HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Another Golden Globe and Oscar nominee (bet you didn't see that one
coming), Bradley Cooper also has a new project: "Deadline" writes that
he is in negotiations to star in DARK INVASIONS, which will be a movie
adaptation of Howard Bloom's book to be released this Autumn. The book
brings a true story that follows Germany's attempt to thwart the efforts
of the Allies during World War I by sending their Secret Service to
fight a covert war in America. They utilize Kaiser's bomb manufacturing
facilities to sabotage Navy Ships. They also attack the U.S. Capitol
building and setup an anthrax laboratory in close proximity to the White
House. Bradley Cooper would play a policeman who is trying to stop the
invading German spies. Bradley is obviously taking a more serious turn in his career, so after SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK and THE PLACE BEYOND PINES, next year we shall see him in another drama - SERENA. In a story set in Depression-era North Carolina, he will play George Pemberton whose timber empire faces a complicated future when it is learned that his wife, Serena (Jennifer Lawrence), cannot bear children.
SF ODYSSEY AND BEN HUR
And it seems we shall see a few epic stories up on the screen: first, Warner Bros. will do a sf remake of Homer's THE ODYSSEY. The story of famous Greek hero Odysseus who survived numerous adventures before returning home to find his wife pursued by suitors who want his throne, will be set in space. Years ago I reported about Brad Pitt being linked to this project. Another epic story will be seen in the remake of BEN HUR! "Deadline" reveals that MGM is planning a remake of the famous 19th century novel from Lee Wallace. Unlike the legendary film with infamous Charlton Heston, the new movie will explore the formative years of Judah Ben Hur and Messalla, growing up as best friends before the Roman Empire conquered Jerusalem. The story will also have Jesus Christ encountering Ben-Hur who then begins to believe that Christ is the Messiah, before the savior is killed by Pontius Pilate.
Hi, Dezzy,
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a hot pic of Anne Hathaway! Not to mention, the great legs on Bradley..... LOL.
I love the new premise for the Ben Hur flick. Showing the relationship before the betrayal.... Definitely a film I would like to see.
It is from her THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER recent photoshoot for LES MISERABLES :) And I knew someone would appreciate Bradley's legs :)
DeleteI'll have a piece of Dark Invasions!
ReplyDeleteone piece coming up to your table!
DeleteI'm not sure we need a new version of the classic film Ben Hur. A sci-fi version of the "Odyssey" could be interesting, but I can't help but think Hollywood will really screw that up.
ReplyDeleteLee
Tossing It Out
We shall see, we shall see....
DeleteThe Odyssey in space could be a riot!
ReplyDeletea total one!
DeleteYeah, adapting The Odyssey to space travel could really be interesting. Instead of witches and sirens and cyclopses, it could have all kinds of crazy aliens or wormholes getting in the way of Odysseus's return home. I like it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I haven't read The Taming of the Shrew since high school. I may have to dig that out again if/when the movie comes out. :)
it could be all kinds of epic, and we live for epic things :)
DeleteYep, I'm guessing that like me, you prefer Willie's tragedies to comedies, yes?
It's true. I haven't read a lot of the comedies. I do LOVE A MIdsummer Night's Dream, though. But, yes, I like the darker, dramatic ones better.
Deleteoh, me too, that is my fave of his comedies, I'd even played Puck in a highschool play wearing green tights :)
DeleteI like the idea of Anne in The Taming of the Shrew as well as a scifi version of The Odyssey. It could be interesting - if done right.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear I had two good pieces of news for you today, sister :) Some magnificent epic news coming tomorrow!
Deletelol at Bradley Cooper's photo. Unexpected as I scrolled down.
ReplyDeleteWe do love scrolling surprises :) Kinda like when I once scrolled down famous Chris Brown's mobile phone picture :)
DeleteSeen too much stuff based on THE ODYSSEY
ReplyDeleteI've even translated some books based on Odyssey in my country
DeleteEwww...I nearly lost my dinner over that horrid Bradley Cooper pic. Yuck! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd be on board for Shrew, it's a great play. No Ben Hur pic, H-Wood needs to start coming up with original material. This story is going to suck out loud and sideways. Ben Hur growing up? An excuse to put a pretty Twihard teenager in Charlton Heston's role.
I know you lurv lurv Cooper :P
DeleteOh, I didn't even think about the possibility of Hur being a teen crapfest... oh, hell....
I like the original "Ben-Hur" so I hope the remake doesn't ruin it.
ReplyDeletenobody can outruin what Heston had ruined before :)
DeleteDark Invasions sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see the trailer for that one. Not to mention, I love that it's based on a book =)
ReplyDeleteit is a non-fiction book, quite interesting. I know lots of people who devour WW2 books like crazy.
DeleteDezzy I love the othe Ben hur hope this one will be good, I think yes!xx
ReplyDeletefingers crossed, Gloria Dear!
