As you may know, the shooting has started for the sequel DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 with the main four returning to the cast - Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Anne Hathaway, but the latest news is that Kenneth Branagh has joined them as Miranda Priestly's husband with whom she does not have such a happy marriage. According to Variety the storyline will reportedly follow Miranda Priestly, the demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She faces off against Blunt’s character, her one-time assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the original film, are returning for the sequel which arrives next May.

BBC Two has, meanwhile, sent us the first images from their new historical series THE GALLOWS POLE which, based on the book by Benjamin Myers, fictionalises the remarkable true story of the rise of David Hartley and the Cragg Vale Coiners. Set in the moorland hills of 18th Century Yorkshire, the drama follows the enigmatic David Hartley (played by Michael Socha), as he assembles a gang of weavers and land-workers to embark upon a revolutionary criminal enterprise that will capsize the economy and become the biggest fraud in British history. Also starring are Sophie McShera who plays Grace, with Thomas Turgoose as William Hartley, Yusra Warsama as Bethsheba, Anthony Welsh as Abe Oldfield, Samuel Edward-Cook as Isaac Hartley, Joe Sproulle as Joe, and Adam Fogerty as James Broadbent, Nicole Barber-Lane as Susie, Fine Time Fontayne as Joseph Broadbent, with Ralph Ineson as The Clothier. Kenneth Branagh has released the first teaser for his new Agatha Christie movie adaptation A HAUNTING IN VENICE which arrives to cinemas this September starring Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Kelly Reilly, Kyle Allen. Set in a post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the film follows another mystery featuring the celebrated sleuth Poirot as he reluctantly attends a séance at a haunted palazzo. After one of the guests is murdered, the former detective must once again find out who did it. The movie looks more like a cheap horror than a Christie movie to me, but you can check it out yourself, his first two adaptations were atrocious.

Gwyneth Hughes will write the new one (not that her Vanity Fair gig for ITV was any better).

As 'Deadline' reports today, he will play the lead role in the movie scheduled for December 2019 in which Branagh will again play famous detective Hercule Poirot beside directing the movie. As much as I wanted to love it, Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express was a ghastly bore for me, but it does not mean the new film in the series won't be better. As 'Deadline' reports, Gal Gadot has just joined him in his new adaptation of DEATH ON THE NILE in which, beside directing, he will again play Hercule Poirot. The writer is, sadly, the same as in Orient Express, but unlike that one, where a murder happened on a train, in this one Poirot is investigating a murder on a boat. Gal Gadot will be rich heiress Linnet Ridgeway Doyle who was enjoying that luxurious cruise when the murder happened only to continue again when the suspects start dying one by one.The movie should be out for New Year's Eve 2019! Just a month before that you will be watching Gadot in Wonder Woman sequel.

IN WW2 'BENJAMIN'S CROSSING'

Ladies, rejoice! It's the British Boys day today here! First stop Firthville! As 'Deadline' reports Colin Firth will star in BENJAMIN'S CROSSING period set drama about a man who crossed the Pyrenees Mountains running away from the Nazis!

Based on Jay Parini novel (his other novel The Last Station on Tolstoy has already been adapted), it is a  a true story set in 1940 when Jewish philosopher Benjamin finds himself forced to flee his home in Paris on the heels of the Nazi invasion. With nowhere else to turn, he meets Lisa Fittko, who is helping refugees escape to Spain through the Pyrenees. Despite his weak physical condition, Lisa reluctantly agrees to bring him along, leading an unlikely group of refugees on a daring adventure that will change their lives forever.

FRANK 'KEEPER OF THE DIARY'

Just a week ago you saw the first photos from Kenneth Branagh's directed Murder on Orient Express, in which he also plays Hercule Poirot the famous detective, and now he will play another famous Jew - Otto Frank in KEEPER OF THE DIARY which depicts his struggle to find a publisher for the diary written by his daughter Anne Frank before she perished in the Holocaust. He was aided by an ambitious young woman who, fresh out of the Doubleday typing pool, became a junior editor trying to find her way by combing through the slush pile for publishable manuscripts. She and Otto Frank found each other and their perseverance led to the publication of one of the most enduring documents of the Holocaust. That woman, Barbara Zimmerman, became a publishing legend at Doubleday and was the founder of the New York Review of Books. As 'Deadline' writes, the movie is set right after the WW2.

Meanwhile, another of our beloved Brits, ever so charming and lovely, Rafe Spall, will star in a more light of genres - a comedy DENMARK - with a rather funny plot: the story will follow a man’s decision to leave behind his dreary life and start afresh. Spall will play Herb, a down on his luck Welshman with no job, horrible neighbours and even worse prospects. When he discovers that Danish convicts live a luxurious life he could only dream of, he finally feels that he has something to aspire to: a life in Denmark as a prisoner. Spall's currently shooting new Jurassic World.

Delightful photo treat comes to you today from the latest edition of 'Entertainment Weekly' who have published the first cast photos from the latest big screen adaptation of Agatha Christie's famous detective novel MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS directed by legendary Kenneth Branagh who also takes the lead role of the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, this time with some seriously huge moustaches :)  He is tasked with finding a mysterious murderer aboard the famous train stuck in the middle of a blizzard somewhere in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Her cinematic highness Judi Dench stars as Princess Dragomiroff who is acting all helpless and confused which she actually isn't. Johnny Depp stars as Edward Ratchett, a paranoid, rich businessman with dark secrets! Michelle Pfeiffer is a loud and very annoying American on the train. Daisy Ridley is the quick thinking governess Mary Debenham. Penelope Cruz is Pilar Estravados, the missionary who actually isn't a stranger to rough situations. Sir Derek Jacobi is Masterman, Ratchett's butler, who has a spiky relationship with his boss! Willem Dafoe is Austrian professor Gerhard Hardman, armed in a number of ways. Tom Bateman is flirty louche director of the train company and a friend of Poirot’s! The  lavish train ride through Europe which quickly unfolds into the thrilling mystery of thirteen strangers stranded on a train, where everyone's a suspect, should start in cinemas later this November. One man must race against time to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.

Your second movie treat for today is the long awaited first trailer for Stephen King's latest adaptation THE DARK TOWER, a Ron Howard produced science fiction film highly stylized epic adventure, which should finally arrive into theatres across the world after many years of problematic production at the beginning of August!

ELUSIVE DARK TOWER

The story of the movie actually continues the one from the books rather than directly adapting one of them, and follows Idris Elba's  The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, who roams an Old West like and post apocalyptic landscape where "the world has moved on" in pursuit of the man in black played by Matthew McConaughey. Also searching for the fabled and powerful Dark Tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world. Located in the End World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is a link to other worlds and a bridge in the time space continuum. The studio is envisioning this as a movie trilogy with two seasons of a TV series in between the films.
