SUMMERWATER WITH DOUGRAY SCOTT

I thought I should remind you of this week's new shows beginning with SUMMERWATER which starts tonight on Channel 4 set against the backdrop of a remote loch-side Scottish holiday cabin park and exploring the simmering tensions between holidaymakers that eventually erupt into a devastating climax. Weaving together the lives of several families as they navigate unspoken conflicts, private dilemmas, and fleeting moments of beauty from their disparate cabins the story flashes back to dramatic events in key characters’ lives before their holiday which may have consequences in the present.

 

 

COOPER AND FRY ON CHANNEL 5

Channel 5 begun, earlier this Tuesday, airing their new series COOPER AND FRY set in the mystery shrouded Peak District,  where DC Ben Cooper (Robert James Collier), an affable local, is thrown together with guarded newcomer DC Diane Fry (Mandip Gill), to investigate a string of mysterious deaths. As their personal lives begin to intertwine and past scars look to be healed, a unique friendship is formed. While Cooper and Fry unearth old rituals and beliefs, they must rely on each other to not only bring justice, but to survive.

 

 

PRIME VIDEO'S MALICE

Prime Video has our dear Jack Whitehall as a manny in their new six episode thriller series MALICE which started this Friday. He plays a rather hot and charming tutor who infiltrates a wealthy family's life, revealing a sinister agenda. As his vengeful plot unfolds, the family must confront the enemy living under their own roof. David Duchovny and Carice van Houten play the parents of the family.

Back in July I told you that Downton Abbey's Robert James Collier will lead four 120 minute TV films COOPER AND FRY based on best-selling novels by Stephen Booth and now we have the first poster. Set in the mystery-shrouded Peak District, the series follows two mismatched young detectives: affable local Ben Cooper, played by Robert James Collier, and guarded newcomer Diane Fry, played by Mandip Gill. Thrown together to investigate a string of mysterious deaths they must learn to work together to get results. As their personal lives begin to intertwine, a unique friendship begins to form… But it won’t always be easy. It starts November 18th!

Beside ordering six brand new series which I will announce when the casting for each is revealed, Channel 5 has also renewed popular costume drama The Hardacres for season two and THE TEACHER anthology series for 

Victoria Hamilton will lead The Teacher season 3

season 3. This time it will star Victoria Hamilton in the lead role as Helen; a respected 50-something drama teacher, struggling to keep up with modern social expectations in a reputable private school. Caught repeatedly stumbling over student Dee’s correct pronouns, Helen is then challenged by outspoken pupil Cressida over her decision to use Shakespeare as opposed to more modern dramatic works. A difference of opinion rapidly turns into a sinister grudge match and after a tragic event on school grounds, the situation intensifies when a video emerges suggesting Helen is to blame
