As TV Tonight reports, shooting has wrapped on new eight part series WHO THE HELL IS HAMISH? which will air later this year on Paramount +. The series is inspired by an industrious fraudster, and the group of victims who eventually decided they had had enough of him. The charming and cultured Hamish (Dominic Cooper) sets his sights on Bec (Claire van der Boom), a recently divorced single mother with three sons and access to a significant family trust. When Bec notices gaps in his story and some odd behaviour, what starts as private unease widens into something far larger: a pattern of deception spanning continents and suspected of leaving more than $70 million in its wake. Our dearest Joel Jackson also stars next to Simone Kessell.

Since Hallmark often likes to take us to exotic destinations during summer, this year we are going to Australia on August 15th in romantic movie AUSSIE AT HEART. Rhiannon Fish and Daniel Lissing take the lead roles in this fun flick set Down Under. Fish stars as Samara, a former lawyer who now makes her living as an event planner. When planning an anniversary for a couple in Queensland, she’s reunited with an old co-worker who used to be her rival. As they work together yet again, the tensions of their past slip away as they fall for one another. All three movies will be available for streaming the day after on Hallmark + streamer.

Australian SBS has released a trailer with Hugo Weaving as the lead in their eight part series THE AIRPORT CHAPLAIN which was shot down in Melbourne capturing the high-stakes world of a bustling international airport. He plays Tobias Wallace a fast-moving fixer with a constantly ringing phone, pockets full of cash and an unorthodox approach to the daily crises unfolding inside the terminal. Convinced the airport couldn’t run without him, Tobias has never encountered a problem he couldn’t solve. Until he meets his formidable new boss Mira (Shabana Azeez), who deems him a walking liability. Their clash sparks a power struggle that reverberates through the terminal, affecting the cleaners, baggage handlers, and passengers, who are all navigating their own hopes and challenges amid the constant chaos of life in the airport. The series will stream both on SBS and Netflix around the world from August 26th in eight half hour episodes.

I have two new Australian shows to present to you today, spylings, beginning with TREASURE & DIRT which arrives to their national broadcaster ABC July 19th with our dear Michael Dorman, whom you watched in Territory series, in the lead role. The story of the six part crime thriller is set in the scorched, dust choked opal mining town of Nulla, where the brutal beheading of local miner pulls big-city detective Ivan Lucic (Dorman) into a labyrinthine case with no easy answers. Assigned to him is ambitious rookie detective Nell Buchanan (Liv Hewson) who knows Nulla’s lawless, corrupt underbelly far better than he does. Together, they’re drawn into a strange, surreal underworld of secrets, greed, and old sins that won’t stay buried. Dean O'Gorman and Eamon Farren also star.

New six part series hits Stan next week
Arriving even sooner, next week actually - June 24th to Australian streamer Stan is six episode mystery crime drama THE KILLINGS AT PARRISH STATION. In 1987, detectives Georgia Cooke (Mia Wasikowska) and Michael Thorne (Xavier Samuel) are called to investigate the bizarre and brutal killings of four scientists at the remote Parrish Research Station. We are used to getting a couple of amazing series every year from Australia and Paramount + is now ready to give us  TWO YEARS LATER, an eight episode series, a funny romantic drama set in a post-pandemic world, following thirty-somethings Emily (Phoebe Tonkin) and Ryan (Brenton Thwaites) whose brief, daily flirtations on their work commute aboard a bus are abruptly cut off by COVID-19. Two years later, they reconnect unexpectedly, and Ryan impulsively proposes they go on eight dates to decide if they’re meant to be married. Their love story evolves over eight dates comprising personal revelations, unexpected family drama, professional upheavals, and their contrasting worldview. Blue Murder Motel airs from March 7th
Airing as of yesterday, Saturday March 7th on Australian broadcaster ABC is new mini TV series BLUE MURDER MOTEL starring Brett Tucker and Michala Banas. They star as 40 somethings Vanessa and Peter Coleman – known to friends and colleagues as Vinny and Cole – who have been married ever since they met as junior constables in Sydney. Both of them followed the police path until the very recent final years of their careers as senior homicide detectives. Working together, living and loving together, it’s fair to say that police investigations and murder were a 24/7 thing for Vinny and Cole. But now – for reasons the Colemans are keeping to themselves – it is time to leave all that behind. Blue Motel, in the summery beach town of Mลwai Bay in New Zealand, offered the perfect escape, the ultimate retirement dream. But only six weeks into their new life, that dream has taken an unexpected, annoying turn when a body is discovered in Unit 3. The series already aired on TVNZ in New Zealand back in January.

A small screen adaptation of a classic coming to Netflix in 2026 will be a contemporary reimagining of John Steinbeck’s classic novel shot exploring the mult igenerational saga of the Trask family with Florence Poo, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarรกn Hinds leading the cast. It is set in California’s Salinas Valley over a period that stretches from the Civil War to end of World War I.
 
 1901 SET MY BRILLIANT CAREER
A TV adaptation of Miles Franklin’s novel follows Sybylla (Phillipa Northeast), a shockingly modern young woman in 1901. Australia with one searing ambition: to be a writer. With an irrepressible taste for fun, the choice between adventure and a safe marriage is easy, until she falls in love. Should Sybylla marry, or should she throw herself to the winds of fate and risk a creative life? Anna Chancellor also stars.
 

WW2 THE MOSQUITO BOWL
Will be a Second World War drama based on the true story of four college football stars who enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they participate in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history — a game that, for many, will be their last. The cast led by Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgรฅrd is under the helm of director Peter Berg.

Here is something cute for you today coming from Australia: their new pooch comedy series DOG PARK will premiere on their national broadcaster ABC next February 1st and we have a trailer for it. When Roland’s (Leon Ford) wife Emma leaves him with their teenage daughter Mia who barely notices him and Beattie, the dog he never wanted in the first place, he’s determined to cope brilliantly. But when Beattie disappears and turns up at the local dog park, Roland meets the unbearably optimistic Samantha (Celia Pacquola) and her mismatched, life-loving group of dog-parkers. As Roland begrudgingly keeps returning to the park, he comes to realise he might actually need a community to belong to.

British Channel 5 has sent us the first images from their new four part explosive twisty thriller mini television series THE IMPOSTER which will air in four consecutive weekdays from Monday December 15th till Thursday December 18th as their new Australian original. 
  WHAT IS THE STORY OF THE SERIES?
A sprawling seaside hotel sits at the heart of a dispute between matriarch Helen (Jackie Woodburne with the ugliest hairdo I have seen in a long time) and her three adult children, Simon (Don Hany), Kate (Jane Harber) and Ian (Jackson Gallagher). The kids want to sell to take  advantage of a lucrative deal from a buyer, but Helen is against the lucrative deal, despite her ailing health. But Helen also has a secret – an older child, Amanda (Kym Marsh), who she gave up for adoption in the UK before the other kids were born. When Amanda turns up out of the blue, Helen embraces her, believing she is the answer to her problems. But Amanda is actually an imposter, out to dupe Helen – in a plot that will lead to murder. Australian streamer Stan has released a trailer for their new series DEAR LIFE (previously known as Love Divided by Eleven) which will be available for streaming from January 1st launching the New Year! Brooke Satchwell leads the drama as Lillian Vandenberg, a woman struggling after the death of her fiancรฉ who finds comfort in seeking out the recipients of his organs, triggering a tangled chain of connection. 
 
  AFTER ASH
 a doctor, is attacked by an ice addict, his fiancรฉe Lillian turns off his life support. Months later, Lillian is still reeling in the aftermath of her fiancรฉe’s death when she receives a letter from a man crushed by a motorbike, thanking her for his new heart. Suddenly, Lillian feels better. And she wants more of that feeling. She wants to know more about the people that were able to live. Our dear Ben Lawson also stars in the six part series alongside another of our Australian faves Daniel Henshall. Screen Australia has announced some new period set series that they will fund including FLORENCE a six episode series based on the true life story of the iconic and enigmatic designer Florence Broadhurst. It unpacks the life of a woman who irrevocably changed the style of Australia. When Florence was brutally murdered in her celebrated wallpaper studio at age 78, the shocking crime led to a mystery that remains unsolved today. 
 
 GRAND DAYS PERIOD SET TV SERIES
There is also a six episode series GRAND DAYS from writer Emily Balou, an extraordinary love story set against the rise and fall of the League of Nations and the hopeful vision of post-war Australia! No broadcasters announced yet for either series.

set to launch on Prime Video September 12th with our dearest Gwilym Lee in the lead role. If you remember he and Miranda Tapsell played a couple trying to get married in the movie. 
 
 NOW IN THE SERIES Lauren and Ned are living their best life in the city, which is tragically interrupted when Lauren’s sister Ronelle dies in a car crash in the Top End. Rushing back to Darwin, Lauren and Ned are thrown into the chaos of Top End life with Lauren’s parents, Daffy and Trevor, and confronted with another curveball when they unexpectedly become the guardians of Ronelle’s lively and cheeky young daughter, Taya. Australian Foxtel and streamer Binge have released a trailer for the third season of their THE TWELVE series with Sam Neill in the lead role as a prosecutor with a new case and twelve new jury members in each season. 
 
 Out August 4th, new season titled THE TWELVE: CAPE ROCK KILLER is unlike any other as things get personal for Brett Colby (Sam Neill) after he is thrust into a murder trial to defend the husband of a life-long friend accused of a heinous murder. As the trial unravels a deeper mystery, a 1968 cold case murder of two teens is re-opened, and the twelve jurors sworn in for the trial find their own lives changed by the experience. Ewen Leslie leads the jury with Danielle Cormack also in the cast. The eight episode series also airs on BBC in UK.

NETFLIX ANNOUNCES PRODUCTION AND CAST FOR MY BRILLIANT CAREER PERIOD SET TV SERIES FROM AUSTRALIA

Netflix has commenced shooting of their new Australian period set original series MY BRILLIANT CAREER based on Miles Franklin's classic. In the late 19th Century, Australia, a strong and ambitious young woman named Sybylla Melvyn (Phillippa Northeast) is coming of age 
Alexander England and Philippa Northeast will star in  the series
amidst her family’s financial struggles. After multiple disagreements with her mother, Sybylla is offered the chance to move to the Caddagat estate, where Mrs. Bossier (Anna Chancellor) takes her under her wing to “refine” Sybylla and prepare her for marriage. Eager to move, it’s not long before Sybylla falls in love with life at Caddagat, where she meets Harold Beecham, the owner of
Jake Dunn and Anna Chancellor will also star in the series
 the neighboring estate, and thus the courtship begins. Much to Sybylla’s dismay, her family’s financial troubles force her to travel to Barney’s Gap, where she is to be the governess of the M’Swat household.
