   WOLF HALL SERIES TRAILER

FOR THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT SEQUEL

BBC and PBS Masterpiece have released a trailer for the sequel to their classic costume drama WOLF HALL now titled THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT which finished shooting back in April and is set to air over in United Kingdom from November 10th as their new Sunday evening series, and over

Charlie Rowe as Gregory Cromwell

THE STORY IS NOW SET IN MAY 1536.

Anne Boleyn, Henry’s second wife, is dead. As the axe drops, Thomas Cromwell emerges from the bloodbath to continue his climb to power and wealth, while his formidable master, Henry, settles to short-lived happiness with his third queen, Jane Seymour. Cromwell, a man with only his wits to rely on, has no great family to back him, and no private army. Navigating the moral complexities that accompany the exercise of power in this brutal and bloody time, Cromwell is caught between his desire to do what is right and his instinct to survive. But in the wake of Henry VIII having executed his queen, no one is safe. Despite rebellion at home, traitors plotting abroad and the threat of invasion testing Henry’s regime to breaking point, Cromwell’s robust imagination sees a new country in the mirror of the future. All of England lies at his feet, ripe for innovation and religious reform. But as fortune’s wheel turns, Cromwell’s enemies are gathering in the shadows. The inevitable question remains: how long can anyone survive under Henry’s cruel and capricious gaze?

Eagerly awaited and years in the making, THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT will trace the final four years of Cromwell’s life, completing his journey from self-made man to the most feared, influential figure of his time. DAMIAN LEWIS AND MARK RYLANCE ARE BACK TO HENRY VIII'S COURT FOR WOLF HALL SECOND AND FINAL SEASON THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT

 WOLF HALL SERIES SEQUEL

THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT

Although I found Wolf Hall series a dreary borefest I am sure some of you will rejoice hearing that is getting a second and final season from BBC based on Hilary Mantel's THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT novel. Mark Rylance will reprise his role as Thomas Cromwell, while Damian Lewis will again reign as King Henry VIII, with Jonathan Pryce as Cardinal Wolsey, in the story about the final four years of Cromwell’s life, completing his journey from self-made man to the most feared, influential figure of his time. The story picks up exactly where Wolf Hall ended, with the execution of Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn, who was played rather unsuccessfully by the wooden Claire Foy. The series will air on PBS Masterpiece.

FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER

TO BECOME SERIES AT NETFLIX

Mike Flanagan will produce the series

While you are currently watching his horror series Midnight Mass over at Netflix, Mike Flanagan has closed a deal with the streamer to turn Edgar Allan Poe's famous Gothic story THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER into a television series. Although the title is connected with one of his stories, the series will apparently cover multiple of his works. The story, published in 1893, features themes of madness, family, isolation and metaphysical identities. It follows a man who visits his friend, Roderick Usher, who lies ill in a gloomy estate. Spooky events inside and outside the house escalate into a terrifying conclusion to the physical and ancestral House of Usher. It is not known if the eight episode series will be period set or not.
