followed a crew of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot known as Voltron made out of separate ships and vehicles.

Or at least that is the gossip around the town: beside The Other Bennet Sister series from BBC mentioned earlier this week and Miss Austen series with Keeley Hawes over at BBC and PBS, it seems we are getting a TV series adaptation of Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE as well but this time over at Netflix. Dolly Alderton has already written the scripts for the 19th century novel adaptation that tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, who eventually fall in love but have to navigate various obstacles as Elizabeth’s father seeks a male heir. According to Deadline, the series has not been greenlit yet and Netflix has not confirmed the news. They already had an unsuccessful adaptation of Persuasion with Dakota Johnson a few years ago.

Drawn into the criminal underbelly of the thriving boxing scene, he meets Mary Carr, (Erin Doherty), leader of The Forty Elephants, the notorious all-female London gang, as they battle for survival on the streets. As Hezekiah sharpens his new skills, he comes up against Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham), a seasoned and dangerous boxer, and the two are soon locked into an intense rivalry that spills out way beyond the ring. Steven Knight's drama also stars Francis Lovehall as Hezekiah's best friend Alec Munroe, Jason Tobin as Mr Lao and James Nelson-Joyce as Edward 'Treacle' Goodson. Daniel Mays stars as William 'Punch' Lewis, Adam Nagaitis as the Earl of Lonsdale, Gary Lewis as Jack Mac, Tom Davis as Charlie Mitchell and Robert Glenister as Indigo Jeremy.
