So, my people, tell me how did you like last night's GOLDEN GLOBES 2013? I must admit nobody actually amazed me when it comes to fashion. There were some lovely outfits and some eye destroying pieces. Click on the pics to see them bigger size!
THE BEAUTIES
I don't know if everybody will agree that Lucy Liu was the best looking, but she sure was the most cheerful one bringing light and delightful charm to the red carpet in her floral ball gown. I also liked Naomi
Watts' burgundy red dress, which was totally cut on the back, but I didn't like her hairdo. Three ladies who opted for refined black colour also looked beautiful: Eva Longoria was breathtaking in her black lace
dress with a sexy cut, Kate Hudson was also sexy in her retro dress with golden elements, while Sofia Vergara brought midnight hotness to the red carpet in her sparkly dark gown.
THE PRETTIES
Also pretty, but maybe not so breathtaking were Emily Blunt in gold, Julia Louis Dreyfus in her enchanting ball gown, Salma Hayek
who had a bad hair day, but she did look sexy in her tight and sparkly dress, while Miranda Kerr was the vixen of the evening in her glamorous cherry dress.
RED FIRES
Lots of ladies have opted for red this year, among them Jennifer Lawrence, who was maybe overly simple, Jennifer Garner, whose
dress was nice but had a bad make up, while Clare Danes and Marion Cottilard looked nice, but maybe too plain for the occasion.
WHITE PEACHES
Beside black and red, white and peach colours also dominated the evening: but unfortunately all of them - Anne Hathaway, Amy
Adams, Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez, missed an interesting detail on their gowns, so they looked lovely, but too minimalistic and unnoticeable.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
Now I must admit that the blue thing on Jessica Chastain is the ugliest thing I've ever seen on any red carpet in my life and it was even vulgar and offensive in a way. Nicole Kidman and DOWNTON
ABBEY's Michelle Dockery looked a bit stiff, and I have no idea how on earth gorgeous Rachel Weisz chose that horrid polka dot black thing? Three sexy ladies Olivia Munn, Rosario Dawson and Sienna Miller didn't look sexy at all thanks to their bad choices, while Zooey
Deschanel is steadily becoming the worst dressed celebrity when it comes to red carpets - with a bad hairdo and white pearls she looked like her granny chose her outfit.
THE TOWER TRAILER
And for those who don't care for red carpet fashion, here's a super exciting trailer for Asian blockbuster THE TOWER which is currently showing inUS cinemas as well. On Christmas Eve at Tower Sky, an ultra-luxurious building complex, a White Christmas party is held to dazzle its equally high-end tenants and VIP guests. Dae-ho, the manager of the building and single father, is forced to cancel plans with his daughter Hana to work the event. His Christmas is saved when Yoon-hee, the food mall manager with a secret crush on Dae-ho, offers to babysit Hana during the party. Meanwhile, Young-ki the legendary fire chief of Yoido Station has finally promised his first holiday date night to his long suffering wife. The party is in full swing with the spectacular sight of two helicopters flying
overhead just to spray snow on the partygoers and make everything perfect. When unthinkable disaster strikes, Dae-ho and Young-ki must summon all their strength and courage to save the lives of thousands but at what cost to themselves and their loved ones?
Lucy Liu is gorgeous imo though I'm not wild about the dress and I completely agree with you about Naomi's hair. I liked Anne Hathaway and JLo's gowns, too but that pink flower thing Sienna Miller is wearing is just horrid! What was she thinking? She looks like Martha Stewart.
ReplyDeleteI should've gone into fashion. I could've designed some much prettier gowns for those ladies.
methinks Sienna took her granny's pillow cases to make the dress :) And she deems herself a style icon over in UK....
DeleteIt always mystifies me why those ladies never take a dress from some of the real red carpet designers such as Versache, Cavalli... more Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad...
Claire Daines looked amazing! And I'm sorry...Jessica Chastain's hair. It looked like she had white roots! And the dress made her look completely washed out!
ReplyDeleteI'm speechless when it comes to Chastain - such horridness might never be matched even in the future...
DeleteI can't look at her the same way...
DeleteOur eyes are ruined forever... and our innocent hearts too :)
DeleteI was looking forward to your impressions about GG! ^^
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you liked Lucy Liu's outfit! I don't hate it, but the pattern looks a bit like tapestry... The shape of her dress is gorgeous, though.
I agree with you about the "worst dresses", although Kidman is not so bad.
I thought Amy Adams was a real princess as always, Sofia Vergara a bit predictable (also, she's got amazing hair, she should do something with it, Eva did and she's terrific). And I don't like Marion Cotillard flat hair either. She probably tried to look neat but instead she looks 14 and, as you said, too plain. She did much better in the past.
Have a great day ;)
well, I said it in the post - it's not that I liked the dress itself, but I appreciate her braveness to bring something cheerful, delightful and floral to the red carpet and to pull it of.
DeleteI would've liked Longoria with her hair down, with glamorous locks...
Marion would've also looked better with a more voluminous hair.
Oh, and I forgot one important thing: JLo is... not good at all, so vulgar o_O
ReplyDeleteshe is, but that is because she has such curvaceous body and thus always looks too provocative :) I did like the fact that she flaunted that dress up on the stage in front of Ben Affleck and his new missus :)
DeleteNo, I think the dress is not good anyway. But yeah, maybe there's a little bit of that.
DeleteHaha, come on, it's been years since they got divorced :P
but I bet he wasn't relaxed seeing her flaunting her stuff there and I can imagine what kind of vicious thoughts Jennifer Garner had at that moment in her head :)
DeleteWow The Tower very nice movie , and good specials effect , many good movies this year !
ReplyDeleteit is breaking records over in Asia, in Korea especially. Looks really exciting!
DeleteHaHa I did my redneck red carpet recap today too. We share many of the same opinions. I think Jessica's hair may be a fire hazard with all the product she has loaded in there. Oh and I'm pretty sure Lucy Liu smuggled some illegal aliens under that dress.
ReplyDeleteor maybe Jonny Lee Miller was hiding under her dress, you know how Holmes has to spy on everything :)
DeleteI agree with you on your gown choices. The flower print dress is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe Tower is exciting. Will watch for it.
glad you agree, Clarissa :) It was a rather bad year fashionwise, hope Oscars will be more creative.
DeleteI didn't watch it so thanks for the fashion recap. You were right about the white. Pretty and simple but missing something to make the ladies pop.
ReplyDeleteyep, it is always like that with white, especially when they go for lace and such sensitive fabrics
DeleteGoing to the tower with Megan Fox, now that would be something!
ReplyDeleteI knew you would say that, Lurk
DeleteThe Tower actually looks like an interesting movie to watch. I love your fashion updates, especially since I missed out on watching the golden globes last night!
ReplyDeleteNutschell

you can expect Oscars red carpet fashion report too soon :)
DeleteTotally agree with you in the 'what were they thinking!' department.
ReplyDeleteglad you do, Carol!
DeleteI really did not like Nicole Kidman's dress. It had such a strange imbalance to it. And I'm not usualy a fan of white or nude colored dresses, but I thought Anne Hathaway looked pretty in hers with her short dark hair.
ReplyDeleteNicole always looks kinda like her face does after all the surgeries and botox - stiff, cold and scary.
DeleteI got to say "Hotcha-cha" your choices dead on... my friend. Special shout out to Miranda Kerr.... and a follow up not-so-good Julianne Moore, still looked nice but....
ReplyDeleteit is interesting that Moore looked so bad that none of the big sites took her pics :) I've seen hundreds of them today and not one of her.
DeleteMiranda recently admitted that the secret of her beauty are her Serbian origins :)
yeah, i was trying to be respectful... Moore is a talented lady. but that narf dress was so... narfy.... I love Kerr, period.
ReplyDeleteshe didn't look good at Emmy awards either recently when she had that infamous mustard dress. You do know Kerr is taken by Orlando Bloom :)
DeleteI do like Lucy's dress-it's exquisite and she looked so elegant in it. It's a shame about Emily's dress. The colour wasn't good for her complexion or her hair. It just washed her out. Good God, but Miranda was working it in that dress. Men will start emigrating to Serbia after seeing that.
ReplyDeleteI like Kate Hudsons dress, but not on her. She's gotten too skinny and that low cut front needs a better rack than what she has. Jessica's dress looks like a sack of flower and the designer who made it should have his hands cut off. Poor Zooey, she's such a cute girl but no one seems to know how to dress her for the red carpet. They should incorporate her natural style and someone needs to teach her how to stand with her shoulders back for these photographs.
yes, sadly, but Millie Blunt doesn't really have style and never has, no matter how much I like her and want her to be like Winslet and Blanchett stylewise :(
DeleteAnd can you imagine that Miranda had a baby with Orly Bloom relatively recently? If I ever give birth to a baby I will be fat even when my kid hits 40th bday :)
I totally support the idea of a severe punishment for the designer of that abomination on Chastain.
Munn dressed rather plain
ReplyDeleteit was rather shocking from her...
DeleteThanks for the recap, Dez, I missed them last night...forgot what we watched. Once Upon A Time and something else. Anyhoo...
ReplyDeleteOkay...Lucy Liu is one beautiful woman, but I swear I have an oil-cloth tablecloth that looks just like that. Naomi - hot in that dress, and I thought her hair looked good.
Kate Hudson exudes sex appeal. I swear she channels her mom. Eva...always hot...Sofia, very tired-looking. The hair needed...I don't know - something done to it. It's just laying there.
Emily...not a great dress on you, but I like the style and color...just not on you. Your skin is too fair for that color. I lose you against a white wall.
And stop those presses. What the heck was Julia Louis Dreyfus thinking? My grandmother had a doll that was used to cover the extra roll of toilet paper with a dress just like that.
Miranda blew Naomi away in the burgandy.
All the reds, oranges, tangerines should walk the plank, not the red carpet. Every one - horrid!
The white dresses were beautiful, but missing veils. They all reminded me of wedding dresses.
Olivia - is that a tube top? You look like you're going to a semi-formal clambake on the beach.
And these last two...for frikken shame. Zooey Deschannel has surpassed getting on my last nerve. She's done pinched it and caused a facial tic. Just that supergirl pose is enough to make me puke, but yeah...hideous.
And Rachel...I've always loved her, but she has worn some wretched crap at times. This time she looks like she's wearing a studded condom...in black.
Thanks for posting these!
he he glad to hear you have fashion opinion too, M.L. :)
DeleteRachel really did disappoint us, so pretty and so without any style :(
Daughter n' I watched and no one really looked Hollywood stunning to either one of us! Where was the glam, the jewels? I guess I would say Miranda, Sofia and Naomi were my picks. I know everyone raved about Kate Hudson-it was not my idea of ga ga gorgeous! I love Lucy Liu, but I couldn't help but see my grammie's drapes. Frankly Lucy I did give a damn-but I give you points for unique! Fun post Dezzy-I always love your after parties! ;D
ReplyDeleteyep, for years and years now nobody has actually stunned us at all those red carpets, I don't know why.
DeleteWe shall have another red carpet report from the Oscars soon
Can't wait ;D
DeleteThank you Dezzy~
be welcome
DeleteI agree with your picks for "bad choices."
ReplyDeleteglad you do, Debs!
DeleteI didn't watch, but checked out what everyone wore this morning. My favourites were Helen Mirren and Naomi Watts. Least favourite was Nicole Kidman, who used to have such impecible taste year after year... but mysteriously seems to have lost all fashion sense in the past few.
ReplyDeleteooh, I haven't seen Mirren, she and Moore didn't appear in almost any of the fashion pictures around the web.
DeleteNicole has lost it with all of her plastic surgeries, her face doesn't look alive any more.
Also, Jodi Foster looked amazing!
ReplyDeleteI liked the upper part of her dress, but not the lower part, and her hairdo didn't suit her face.
DeleteI do agree that it was a bit severe, I like her better with a bit of blonde, but she was still beautiful nonethless - and looking good for 50 :)
Deleteyep, since she has a very square jawline, she needs elegants waves in her hair or gentle curls, because a very straight hairdo makes her face harsh.
DeleteNaomi was totally wearing Hillary's dress from the Oscars back when she won for Million Dollar Baby. Only it was blue.
ReplyDeleteI can't figure why half those women were there. Who is Miranda Kerr, Olivia Munn? Are they real actresses or just some actor's baby mamas?
I knew Naomi's dress was somehow familiar to me :)
DeleteMiranda is one of world's five biggest top models and a wife of Orlando Bloom :) Olivia Munn is a very popular TV and movie actress, she is currently starring in a very popular sitcom, I forgot the title. She has armies of geek fans :)
Thanks, hon. Still don't know them, but I'm behind the times on a lot of things. :)
Deletehere, I checked it out - Olivia is starring in two of the currently most popular new sitcoms in USA - NEW GIRL and NEWSROOM :) And she also starred in your fave MAGIC MIKE :p
DeleteLucy Liu took a risk, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteMiranda Kerr always looks gorgeous, as does Anne Hathaway.
I kind of feel sorry for Jessica Chastain.
I also loved the risk she took!
DeleteChastain was utterly horrid, wonder what she will wear for the Oscars. I don't know why she and Lawrence get awards, none of them can really act, they have zero expression on their faces.
Deschanel doesn't look that bad. Well, in comparison to the others.
ReplyDeletecompared to Chastain, certainly not
DeleteThanks for the recap and reviews of the night Dezzy ~ I prefer colors like red and beauties stars ~
ReplyDeleteI finally saw the Hobbit and just love Richard's eyes...he's dreamy ~
I will have to see the trailer later ~ Take care ~
I also love to see bold colours at the red carpet, it's the one evening when you should shine like a star not look like you're at a funeral or a wedding.
DeleteGlad you liked THE HOBBIT, Grace :)
I knew you'd have a good rundown here! I thought the ladies looked amazing overall this year. My favorites were Jennifer Lawrence and Miranda Kerr. Red looked hot!
ReplyDeletewish we'd seen some green or blue out there too :)
DeleteWhoa...The Tower looks awesome! Will definitely see that one
ReplyDeleteI think it is showing now in most of the Asia, maybe in your country too!
