Continuing the lovely trend of films with senior actors (I've spotlighted a number of them recently), we have a delightful comedy UNFINISHED SONG (previously titled SONG FOR MARION) and you can check out the first trailer for it today. This is a London-set
comedic drama about shy, grumpy pensioner Arthur (Terence Stamp) who is reluctantly inspired by his beloved wife Marion (Vanessa Redgrave) to join a highly unconventional local choir. At odds with his son James, it is left to charismatic choir director Elizabeth (Gemma
Arterton) to try and persuade Arthur that he can learn to embrace life. Arthur must confront the undercurrents of his own grumbling persona as he embarks on a hilarious, life-affirming journey of musical self discovery.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
One of the future projects we are looking forward to is definitely sf
action SNOWPIERCER which will probably arrive to cinemas later this
year, but we now have interesting concept art pictures for the film
which is set in a futuristic time in which a disastrous attempt to
prevent
global warming has created an ice age in which the survivors struggle to adapt to existence in the only safe climate aboard the titular Snowpiercer. This is actually a huge train which constantly moves and
never stops and which carries a whole society within its wagons - survivors who live in the train separated into classes. A rather amazing cast includes Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Edd Haris, John Hurt...

SIDE EFFECTS TRAILER
Another interesting trailer I can offer you today in the dry holiday period is the second one for Steven Soderbergh's thriller SIDE EFFECTS which opens up in cinemas this February. Starring the sensational trio Jude Law, Catherine Zeta Jones and Channing Tatum the provocative thriller revolves around Emily and Martin (Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum), a successful New York couple whose world unravels when a new drug prescribed by Emily's psychiatrist (Jude Law) - intended to treat anxiety - has unexpected side effects. The tagline is - one pill can change your life.
Nummy, nummy for Gemma... I hope the world is spinning right for you... take care!
ReplyDeleteshe will be quite present in cinemas these days, since UNFINISHED SONG opens up February and HANSEL AND GRETEL WITCH HUNTERS this month
Deleteyes, she at least has one fan... me!
Deletenot only you, she is rather popular among boys over in UK as far as I know. Loved her in PRINCE OF PERSIAN, CLASH OF TITANS and in legendary ALICE CREED! And in TAMARA DREWE next to my dear Luke Evans!
DeleteHe looks not bad this movie unfinished song , I love well Terence Stamp, to follow.
ReplyDeleteCheers
glad you liked it, Cap!
DeleteTerence Stamp is the man!
Deletethat he is
DeleteUnfinished song looks wonderful! I love senior actors and am so happy that they are coming out with so many movies. We need to combat the teen flicks somehow. ;)
ReplyDeleteSide Effects is not one I'd care to see. It looks too bizarrely dramatic and not enough action or blood and guts. LOL I'm a complete barbarian, I know. ;)
yep, the only problem being that senior stars will never have blockbusters like twilight teens :((( I sometimes want to dig my eyes out when I come upon youngsters who've only heard about Maggie Smith and other big senior actors through HARRY PLONKERS :(
Deleteaahhh Dezzy I love the first trailer and of course I love vanessa Regradve she is amazing I love Terence Stamp too but he is so grumpy:)))
ReplyDeleteSOrry you have cherries only by two weeks here we have about two months, not more anyway is a
short season! now we have at home apricots so Im making mermalade (sorry by my wrong words dear)
:)
glad you liked the first trailer, Gloria, it is really lovely.
DeleteYep, we have both cherries and strawberries for a very short few weeks in late spring :(
I used apricot jam two days ago for making little sandwiches out of my lemon cookies.
One apricot jam cookie, please...with a cup of tea! :) You are serving, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteyep, with Lipton's Blueberry and Acai berry Green Tea :)
DeleteHere's the recipe for my lemon cookies:
Mix 200g margarine with 125g powder sugar, one egg, 300g flour and zest of one lemon and orange, spread the dough, cut out star or flower shapes (I have a mould which cuts out one whole flower and one with a hole in the middle) and bake at 200*C for 15 minutes. When it cools down stick two by two together with apricot jam.
thanks, dez...I'm writing this down...sounds perfect! Love the idea of the cookie cutter with the hole in the middle! Cute!
Deleteand thanks for the energy bar recipe, too...I'm really going to try that one!
be welcome, Betsy, I can find the exact recipe for energy bars if you'd like me too, I have it somewhere in my notebooks.
DeleteAnd the hole in the middle is great because when you stick the two cookies together, a bit of jam goes out through the hole and it looks like a sun or a golden flower.
Hard to tell much from one still image, but the concept behind Snowpiercer is intriguing.
ReplyDeleteit is one of my fave sf projects this year. Love me such apocalyptic stories, especially when set in an ice age! And the cast is brilliant.
Deleteglobal warming on a side note would be great during an ice age
ReplyDeleteyes?
Delete"Unfinished Song" looks really good -- it must be based on that actual geezer choir who sings modern rock music that they made a documentary about. Can't remember what the doc is called though.
ReplyDeletewe do love us geezers with style and fresh spirit
DeleteUnfinished Song looks so fun and inspiring. Just what we all need right now. Arthur may be a grump, but he's got spirit and the ability to change. This will be me and the Hubby in 20 years time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive video on a dreary Winters day darling :)
glad you enjoyed that trailer, Annzie. Would love to see you and hubs still have the spirit in 20 years time! You'll be a drumming granny!
DeleteI will play until I die and when I do, they can bury me with my bass drum.
Deleteand after that you will be the main drummer in the angel orchestra, dahlink and me will be the fat angel that sings that line from THERE MUST BE AN ANGEL from Eurithmics....
DeleteThe clip for Unfinished Song had me giggling. Looks good. Happy to see movies like this one and Exotic Marigold finding an audience. :)
ReplyDeletewe do love it when trailers make us giggle. I've just watched MARIGOLD for the second time tonight and it made me giggle once more.
DeleteUnfinished Song looks intriguing. That sounds like Celine Dion. I like these grumpy old goat movies - Jack Nicholson's starred in a couple over the past few years that I really enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteon a side note - can't wait for Celine to return, she promised a new English lg album this year! It's been way too long!
DeleteOOOH! Terrence Stamp is a rockstar!! Looking forward to seeing him onscreen again!!
ReplyDeletehe was great in PRISCILA QUEEN OF THE DESERT!
DeleteOne of my all time favorites!
DeleteAustralian films are always great
DeletePretty much!!
DeleteI like anything scifi and the trailer to side effects looks good, too. Jude Law helps it look even better ;)
ReplyDeletewe do like us Jude any time
DeleteI like the look of those movies. Especially the last one.
ReplyDeleteGlad you do, Clarissa
DeleteSnowpiercer has my attention.
ReplyDeleteI knew it would
DeleteSNOWPIERCER sounds interesting. It has my attention too :)
ReplyDeleteit should be a super exciting movie
DeleteMusicals seem to be the new thing. Also, I like how as I was reading the pitch for Snowpiercer, there were snowflakes all over from your site. :P
ReplyDeleteah, yes, here at HOLLYWOOD SPY we do everything to give you a genuine 3D experience! Next time I write about TWILIGHT I will have to come up with a way to release some nasty stench from the screen to illustrate the crapiness of the film :)
DeleteWhen the trailer can me tear up, I know it's a must see and that's exactly what Unfinished Song did for me. I laughed and then teared up and knew I had to see it - in the theatre. I love movies like these Dezzy! Thank you for always spotlighting these hopeful movies.
ReplyDelete(Tomorrow my son and I are going to see This is 40 as long as my Migraine isn't to bad. Thanks to you, the trigger is just about gone!)
glad to hear it, Elsie. Hope you will enjoy THIS IS 40. We do love Paul Rudd a lot.
DeleteI adore Paul Rudd!
Deletehe is adorkable
Deleteha ha ha! I like that, "akorkable" =PPP
Deletethat is how we like our boys in Hollywood - John Krasinski, Paul Rudd, Topher Grace...
DeleteUnfinished Song sounds like a good one! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it, Jemi
DeleteCan hardly wait for Gone Girl.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear it, Carol
DeleteOw...Snowpiecer has amazing casts!! would love to see that one
