Channel 5 has set our dear Emmett Scanlan as the lead of their new six episode series AN IMPOSSIBLE WAY TO DIE with Sharon Rooney playing DS Katie Salter who is happily solving everyday crimes until fate drags her into an impossible murder mystery. Four people sat around a table seemingly set for a dinner party – except they are all dead. The only clue is a scorpion crawling out of one of the victim’s mouth. Netflix has revealed some brand new images showing the lead cast of their new Spanish language period set series THE FINAL PROBLEM based on the bestselling novel of the same name by acclaimed Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte. Thisnew five episode mini series blends thriller and mystery in an immersive period setting starring Jose Coronado, María Valverde, Martiño Rivas, Maribel Verdú, Gonzalo de Castro, Cristina Kovani, José Condessa and Pepón Nieto. It has been revealed today that the series will be available for streaming globally from September 25th so you can have a glamorous new mystery series to look forward to this Autumn and below the post you can also check out the announcement teaser trailer! You can also check out the character posters which I posted in our previous article on this drama last year.  This is not the only new period set series coming to the streamer from Espagna, as sometime later this year we can also expect their Lobo medieval series.

The eight part series will take us to the Viking Age, the figure of Prince Ryurik and the birth of Russian statehood. The story is set in the 9th century, when the river route from Europe to Byzantium was under the control of the Scandinavians-Russ, who collected tribute from the surrounding tribes. At the center of these turbulent events isLadoga, where Ryurik rules. The five parter is a high-stakes thriller which crackles with danger. Set in a heatwave, with protestors on the streets, forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio). The book is out this September as the first part of The Lyrian Sea duology. According to Deadline, it will be an epic adventure of love and betrayal, amid a brutal war for the high seas, a pirate fantasy set against the fall of the Golden Age of Piracy, following a former noblewoman caught between empire and rebellion – and between duty and the only man she’s ever loved.

The film stars Mena Massoud (Aladdin) as the prophet Daniel and Elijah Alexander (The Chosen) as King Nebuchadnezzar. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest times, God still delivers, still speaks, and still raises up unlikely heroes who refuse to bow.

Back in 2022 I reported that Serbian star Milos Bikovic will lead historical movie THE BIRTH OF AN EMPIRE (Рождение империи) butthen about a year ago I told you that it will be Aleksandar Gorbatov who will play the lead role of Tzar Peter I at the time after the defeat in the Battle of Narva and before the victory in the Battle of Poltava. And now we have a new trailer from the film which is supposed to arrive to Russian cinemas October 29th 2026. In addition to Peter I, the film will also feature his courtiers Menshikov, Sheremetyev, Romodanovsky and Foreign Minister Golovin. Menshikov will actually be played by Milos Bikovich, Romodanovsky by Vitaly Khaev, Sheremetyev by Alexey Guskov. The female roles will be played by Yulia Peresild (Anna Mons) and Ksenia Utekhina (the future Catherine I). Andrei Kravchuk is directing.

 WHAT IS THE STORY OF THE FILM?

Returning to his homeland after the Grand Embassy (Russian diplomatic mission to Western Europe from 9 March 1697 to 25 August 1698led by Peter the Great), Peter the Great stepped into a protracted war with Sweden for the access to the sea. On the way to a great victory, serious trialsawait him: disappointment, deception and betrayal - only by overcoming all of those will Peter become Emperor, find true love, and Russia will be proclaimed a great Empire.
