CITY IN THE MIDDLE OF NIGHT
TO BECOME SF SERIES AT SONY
Sony has, meanwhile, optioned TV series rights for sf novel THE CITY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT by Hugo and Nebula award winner Charlie Jane Anders which was published this year by Tor. Generations ago, the settlers of the planet January created a civilization on the edge of
endless environ- mental extremes, between frigid pitch black and blinding, scorching brilliance. The city of Xiosphant functions with tyrannical precision, enforcing its citizens to work, eat, and sleep in specific blocks of time mandated day and night. Sophie was a college student before being exiled from the city on suspicion of treason. Driven into January’s glacial night side to die, she is rescued by the planet’s native inhabitants. Long hated and hunted by humans as animals, these extraterrestrial beings known as the Gelet not only save Sophie, but form a telepathic bond with her in an attempt to build a bridge between their species.
Returned to human society, Sophie finds herself swept up in a revolution to overthrow Xiosphant’s authoritarian government. It is a war she wants no part of, a conflict that will only further decimate an already unstable planet. Now, it’s up to Sophie to convince her people that humanity’s future and very survival lies with the Gelet.
Expanse's Sharon Hall will produce the series |
Even if the future in the midst of artificial intelligence, there is still the need for a private investigator? If he's the PI, I may go missing too. :)
ReplyDeletePrivate eyes and spies will always have business to do!
DeleteRobots seem to be the hot trend in SF action movies. The missing of a person, especially a family member, is always a good starting point for a thriller.
ReplyDeleteThe name Zone (414) reminds me of the exclusive Zone of some 30 kilometers in Chernobyl.
And that forbidden zone in Roswell which millions want to storm and reveal alien secrets!
DeleteEh, sci fi means I have more time to catch up on what I actually want to watch.
ReplyDeleteThat is why you'd never survive an apocalypse, you never got preparation from sf :)
DeleteI hope I'm the first one knocked out if an apocalypse comes. I love my modern conveniences way to much to try to make it on my own.
DeleteI'd like to try, but I'd most probably die five meters from my house.
