Meanwhile, Netflix has dropped the first trailer and photos for their A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS mini series which will be released around the world on January 13th! A small screen adaptation of Lemony Snicket book's it brings the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, whose evil guardian Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents’ mysterious death. The eight episode series also stars Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes.

The greatest of news, people! One of our most beloved Irish hunks Jamie Dornan is in talks to star in ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS according to 'The Hollywood Reporter'! The not so great news: he won't be playing the hood wearing Robin even though he is kinda the biggest star in the cast. If he accepts the role in the film in which young Tarton Egerton is to play Robin, Dornan would play Will Scarlett!

In Lionsgate's version of the Robin Hood legend, to be directed by Otto Bathurst, Jamie Foxx will play Little John and Eve Hewson will portray Maid Marian!  Jamie Dornan would play Will Scarlett, one of Robin's brave Merry Men who is the hot headed wearer of fine clothes and the best swordsman of the bunch. In this version of the legend, which starts shooting in Hungary in January, he is Marian’s husband, who will be none too happy when he learns that she loves the outlaw.

'THE WHOLE TRUTH' TRAILER

Two trailers for you today, the first one for a new Keanu Reeves drama movie THE WHOLE TRUTH which is out next month.  Defense attorney Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves) takes on a personal case when he swears to his widowed friend, Loretta Lassiter (Renée Zellweger), that he will keep her son Mike (Gabriel Basso) out of prison. Charged with murdering his father, Mike initially confesses to the crime. But as the trial proceeds, chilling evidence about the kind of man that Boone Lassiter (Jim Belushi) really was comes to light. While Ramsay uses the evidence to get his client acquitted, his new colleague Janelle (Gugu Mbatha Raw) tries to dig deeper. And he begins to realize that the whole truth is something she alone can uncover.

The first trailer has also finally been released for sf adventure PASSENGERS with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence which  takes place on a space ship transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet in suspended animation. The trip takes a deadly turn when Jim and Aurora’s (Pratt and Lawrence) hibernation pods awaken them 90 years before anyone else. As Jim and Aurora look into the malfunction, they fall deeply in love while the ship starts falling apart and they have to try and save the other passengers.The movie's launch is set a few days before Christmas this December. It is interesting that the above mentioned Keanu was the original star of this movie.

In the photo department today, EW has released first two photos from sf movie PASSENGERS with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence set on a luxury interstellar spaceship with 5,000 passengers travelling to the Homestead II colony 120 years away. They are all travelling in suspended animation, but when Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence's characters are mistakenly awakened 90 years too early, they discover that the ship is malfunctioning, putting everyone in danger. The movie is out this December, so we should expect a trailer soon!

Just some casting news this boring Monday, starting with our most beloved Scott James McAvoy who will lead the cast of SUBMERGENCE together with fresh Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. As 'Deadline' reports, adapted from the novel by JM Ledgard, the film follows the interconnected stories of James (James McAvoy), an Englishman held captive by jihadist fighters, and Danny (Alicia Vikander), a marine researcher studying the ocean floor near Greenland, as their thoughts are drawn back to the previous Christmas and the chance encounter that led to their romance!

'THE SOLUTREAN'

Deadline also reports on a topic we like - thrillers set in isolated spaces! Albert Hughes is planning to take the helm and direct ice age epic adventure THE SOLUTREAN which is supposed to star Leonor Varela,  Jóhannes Haukur Johannesson and Kodi Smit McPhee! It will be a visually striking epic adventure survival story set 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age. The word “Solutrean” refers to the Upper Paleolithic period of early advanced humans in Europe. Leonor Varela (Cleopatra from ROME) will play the shaman; described as wise, powerful and compelling, she performs religious rituals of protection, healing and thanksgiving!

Meanwhile, 'Empire' writes today that   rather steallar ensemble has been gathered for new thriller drama movie coming from Darren Aronofsky which doesn't yet have a title. Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem and fresh STAR WARS star Domhnall Gleeson will lead the cast in the movie which reportedly follows what happens when a couple's tranquil relationship is disturbed by uninvited guests who arrive at their home. Aronofsky has written the script himself and is looking to put this stellar cast to work as soon as this June!

TO GO ROMANTIC IN 'THE ROSIE PROJECT' MOVIE ADAPTATION

It seems that gorgeous movie star Jennifer Lawrence is a bit sick of epic adventures so she is turning over to romantic movies. While she is currently shooting sf romance THE PASSENGERS (in which she is the only awaken traveller on a space ship together with Chris Pratt) she will take on the lead role in the big screen adaptation of Graeme Simsion's THE ROSIE EFFECT. The movie titled THE ROSIE PROJECT will revolve around a socially anxious, awkward professor who formulates a survey to find the perfect partner. His stringently tested plans are thrown off track when he meets Rosie Jarman (Jennifer Lawrence), whose personality goes against every requisite his survey demands.

 'SHANNARA' EPIC SERIES

MIND BLOWING FIRST TRAILER!

The first very long and unexpectedly stunning trailer for MTV's epic TV series THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES has been revealed and it seems our worries that MTV might do it wrong weren't justified, at least judging from the first scenes and mind blowing sets and visuals! Arriving to the small screens next January, the television adaptation of Terry Brooks popular epic fantasy novels will follow Elven princes and princesses trying to save the post apocalyptic world fighting with Humans against Demons. The ten episode first season has been shot over at New Zealand so the look is very reminiscent of LORD OF THE RINGS movies. Manu Bennett, Poppy Drayton, John Rhys Davies, Ivana Baquero, Daniel MacPherson lead the cast! 

  SPOOKY 'EXETER' TRAILER

IT'S A LOVELY DAY FOR EXORCISM

Now, you know we don't do horrors, but this is a new movie from our dear friend Shaun Smith who was special make up effects supervisor on EXETER (in UK THE ASYLUM) a new horror thriller out this August in cinemas! With the cast lead by Stephen Lang and directed by Marcus Nispel (PATHFINDER, CONAN THE BARBARIAN) the movie revolves around a group of young people who, after a party in an abandoned asylum, accidentally release an evil spirit that starts to possess them one by one.

Beside reading the interview we did with Shaun Smith earlier, check out what Marcus Nispel had to say on his cooperation with the ultra talented special make up effects supervisor: Shaun impressed me with the work that he did on 300 and we've worked together ever since CONAN. He does the most amazingly realistic masks and prosthetics and he designs creatures that would blow you away, but what makes me pilgrimage to him again and again is his conceptual understanding and methodology when it comes to something that we are both firm believers in: camera effects. Too many movies look like blown up video games these days. On the set actors, stunt men, puppeteers, people pulling wires, applying make up, prosthetics, smoke and mirrors all need to work in concert and when we are staging a “Big Kill” Shaun is King. He comes up with many production savvy ideas that make a impossible budget possible. It is Shaun’s infinite ingenuity and flexibility that brings it all together. I consult with him before I embark on a project and our relation is a relation of great trust and faith in each other.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE TO VOYAGE WITH CHRIS PRATT?

One of those films that we keep reporting for years with different actors (from Keanu to Reese), is definitely sf movie PASSENGERS. Earlier last winter we reported that Chris Pratt could take the lead role and now Sony is moving on with the project giving him Jennifer Lawrence as the possible female lead. That would mean currently two of the most profitable stars leading the $150 million movie set on an interstellar journey that will take nearly a century to complete. Chris Pratt will play a man who wakes up just ten years into the voyage, and decides to awaken a female passenger (Jennifer Lawrence) so he doesn't die alone, but then they discover a malfunction on the ship that could put all of their lives at risk.
