Although I thought they might air it at Christmas,  BBC has kept their latest TV series adaptation of an Agatha Christie work TOWARDS ZERO for this year and it will start airing March 2nd on BBC One, and to mark the announcement they released first trailer for the new series to entice you with our dearest Oliver Jackson Cohen in the lead role with Anjelica Huston and Matthew Rhys also in the cast. I think that Britbox will stream it for the viewers in Canada and United States sometime this year as well.

Featuring coastal views, heated summer soirees, and a trip to Wimbledon Centre Court, the series is set in England, 1936. After a scandalous celebrity divorce, Nevile Strange (Oliver Jackson Cohen) and his ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lilly Hyland) make the unthinkable decision to spend a summer together at Gull’s Point, their childhood home and the coastal estate of Nevile's aunt, Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston). With unfinished business between the former childhood sweethearts, plus the presence of Nevile’s new wife Kay (Mimi Keene), tensions are running high. Add to this a long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge, a venerable family lawyer, an inquisitive orphan and a French con man, and soon there will be murder. As Variety reports Oliver Jackson Cohen and Jeremy Neumark Jones will lead new WW2 movie THE WORLD WILL TREMBLE playing prisoners who broke out of the Third Reich’s first Nazi death camp, Chelmno. Anton Lesser, Michael Fox,  Michael Epp and David Kross will also star! Of the more than 320,000 Jews sent to Chelmno, only four are known to have survived. Two of them attempted an escape to expose the truth and share the barbarity they witnessed. Lior Geller directed and wrote the film.

Well, here is our first period set new series to be ordered for production this year: Disney Plus is set to turn CJ Sansom's SHARDLAKE novels into a four part Tudor era set series. Justin Chadwick will direct and sadly that is not a good news as he directed those two atrocities The Other Boleyn Girl and Becoming Elizabeth. The first book in the series, Dissolution, introduces readers to Dr Matthew Shardlake, a hunchback lawyer-turned-detective in Tudor England. He is sent by Thomas Cromwell, the ultimate Tudor powerbroker, to investigate the beheading of Robin Singleton, a commissioner responsible for disbanding monasteries after Henry VIII declared himself supreme head of the Church of England.

A bunch of first looks for you today starting with the first photo of Kelvin Harrison in CHEVALIER movie which will premiere at Toronto Film Festival. He portrays Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the son of a slave and a plantation owner, who became popular at the French court as a composer. Lucy Boynton plays Marie Antoinette with Samara Weaving in the lead female role. The film will hit theatres August 23rd.

TEERS, a new big screen adaptation of Alexandre Dumas famous story, with François Civil as young d'Artagnan, Romain Duris as Aramis, Vincent Cassel as Athos, Pio Marmaï as Porthos and the godawful Eva Green as treacherous Milady de Winter. First movie, in the planned super lavish duology, D'ARTA- GNAN will arrive April 5th 2023, while the second one MILADY will arrive December 13th next year. In the rest of the cast Eric Ruf is Cardinal Richelieu, Vicky Krieps is queen Anne, Louis Garrel is King Louis XIII, Jacob Fortune-LLoyd sadly replaces Oliver

COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO ALSO IN WORKS

The shooting, which started last Autumn and will last till May, will cover Louvre Palace, the Castles of Fontainebleau and Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Fort la Latte and Chantilly, as well as the citadel of Saint-Malo. After these 60 million euro worth two movies, Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte will continue to explore the work of the famous French author as the duo is also preparing a new adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo.

MALCOLM'S LIST period set costume drama movie! This Regency era drama, directed by Emma Holly Jones, sees Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù portraying the titular hero. In the film, which you can get an exclusive first look today in the photos from Vanity Fair, Dìrísù plays the dashing Mr. Malcolm, a wealthy and elegant suitor looking for a bride who meets all the qualifications he has on his list. Freida Pinto plays Selina Dalton, a woman who helps her friend Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton) get revenge on Mr. Malcolm after he rejects her for falling short of his lofty criteria. The film, which arrives to theatres July 12st this summer, is based on the book of the same name by Suzanne Allain and the cast is rounded out by Oliver Jackson-Cohen as the sociable Lord Cassidy; Ashley Park as the bubbly Gertie Covington, and Theo James as the debonair Captain Henry Ossory! The book previously had a short movie adaptation with more or less the same actors. Stay tuned for the first trailer which should come soon, methinks.
