 Hart, mother to 39-year-old Shane (Rick Donald),  daughter Steph (Liz Kingsman), middle son Rodney (Hugo Johnston Burt). Jay Ryan plays Steph’s partner Mick. Set within the chaos of a suburban Australian family, it follows Kerry as she receives a cancer diagnosis. Her immediate crisis isn’t her own mortality: it’s the terrifying realisation that all her adult children are totally incapable of surviving the world without her. Through the chaos, the series explores the complicated bonds of family, the fear of losing someone you love and the messy, often hilarious struggle to become self-sufficient.

The series is inspired by an industrious fraudster, and the group of victims who eventually decided they had had enough of him. The charming and cultured Hamish (Dominic Cooper) sets his sights on Bec (Claire van der Boom), a recently divorced single mother with three sons and access to a significant family trust. When Bec notices gaps in his story and some odd behaviour, what starts as private unease widens into something far larger: a pattern of deception spanning continents and suspected of leaving more than $70 million in its wake. Our dearest Joel Jackson also stars next to Simone Kessell.

The attraction is undeniable, and sparks might fly… if Billy wasn’t happily married to Rose (Georgie Parker), his wife of 40 years. Billy brings Dani home to meet Rose, triggering a series of life-changing events which have far reaching consequences. Their closest friends and family are impacted; intimate relationships are formed, and others shattered. Lies are told, memories are unreliable, and absolute truths are never known. Australian SBS has released a trailer with Hugo Weaving as the lead in their eight part series THE AIRPORT CHAPLAIN which was shot down in Melbourne capturing the high-stakes world of a bustling international airport. He plays Tobias Wallace a fast-moving fixer with a constantly ringing phone, pockets full of cash and an unorthodox approach to the daily crises unfolding inside the terminal. Convinced the airport couldn’t run without him, Tobias has never encountered a problem he couldn’t solve. Until he meets his formidable new boss Mira (Shabana Azeez), who deems him a walking liability. Their clash sparks a power struggle that reverberates through the terminal, affecting the cleaners, baggage handlers, and passengers, who are all navigating their own hopes and challenges amid the constant chaos of life in the airport. The series will stream both on SBS and Netflix around the world from August 26th in eight half hour episodes.

Based on the Miles Franklin novel, the six part saga sees Philippa Northeast playing Sybylla, a fiercely modern young woman with one burning ambition: to be a writer, even as her family pushes her toward marriage. Sybylla breaks every convention of 1900 Australia as she chases a story that could write her way to independence, until she falls in love. Will she marry, or risk it all for a creative life? Christopher Chung stars as Harry, Anna Chancellor as Mrs Bossier, Genevieve O’Reilly as Helen, Kate Mulvany as Augusta, Jake Dunn as Frank, Alexander England as Julius, Sherry-Lee Watson as Nell and Miah Madden as Betty.

RUNNER also hits cinemas the same month, but September 11th and beside Alan Ritchson also stars Owen Wilson and Rodrigo Santoro. This high octane dynamic action thriller was directed by Scott Waugh. 
 
Wonderfully ripped Alan Ritchson takes the lead role as a former soldier who is thrown into a brutal race against time when a critical medical delivery makes him the target of a ruthless cartel. The delivery is liver which will save a little girl's life. In the movie set in Brisbane he has just three hours to fulfill the life saving delivery! The movie comes from Angel studios whose movies are becoming more and more lucrative at the box office!

I have two new Australian shows to present to you today, spylings, beginning with TREASURE & DIRT which arrives to their national broadcaster ABC July 19th with our dear Michael Dorman, whom you watched in Territory series, in the lead role. The story of the six part crime thriller is set in the scorched, dust choked opal mining town of Nulla, where the brutal beheading of local miner pulls big-city detective Ivan Lucic (Dorman) into a labyrinthine case with no easy answers. Assigned to him is ambitious rookie detective Nell Buchanan (Liv Hewson) who knows Nulla’s lawless, corrupt underbelly far better than he does. Together, they’re drawn into a strange, surreal underworld of secrets, greed, and old sins that won’t stay buried. Dean O'Gorman and Eamon Farren also star.

New six part series hits Stan next week
Arriving even sooner, next week actually - June 24th to Australian streamer Stan is six episode mystery crime drama THE KILLINGS AT PARRISH STATION. In 1987, detectives Georgia Cooke (Mia Wasikowska) and Michael Thorne (Xavier Samuel) are called to investigate the bizarre and brutal killings of four scientists at the remote Parrish Research Station. Two years later, they reconnect unexpectedly, and Ryan impulsively proposes they go on eight dates to decide if they’re meant to be married. Their love story evolves over eight dates comprising personal revelations, unexpected family drama, professional upheavals, and their contrasting worldview. Airing as of yesterday, Saturday March 7th on Australian broadcaster ABC is new mini TV series BLUE MURDER MOTEL starring Brett Tucker and Michala Banas. They star as 40 somethings Vanessa and Peter Coleman – known to friends and colleagues as Vinny and Cole – who have been married ever since they met as junior constables in Sydney. Both of them followed the police path until the very recent final years of their careers as senior homicide detectives. Working together, living and loving together, it’s fair to say that police investigations and murder were a 24/7 thing for Vinny and Cole. But now – for reasons the Colemans are keeping to themselves – it is time to leave all that behind. Blue Motel, in the summery beach town of Mōwai Bay in New Zealand, offered the perfect escape, the ultimate retirement dream. But only six weeks into their new life, that dream has taken an unexpected, annoying turn when a body is discovered in Unit 3. The series already aired on TVNZ in New Zealand back in January.

A small screen adaptation of a classic coming to Netflix in 2026 will be a contemporary reimagining of John Steinbeck’s classic novel shot exploring the mult igenerational saga of the Trask family with Florence Poo, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds leading the cast. It is set in California’s Salinas Valley over a period that stretches from the Civil War to end of World War I.
 
 1901 SET MY BRILLIANT CAREER

Will be a Second World War drama based on the true story of four college football stars who enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they participate in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history — a game that, for many, will be their last. The cast led by Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård is under the helm of director Peter Berg.

When Roland’s (Leon Ford) wife Emma leaves him with their teenage daughter Mia who barely notices him and Beattie, the dog he never wanted in the first place, he’s determined to cope brilliantly. But when Beattie disappears and turns up at the local dog park, Roland meets the unbearably optimistic Samantha (Celia Pacquola) and her mismatched, life-loving group of dog-parkers. As Roland begrudgingly keeps returning to the park, he comes to realise he might actually need a community to belong to.

Brooke Satchwell leads the drama as Lillian Vandenberg, a woman struggling after the death of her fiancé who finds comfort in seeking out the recipients of his organs, triggering a tangled chain of connection. 
 
  AFTER ASH
 a doctor, is attacked by an ice addict, his fiancée Lillian turns off his life support. Months later, Lillian is still reeling in the aftermath of her fiancée’s death when she receives a letter from a man crushed by a motorbike, thanking her for his new heart. Suddenly, Lillian feels better. And she wants more of that feeling. She wants to know more about the people that were able to live. Our dear Ben Lawson also stars in the six part series alongside another of our Australian faves Daniel Henshall. NEW AUSTRALIAN TV SERIES FROM ABC AND BBC: TREASURE AND DIRT WITH MICHAEL DORMAN, DUSTFALL WITH ANNA TORV

A couple of new Australian dramas for you today, starting with ABC's TREASURE AND DIRT which will also air on BBC in UK starring Michael Dorman and Liv Hewson. He plays homicide detective Ivan Lucic who is sent to investigate the mysterious and grisly murder of a miner in an Outback opal town. Joined by rural detective Nell Buchanan, the two are drawn into a labyrinth of secrets, greed and old sins that won’t stay buried. As the case twists into something darker and more surreal, Ivan and Nell can’t tell whether it’s the town that’s unravelling or themselves. Eamon Farren and Dean O’Gorman also star.
 
 DUSTFALL WITH ANNA TORV
Also coming from ABC and also to air on BBC One as well next year is another six part drama DUSTFALL a propulsive, atmospheric Tropic Noir that follows Anna Torv as a detective whose deep sense of justice is challenged by a world where victims are doubted, predators hide in plain sight, and the legal system too often falls short. When seasoned detective Tig, returning to her hometown of North Gap after years in the city, uncovers a string of drink spiking assaults, the case is turned on its head when one of the main suspects is murdered. Juliet Stevenson and Jay Ryan also star.

Screen Australia has announced some new period set series that they will fund including FLORENCE a six episode series based on the true life story of the iconic and enigmatic designer Florence Broadhurst. It unpacks the life of a woman who irrevocably changed the style of Australia. When Florence was brutally murdered in her celebrated wallpaper studio at age 78, the shocking crime led to a mystery that remains unsolved today. 
 
 GRAND DAYS PERIOD SET TV SERIES
There is also a six episode series GRAND DAYS from writer Emily Balou, an extraordinary love story set against the rise and fall of the League of Nations and the hopeful vision of post-war Australia! No broadcasters announced yet for either series.
