TV SERIES GETS A CAST AT CHANNEL 4

Exactly a year ago I told you that Channel 4 and French Canal + are making a six part drama out of Joseph Kessel's book ARMY OF SHADOWS, which was already turned into a classic film depicting the emergence of the French Resistance to the Nazi occupation of France during World War 2. Channel 4 will switch it into the story of how resistance takes shape in a near-future authoritarian Britain. Under de facto American occupation, a former British army officer builds a covert resistance cell from scratch - navigating betrayal, moral compromise and the tension between patience and action - as young recruits fight to reclaim their country and their futures. Across six thrilling episodes, the series chronicles the early days of the British Resistance. From first kills and internal betrayals to propaganda campaigns, internment camps, and a climactic political assassination - this is a story about how freedom is taken and how it can be won back. It has been revealed that Paddy Considine, Kit Harington, Alex Hassell and America Ferrera will lead the cast.

 now we have a plot as well for the second run. Brenda Blethyn and Jessica Reynolds will again play the older and younger Emma Harte who rises from poverty to billions. In new eight episode season, she emerges from World War One and strides into the glittering, fast changing world of the 1920s. Her ambition for the Harte name is unrelenting, as is her determination to make the Fairley family pay. But she has passion to contend with, in the form of the infuriatingly charismatic Paul McGill, and she'll also endure devastating loss and face unexpected betrayals from those she holds most dear. Meanwhile in the 1970s, she battles to win back her life’s work from Jim Fairley who not only married her heiress but also will have a kid with her. Emma will have a Fairley grandchild! Oh, noes!

Channel 4 has already aired this one over in Britain and I actually finished watching it earlier this week and can tell you that it is probably the best period set series of the year so far, but I wanted to inform you today that it will start streaming for the audiences in USA and Canada on BritBox as of June 24th and you do not want to miss it. With Brenda Blethyn as the lead it is the reboot of A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE  based on Barbara Taylor Bradford's novel with Jessica Reynolds playing the younger version. Channel 4 has released first trailer a few weeks ago featuring David Morrissey and Alan Cumming as leads in their new five part drama TIP TOE from Russell T. Davies but back then we did not have the air date. Today I can finally tell you that the series will start airing in UK this Sunday May 31st and that it will also stream down in Australia on their Binge streamer and Foxtel from June 2nd. It will air on Starz in USA.

Channel 4 and Steven Moffat have produced new comedy series NUMBER 10 with Rafe Spall playing the prime minister, Katherine Kelly as his Chief of Staff, and Jenna Coleman as her deputy and today we have the first images to prove it. Laura Haddock and Richard Rankin also star! There’s a Prime Minister in the attic, a coffee bar in the basement, and a wallpapered labyrinth of romance, crisis and heartbreak in-between. Set in the only terrace house in history with mice and a nuclear deterrent, it’s the only knock-through in the world where a hangover can start a war. The government will be fictional and unspecific, but the problems will be real. We’ll never know which party is in power, because once the whole world hits the fan it barely matters. The series will air sometime this year.

Channel 4 has announced cast for their comic thriller mini TV series WRONG MOVE which will be led by Rory Kinnear, Eleanor Tomlinson, Eva Myles, David Thewlis, David Bradley, in the story that follows complicated lives of the people trying to take the next steps up the property ladder, and the misguided notion that moving house can fix everything. The plot follows three couples who are tied in a property-buying chain, only for the person at the top to pull out the night before the deals are done, causing chaos for those lower down.

But when they do, both are forced to wrestle with what it means for them, their vows, and their relationship with God. This witty and moving love drama will also see Rakie Ayola, Jason Watkins, Niamh Cusack, Adrian Scarborough, David Dawson, Susan Brown and Sandra Voe starring in the cast. COOPER AND FRY ON CHANNEL 5

Channel 5 begun, earlier this Tuesday, airing their new series COOPER AND FRY set in the mystery shrouded Peak District,  where DC Ben Cooper (Robert James Collier), an affable local, is thrown together with guarded newcomer DC Diane Fry (Mandip Gill), to investigate a string of mysterious deaths. As their personal lives begin to intertwine and past scars look to be healed, a unique friendship is formed. While Cooper and Fry unearth old rituals and beliefs, they must rely on each other to not only bring justice, but to survive.

He plays a rather hot and charming tutor who infiltrates a wealthy family's life, revealing a sinister agenda.
