Good news, people, as Deadline reports, a new small screen version of famous Russian classic ANNA KARENINA is in works, the bad news, it will be done by Gwyneth Hughes, who massacred Thackeray's Vanity Fair recently over at ITV turning it into one of the most dull series we've seen in recent times. Fingers crossed she does not rape and kill Tolstoy's novel the same way. It is a complex story which follows dozens of major characters similar to his War and Peace. It mainly follows Russian noble woman Anna Karenina who has an affair with a dashing cavalry officer that scandalizes Saint Petersburg social circles. The pair initially flee to Italy before returning to Russia, where their lives further unravel. I'm guessing it will also be at ITV as Hughes is doing a Keeley Hawes thriller for them currently.

The greatest of news, people! One of our most beloved Irish hunks Jamie Dornan is in talks to star in ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS according to 'The Hollywood Reporter'! The not so great news: he won't be playing the hood wearing Robin even though he is kinda the biggest star in the cast. If he accepts the role in the film in which young Tarton Egerton is to play Robin, Dornan would play Will Scarlett!

In Lionsgate's version of the Robin Hood legend, to be directed by Otto Bathurst, Jamie Foxx will play Little John and Eve Hewson will portray Maid Marian!  Jamie Dornan would play Will Scarlett, one of Robin's brave Merry Men who is the hot headed wearer of fine clothes and the best swordsman of the bunch. In this version of the legend, which starts shooting in Hungary in January, he is Marian’s husband, who will be none too happy when he learns that she loves the outlaw.

It is interesting that the above mentioned Keanu was the original star of this movie.

While Disney is still planning their NOTTINGHAM AND HOOD in the large scale vein of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, rival project ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS is already casting. After making a choice of Taron Egerton (Jack Huston, Jack Reynor were also considered) in the lead role, they're now considering between Gugu Mbatha Raw (BELLE) and Eve Hewson (THE KNICK, also known as daughter of irritating Bono Vox) for the female lead. This grittier version will see Robin Hood arrive back from the Crusades and recruit his band of Merry Men after finding corruption has spread across Sherwood Forest and Nottingham.
