REBUS REBOOT SERIES
ARRIVING FINALLY THIS MONTH TO BBC
With our dear Richard Rankin in the lead role, Viaplay and BBC TV series reboot of REBUS detective show is ready to start this month, launching May
17th on BBC Scotland and then May 18th on BBC One as their new Saturday night show. Based on the best-selling books by Ian Rankin, new series reimagines the iconic character John Rebus (Richard Rankin) as a younger Detective Sergeant, drawn into a violent criminal conflict that turns personal.
Rebus arrives to BBC next weekend |
SET IN CONTEMPORARY SCOTLAND
new series follows John Rebus as he finds
himself at a psychological crossroads! At odds with a job increasingly
driven by corporate technocrats, involved in a toxic affair he knows he
needs to end, and all but supplanted in his daughter's life by his
ex-wife's wealthy new husband, Rebus begins to wonder if he still has a
role to play – either as a family man or a police officer. In a world of
divisive politics and national discord, does the law still have
meaning,
or is everyone reverting to an older set of rules? And if so,
why shouldn't Rebus do so too?
Richard Rankin leads the new show |
Brian Ferguson plays Rebus' brother Michael, Neshla Caplan is Michael's wife Chrissie, and Amy Manson is Rebus's ex-wife Rhona. Lucie Shorthouse will play Rebus' police partner DC Siobhan Clarke, Sean Buchanan is his mentor George Blantyre and Stuart Bowman a corrupt mobster Ger Cafferty. The series, planned for more seasons, will also be available on Viaplay streaming service. Check out the first teaser announcement below and tell us what you think.
I have watched Rebus before, but somehow didn't like it. Hope this one about young Rebus is good.
ReplyDeleteI generally don't do detective shows, but I know people actually prefer them.
DeleteI don't think this is one for me, though I do love a Scottish accent!
ReplyDeleteI myself prefer the British one.
DeleteMe too, me too! Or Irish or Aussie!
DeleteI also like foreign accents. Not everybody does, I remember that guy that used to visit here and comment, he had a blog on gorgeous men I think, he said he hates accents especially British, and when I told him I speak with British accent he stopped visiting LOL Jesus, how shallow are some people?
DeleteThe trash took itself out there, I'd say LOL
DeleteSome people are very puzzling.
DeleteKen Stott will always be Rebus to me. I've read some of the Rebus books. I'm in hospital presently with a broken femur so the proverbial captive audience. I saw an episode on Sat but didn't recognise the story.
ReplyDeleteHave not seen the original Rebus either. Hope you recover soon, sounds like a nasty crack.
