KING AND CONQUEROR SERIES
UNVEILS FIRST ROYAL IMAGES
After announcing that Nikolaj Coster Waldau and James Norton will lead their eight part historical series KING AND CONQUEROR
playing 11th century figures William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold,
Earl of Wessex, respectively, with Emily Beecham as Harold’s wife Edith and Clemence Poésy as William’s wife Matilda, BBC has unveiled the first images as well for the series that will arrive sometime in 2025. If I got it right it will air on CBS in USA.
IT TELLS THE STORY OF
a clash that defined the future of a country, and a
continent, for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back
decades
and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties,
struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea. Harold of
Wessex and William of Normandy were two men destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings
in 1066; two allies with no design on the British throne, who found
themselves forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for
possession of its crown.
WHO ELSE IS AT THE COURT?
Ingvar Sigurdsson is Fitzosbern, William’s protector since he was a boy
and the closest thing he has to a friend. A grounded and straightforward
soldier who has stood beside William his whole life.
Eddie Marsan is King Edward, the weak and pious King of England; Juliet Stevenson is his mother, Lady Emma, the true power behind the throne; Jean Marc Barr is
King Henry of France, a father figure to William and the uncle of
William’s wife, Matilda, and an extremely dangerous man to have as your
enemy; Geoff Bell is Godwin, the patriarch of the Godwin household and a fierce protector of Wessex and the Godwin legacy; Elliot Cowan is Sweyn, Harold’s eldest brother and arrogance personified; Bo Bragason is Queen Gunhild, the youngest Godwin sibling who married King Edward to secure Godwin blood on the throne; Bjarne Henriksen is Earl Siward, a rough, old-time Dane; Oliver Masucci is Baldwin, the father of Matilda and a cunning politician; Clare Holman is Gytha, Harold’s mother and a strong force in the Godwin family. Luther Ford will be Tostig, the youngest son of the Godwin family
who idolizes Harold and wants to always do what is right for his
family, but he’s yet to find his place in the world. Elander Moore will star as cruel and devious aristocrat Morcar, Indy Lewis as the sheltered Margaret, Jason Forbes as the loyal Thane Thomas, Ines Asserson as the eligible Judith and Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson as fearsome warrior Hardrada. Leo Legrand will play William’s half-brother, Odo, a cowardly opportunist.
Ohh we will see Queen Emma and Godwin, but not with our favorite actors. This looks so good, hope they release it in Spring. I believe it will be shown in Paramount.
ReplyDeleteYes, Juliet Stevenson absolutely does not look like our goddess Laura Berlin, actually she is the polar opposite, sadly. No, Paramount is the distributor, but BBC produced it with CBS. BBC is no longer able to fund series like this one by themselves.
DeleteWhat I meant is that in America we might see it in Paramount.
DeleteNo, Paramount Studios are distributing internationally, CBS is the producer with BBC, it should air on CBS you have it even on Wikipedia page.
DeleteDear Gattocito, I don’t wish to exhaust your limited feline patience, but A) Wikipedia says it is produced by CBS not that it will be aired on that channel. B) CBS is a commercial channel, one of the three original networks, nowadays they don’t show miniseries, particularly period or epic dramas . Remember what happened with NBC and The Gilded Age. C) Paramount owns CBS. D) To stream regular CBS programming one has to go to their platform, Paramount +. I may be wrong, but chances are it will be shown in Paramount.
DeleteI know what CBS is and I know it is confusing as they do not usually air things like this, but it is not unheard of, even ABC had that OF KINGS AND PROPHETS show once... And it literally does say it is on CBS over at Wikipedia, just look at the box in the right, at the bottom it says original release BBC UK CBS USA. So either they have made a mistake, or it will air both on CBS and Paramount, we will wait and see, everything is possible. They might air it on Sunday nights or something. Or pair it up with something else.
DeleteIs James Norton a rising star? Lately you have written some films and series involving him.
ReplyDeleteRising? Deary, he has been around for more than a decade, maybe even longer LOL He is one of UKs top TV stars.
DeleteJames has definitely been a household name for ages, but I was just thinking the same as Angie that he really seems to be in a lot of projects lately. We LOVE to see that too because we can't get enough of his adorable face.
ReplyDeleteEvery actor has two or three busy years in t heir lives, sadly it is usually just that for most of them and then they just fade into background. Remember when Keely Hawes was in everything three or four years ago, now we barely even see her in anything.
DeleteUnfortunately so. Do you suppose it's burnout on their part or the industry that decides they are sick of seeing them and casts them aside?
DeleteIt is just how it is, even with singers, most of them have just one major hit album, possibly two and never three or four.
