Netflix has released first trailer for their small screen television series adaptation of THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER which will, based on Edgar Allan Poe's story, start streaming October 12th

The series will stream in eight episodes

ahead of the Halloween holidays!

 the story of the eight episode series, described as an epic tale of greed, horror and tragedy, follows ruthless siblings Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Carla Gugino), who have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth. So, a very, very loose adaptation of Poe's famous work.

The series is out this October

The cast of the eight part series also includes Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, our boy Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet. Bruce Greenwood had previously replaced Frank Langella in the lead role after he was accused of misconduct at the set and was kicked out of the series by Netflix.

Netflix has finally released some first photos and also an Autumn start date for their small screen television series adaptation of THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER which will, based on Edgar Allan Poe's famous work, be contemporary it seems not period set as we were hoping before. The eight episode adaptation will start streaming October 12th ahead of the Halloween holidays!  Hopefully we will get a trailer soon as well but for now you can check out the first images from the series unveiled today by the streamer.

We are still at MipTV at Cannes, today with the news that  France’s Oble is offering to the international buyers, a four part series THE PLAGUE, a modern adaptation of Albert Camus’ novel! Although the story in the book is set in the 1940s, the miniseries is set in 2029 in a society still recovering from the waves of COVID epidemics and that is now facing a much deadlier plague. Hugo Becker will lead the cast with Frederic Pierrot and Sofia Essaidi and the shooting starts today in France.

Earlier this weekend I told you that Spanish production house Mediapro, who previously did The Head series and sold it to more than 90 countries

The series is for the adult audience not kids

around the world, is preparing THE YOUNG POE English language series with an international cast. Based on Cuca Canals novels, it imagines Poe as a precocious, irrepressible, neurotic and highly Gothic 11 or 12 year-old in 1820 Boston, grounding in true events of Poe’s childhood the extraordinarily analytical and morbid mind which Edgar Allen Poe brings to his fiction! In the series, the young Poe sparks the interest of the local police through his precocious capacity to solve murder mysteries. He ends up becoming a faithful assistant to Boston’s Inspector Auguste Dupin, a kindred soul.

It will not stream before November 2nd, but Netflix has released first trailer for their new World War II set series ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE based on the beloved bestseller. Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti and Nell Sutton), a blind French girl and her father, Daniel LeBlanc (Mark Ruffalo), flee German-occupied Paris with a legendary diamond to keep it from falling into the hands of the Nazis. Relentlessly pursued by a cruel Gestapo officer who seeks to possess the stone for his own selfish means, Marie-Laure and Daniel soon find refuge in St. Malo, where they take up residence with a reclusive uncle (Hugh Laurie) who transmits clandestine radio broadcasts as part of the resistance. Yet here in this once-idyllic seaside city, Marie-Laure’s path also collides inexorably with the unlikeliest of kindred spirits: Werner (Louis Hofmann), a brilliant teenager enlisted by Hitler’s regime to track down illegal broadcasts, who instead shares a secret connection to Marie-Laure as well as her faith in humanity and the possibility of hope. I know Halloween is still far away, but if you happen to be in the mood for something spooky, today's spotlight is just your thing: today I am bringing you a trailer for RAVEN'S HOLLOW period set horror movie which will have its world premiere at Fright Fest in UK August 27th before streaming on AMC's horror oriented streamer Shudder from September 22nd. Our dearest William Moseley leads the movie inspired by an incident in the life of American mystery writer Edgar Allan Poe when he was a West Point military cadet in 1830. Callum Woodhouse from The Durrells and All Creatures Great and Small also stars.

Based on Ben Macintyre's book, it follows the defection of British intelligence officer and KGB double agent, Kim Philby (Guy Pearce), through the lens of his complex relationship with MI6 colleague and close friend, Nicholas Elliott (Lewis). While you are currently watching his horror series Midnight Mass over at Netflix, Mike Flanagan has closed a deal with the streamer to turn Edgar Allan Poe's famous Gothic story THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER into a television series. Although the title is connected with one of his stories, the series will apparently cover multiple of his works. The story, published in 1893, features themes of madness, family, isolation and metaphysical identities. It follows a man who visits his friend, Roderick Usher, who lies ill in a gloomy estate. Spooky events inside and outside the house escalate into a terrifying conclusion to the physical and ancestral House of Usher. It is not known if the eight episode series will be period set or not.
