NEW TV SERIES ADAPTATION IMAGES FROM NETFLIX

With Florence Pugh and Christopher Abbott in the lead roles, Netflix has announced October 1st as the streaming date for their new  EAST OF EDEN mini series adaptation of Steinbeck's classic novel produced by Zoe Kazan, whose grandad Elia directed the original film! Also starring in the new series adaptation are Ciaran Hinds, Mike Faist (in the role originally played by James Dean) and Hoon Lee. 

WHAT IS THE SERIES ABOUT?

 Set in California’s Salinas Valley over a period that stretches from the Civil War to the end of World War I, the epic novel tells the interconnected stories of the Hamilton family, an Irish immigrant family with nine children, and the Trask family, lead by the wealthy Adam Trask (to be played by Abbott in the seven part series). The story eventually narrows its focus to center around the Trask family and the drama surrounding Adam, his wife Cathy and their sons Cal and Aron. A small screen adaptation of a classic coming to Netflix in 2026 will be a contemporary reimagining of John Steinbeck’s classic novel shot exploring the mult igenerational saga of the Trask family with Florence Poo, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds leading the cast. It is set in California’s Salinas Valley over a period that stretches from the Civil War to end of World War I.

WW2 THE MOSQUITO BOWL

Will be a Second World War drama based on the true story of four college football stars who enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they participate in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history — a game that, for many, will be their last. The cast led by Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård is under the helm of director Peter Berg.

It is still in very early stages of production, but rumour has it that Netflix is turning EAST OF EDEN novel from John Steinbeck into a mini series to be directedby Zoe Kazan whose grandad Elia directed the original movie adaptation. Florence Pugh is apparently attached to star in the story set in California’s Salinas Valley over a period that stretches from the Civil War to the end of World War I. As Variety reports, the epic novel tells the interconnected stories of the Hamilton family, an Irish immigrant family with nine children, and the Trask family, lead by the wealthy Adam Trask. The story eventually narrows its focus to center around the Trask family and the drama surrounding Adam, his wife Cathy and their sons Cal and Aron. Back in the 80s there was also a TV adaptation with Jane Seymour while the four time Oscar nominated movie version had James Dean as the lead.

GETS A BRAND NEW POSTER

New series arrives this August

While we are waiting for the August 21st premiere over at HBO Max, HOUSE OF THE DRAGON epic series has just got a brand new poster. Promoting the series based on George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones books, the new poster features Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The story of the series itself is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and chronicles the early days of House Targaryen. The cast also features Paddy Consi- dine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Ryan Corr, Graham McTavish, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.
