As Deadline reports, Rob Letterman is set to turn popular kids' book MAGIC SCHOOL BUS, which has been sold so far in over 60 million copies, into a feature movie with Elizabeth Banks producing and taking the lead role as quirky science teacher Ms. Valerie Frizzle. We will follow her  and her young class of students as they board a sentient, shape-shifting school bus that transports them on educational adventures through outer space, the interior of the human body, and myriad other extraordinary settings. It will be a live-action/animated hybrid!

Fox has ordered a pilot for multicam sitcom GENIUSES that might become a companion for their hit show Last Man Standing. It will follow a blue collar couple in South Jersey trying to get by and raise four kids, three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses. They've also ordered PATTY'S AUTO pilot about an auto repair shop with all female mechanics from Roseanne's producer Darlene Hunt and Elizabeth Banks.

Another movie featuring characters beloved by many kids is also flying into theatres later this month: it is the big screen version of POWER RANGERS! I have to admit I had zero interest in this movie, but the trailer does promise a visually outstandingly gorgeous movie with the cast lead by Elizabeth Banks as vilainess Rita Repulsa and Bryan Cranston as Zordon with the POWER RANGERS played by Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger) and Becky G (Yellow Ranger). Lionsgate has a plan of turning this into a five movie franchise.

Speaking of adaptations, Bradley Cooper has joined the effort to turn famous sf novel HYPERION into sf series at SyFy. He will executive produce the mini series on the famous Dan Simmons Hugo Award winning novel set on the eve of Armageddon with the entire galaxy at war. It is the story of seven pilgrims who set forth on a voyage to seek the answers to the unsolved riddles of their lives. Each carries a desperate hope and a terrible secret — while one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands. As I've told you before SyFy is also preparing Arthur C.
