NEW TIM ALLEN SITCOM
PILOT SHIFTING GEARS ORDERED AT ABC
After the massive successes with Home Improvement and Last Man Standing, Tim Allen and producers Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully are returning to ABC who has just ordered a pilot for their new multi camera sitcom SHIFTING GEARS. Allen will play Matt, described as a stubborn widower who owns a classic car shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration will begin though. Meanwhile, CBS has ordered a multicam pilot for Chuck Lorre's Young Sheldon spin off following Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage. Rival NBC has ordered SOMETHING WICKED mutlicam sitcom pilot with June Diane Raphael as lead. It is described as a comedy with a Bewitched-type premise and an homage to TV sitcom classics. It examines the condition of modern adult womanhood and how even with witchcraft, balancing everything is impossible.
Like Tim Allen...his Santa Claus was the best..I remember his Sitcom Home Improvement was pretty funny too.
ReplyDeleteIt was and so was Last Man Standing, at least in first six or seven seasons. It is strange he is coming back to ABC given that LMS was unjustly cancelled there and then he moved it to Fox where it lived three more years.
DeleteYay! I am excited for a new Tim Allen sitcom! I'm sad that Home Improvement didn't get a new life, but at least we have this to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how he always makes his character similar so the audience will always have a feeling that Matt could actually be Tim or Mike Baxter now retired and older LOL because they all worked on old cars. The success of this will depend on the rest of the casting, fingers crossed they cast someone we love as his daughter and some nice teens for the grandkids.
DeleteHe's one of the few that can get away with playing the same type of character over and over again and we will keep coming back for me.
DeleteHope it will have better storylines than the last seasons of LMS
