It has become Channel 4's most watched new series in half a decade and you already know that the second season will be shooting later this year after it airs in USA as well this Wednesday on BritBox, but

 now we have a plot as well for the second run. Brenda Blethyn and Jessica Reynolds will again play the older and younger Emma Harte who rises from poverty to billions. In new eight episode season, she emerges from World War One and strides into the glittering, fast changing world of the 1920s. Her ambition for the Harte name is unrelenting, as is her determination to make the Fairley family pay. But she has passion to contend with, in the form of the infuriatingly charismatic Paul McGill, and she'll also endure devastating loss and face unexpected betrayals from those she holds most dear. Meanwhile in the 1970s, she battles to win back her life’s work from Jim Fairley who not only married her heiress but also will have a kid with her. Emma will have a Fairley grandchild! Oh, noes!

Channel 4 has already aired this one over in Britain and I actually finished watching it earlier this week and can tell you that it is probably the best period set series of the year so far, but I wanted to inform you today that it will start streaming for the audiences in USA and Canada on BritBox as of June 24th and you do not want to miss it. With Brenda Blethyn as the lead it is the reboot of A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE  based on Barbara Taylor Bradford's novel with Jessica Reynolds playing the younger version. One of the new shows to expect from BBC this year is BABIES which follows Paapa Essiedu and Siobhán Cullen as a couple who deals with pregnancy losses over the years. Richard Gadd and Jamie Bell will play brothers with turbulent relationship in HALF MAN. Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha will be two casino workers trying to rob from the same safe in THE CAGE, while LORD OF THE FLIES series will follow a group of school children stranded on a tropical island with no adults after a plane crash. We might also get A TALE OF TWO CITIES French revolution period set series based on Charles Dickens novel with Kit Harrington and Francois Civil in the leads. Costume drama might also arrive with THE OTHER BENNET sister based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice character. THE HAIRDRESSER MYSTERIES will follow a hairdresser turned detective in a cosy little village. TWO WEEKS IN AUGUST will see Jessica Raine as a woman on holiday with friends and family in the Mediterranean who finds herself trapped.
