SKY'S NEW SERIES IRIS
NIAMH ALGAR AND TOM HOLLANDER TO LEAD
Sky has announced work on new mini TV series from Neill Cross titled IRIS. Niamh Algar stars as Iris Nixon, a social media manager and puzzle addict who spends her free time solving complex riddles. When she stumbles across a post online about a highly secretive code, she puts herself forward to try and crack it – leading her straight to Cameron McIntyre (Tom Hollander). But all is not as it seems and, realizing she has unwittingly unlocked a powerful new technology for McIntyre to use at will, Iris decides to steal it and disappear, leading to a cat-and-mouse chase with the philanthropist that spans the globe.
I don't think I've seen a single movie with Niamh Algar. I checked: she received two BAFTA awards, many nominations, but I don't know her. Have a nice May!
ReplyDeleteShe is quite lovely and interesting, she mostly stars in British shows, not films. You can currently see her in Mary and George sinful epic series with Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzin, where she plays Julianne's lesbian lover and a cunning whore :)
DeleteOK, thank you!
DeleteBe welcome.
DeleteI used to like solving puzzles and riddles, but it seems my patience for them wanes with every passing year. Probably should do more of them through to exercise the brain. While dementia doesn’t run in the family, my luck I’ll end up with it anyway.
ReplyDeleteI've just heard Chris Hunkworth has Alzheimer.
DeleteOh, no! Such a terrible illness. Jason's uncle passed from it a few years back. While his dad is still sharp as a tack, I do worry that Jason will end up getting it. He's already so forgetful at times. Could be the stress or the ADHD, but I can see it happening to him down the line.
DeleteI think cannabis helps with Alzheimer, but I am not sure.
DeleteHe does use it for his anxiety. I'll have to research if it's good for dementia as well.
DeleteI remember seeing a clip with some mature guy who shakes and has jittery hands but when he takes some weed it calms down all his body. It is possible that I am mixing something up with Alzheimer, but maybe I am not. I had a granny in her 80s as a student because they told her she should learn something to involve her brain and stave off Alzheimer, so she took a course in English. He should probably read a lot to keep his brain exercised.
DeleteI'll be signing him up for a course in lavender farming this summer. I can't be the only one learning how to farm if that's the family goal down the line. I should probably get him signed up for a few agriculture and farming classes as well. Even though we are still a couple years off from buying land, it's never too early to start planting those seeds of knowledge. And if it keeps Alzheimer at bay, all the better.
DeleteOur lavander is about to bloom in about two weeks or less. It is so huge we cannot walk the path next to it. But not sure that is the type of course he needs for Alz. It needs to be something intellectual not physical. He needs to do crosswords, read etc.
DeleteIt will definitely be intellectual. He's going to have to learn all of the varieties, how to cultivate, process, and manufacture it, not just in flower form, but for oils and foods as well. Gardening is not in his wheelhouse, so much like learning a new language, he's going to have to learn how a lavender business works from the ground up.
DeleteYou have big bushes of lavender at your house? I bet it smells amazing! My lilacs are finally blooming, but I didn't prune it last year so they didn't produce as many flowers this year. My cherry tree should start flowering in a few weeks and I am excited to see how many cherries we get this year. I probably only got about 1.5 pounds worth last year.
That is great, but still not good for Alz, it needs to be something that keeps your brain actively occupied, like crosswords, quizes, puzzles, books etc.
DeleteWe have just one massive bush, it is about a meter in diameter, there are also four of five smaller ones, some are white lavander, but they are semialive. The smell itself is not as opulent as people would expect, you really have to stick into your nose to feel anything.
You are about a month behind us this year, we now only have roses and irises.
It's really weird that we are a bit behind on growth this year since we had quite a warm winter. I thought that would have forced blooms to pop earlier, but no such luck.
DeleteDo you not make anything with your lavender or you just leave it for yard beautification? My friend Jackie wants to hang dried lavender from her shop ceiling (most of her shop is crystals and witchy shit so it would fit with her aesthetic), but it is so expensive. Just a small bunch costs $10 and wouldn't even cover 10 inches of space. She should probably just get some russian salvia since it looks similar and grows quickly, she could have her ceiling covered in no time.
I think that they cut them at some point and make bouquetts and give them to someone to sell, forgot whom. We also put them around the house in the cupboards and wardrobes as they stave off bugs and moths. It is maybe dollar here for a small bunch. We have a lavander festival in the middle of summer in front of the local greenmarket in my block. I have to admit that I am not a big smell of lavander fragrance, I prefer violets when it comes to flower smells. Although currently I either smell like apples or musk/citrus combo. I still have tons of Dove that you sent me too LOL
DeleteI like the scent when I am taking a bath to unwind or when I'm getting ready for bed. Not for day wear though. I know it's not a popular scent, but I like rose scents. Blueberries and apples are my top fragrance notes for both home and body though.
DeleteI imagine that Dove will last you quite some time! Their bottles are pretty big.
Probably till the end of the year LOL They have a lavander one too, but I did not like the smell, it was too strong. I did like Oriflame's lavander shower gel last year. I wish we had more fruit body mists here, but we don't and I don't like perfumes and deodorants.
