THE RUMOUR
RACHEL SHENTON TO LEAD NEW SERIES
Channel 5 has just ordered a new five episode mini series THE RUMOUR which will have Oscar winner Rachel Shenton as the lead next to Joanne Whalley, Samuel Anderson, Emily Atack and Ellie Haddington among others.
Rachel will be Joanna who moves with her young son, Alfie, to the quiet town of Flinstead, seeking a fresh start. However, she quickly becomes entangled in the lives of local mothers and the unsettling dynamics of the community. When Joanna stumbles upon an online rumour about a child killer living in the town, she uses it to win over the mums at the school gate. As gossip spreads, suspicions build, and Joanna finds herself drawn into a web of secrets and paranoia.
Balancing her efforts to protect her son with the growing unease in town, Joanna struggles to distinguish between truth and hearsay. With relationships strained and emotions running high, the boundaries between trust and fear blur.
The series explores how quickly small-town gossip can spiral out of control, forcing Joanna to confront the unforeseen consequences of curiosity and mistrust in her search for answers.

She was lovely in All Creatures Great and Small...hope this one will be good too.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed, but it seems she won't be a goodie in this one.
DeleteIt's not just small town gossip that can quickly spiral out of control. It happens often here in my mid sized city too, thanks to social media. I got sucked into Tik Tok last night about people all over the country calling child services on a nurse because they thought she was abusing her son and starving him. There's a big investigation going on now, but things spread like wildfire once one is determined to stir the pot.
ReplyDeleteWe currently have riots in my block because there is a little orphan kid in our primary school who is violent toward other kids and nobody can do anything about it, so parents have been rioting for two months now. I kinda like it because it is a sign that people are getting fed up with our dictator. The melting point was the moment when a roof of Novi Sad train station collapsed and killed 15 or 16 people, kids and youngsters after his criminal croonies have revamped the station. He refuses responsibility and we have been rioting about that as well for a month now, currently one by one university is joining the blockade on the national level with students finally waking up and joining the riots like we did when we were young and fought in the resistance against Milosevic.
DeleteIt's nice to see a community band together and fight for justice. These days most just want to whine on social media about the problems but don't want to put in the work to fight and fix them. I hope your youngsters are able to make an effective change!
DeleteOnly they can do it, as opposition is not allowed on the telly or media. He is currently planning on replacing national universities with the foreign ones LOL so that they can just cut off students if they riot, imagine the lengths he goes....
DeleteGood Lord! Sometimes I wish those religious nuts were right and the end of times would swoop in and end all of this madness.
DeleteThe world does not believe us when it comes to all the plots he has, they support him because he is ready to give them anything just to stay in power. We will have to clean up the shit ourselves, it seems.
