Launching ITV's new streamer ITVX December 8th is brand new period set series A SPY AMONG FRIENDS and we have a trailer for it today! Based on the best-selling book by Ben Macintyre, the six-episode series dramatises the true story of Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby (Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis), two British spies and lifelong friends. Philby was the most notorious British defector and Soviet double agent in history. This is a story of intimate duplicity; loyalty, trust and treachery. Philby’s deeply personal betrayal, uncovered at the height of the Cold War, resulted in the gutting of British and American Intelligence. The series will also air on MGM+ in USA (formerly known as Epix) as of March 12th, and possibly on Britbox! Check out the trailer below:

New Line Cinema has set voice cast for their animated epic movie LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM which will follow the House of Helm Hammerhand, the mighty King of Rohan voiced by Brian Cox! The story is set 183 years before the original movie trilogy. A sudden attack by Wulf (Luke Pasqualino), a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg – a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep.  FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER 

TO BECOME SERIES AT NETFLIX

Mike Flanagan will produce the series

While you are currently watching his horror series Midnight Mass over at Netflix, Mike Flanagan has closed a deal with the streamer to turn Edgar Allan Poe's famous Gothic story THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER into a television series. Although the title is connected with one of his stories, the series will apparently cover multiple of his works. The story, published in 1893, features themes of madness, family, isolation and metaphysical identities. It follows a man who visits his friend, Roderick Usher, who lies ill in a gloomy estate. Spooky events inside and outside the house escalate into a terrifying conclusion to the physical and ancestral House of Usher. It is not known if the eight episode series will be period set or not.
