FIRST LOOK AT NEW BBC ONE TV SERIES

British Broadcaster BBC One has released first images and a trailer for their new psychological thriller TV series THE RAPTURE adapted from Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel. The five parter is a high-stakes thriller which crackles with danger. Set in a heatwave, with protestors on the streets, forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio). Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (Sam Hazeldine), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religiousmovement. Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future - but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did? The cast also includes Iwan Rheon, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lisa Palfrey, Siena Kelly, Naby Dakhli, Richard Elis, Dean Rehman, Robert Rhodes and Ruth Jones.

The first film is out in cinemas next June

 commitment between 1940 and 1945, and trace his development towards a political career. Simon Abkarian takes the lead role with Simon Russell Beale as Winston Churchill. The two part historical thriller saga is charting the French Resistance during WWII through the eyes of General Charles de Gaulle. Benoît Magimel stars as Pierre Koenig, Mathieu Kassovitz as Francois Darlan, Niels Schneider as General Leclerc, and Campbell Scott as Franklin D. Roosevelt. After the first look pictures and new names to join Hugh Bonneville, Charlotte Spencer, Emun Elliott, Tom Cullen, Stefanie Martini and Sam Spruell in the second season of BBC's THE GOLD series that were revealed in February, we now have the trailer and also June 8th as the return date for the new season. Some of the new cast members joining series two, include: Tom Hughes, Stephen Campbell Moore, Joshua McGuire, Tamsin Topolski, Joshua Samuels and Rochelle Neil as well as Antonia Desplat, Lorna Brown, Thomas Coombes, Sean Teale and our gorgeous Olivia Grant! As you probably remember the first season also included some famous names  such as Jack Lowden who is back again and Dominic Cooper. In Australia it hits Stan June 9th.

 

THE SIX PART TV SERIES

is inspired by the true story of the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery and the decades-long chain of events that followed. Following the conviction of some of those involved in the theft and handling of the Brink’s-Mat gold, the police (Hugh Bonneville, Charlotte Spencer, Emun Elliot) realised that those criminals only ever had half of it. Series two explores what happened to the other half, and the criminal fortune it created. As the police investigation continues, it becomes a tense, high-stakes journey into international money laundering and organised crime, the police embark on a series of dramatic manhunts as they desperately try to solve the longest and most expensive investigation in the history of the Metropolitan Police.

Paramount + has unveiled first trailer for their new six part UK original series LITTLE DISASTERS about four friends who were thrown together while expectant mothers with little in common apart from their due dates. When Jess (Diane Kruger) takes her baby daughter to hospital with a head injury she can’t explain, close friend and on-duty doctor Liz (Jo Joyner) is forced to make the excruciating decision as to whether to call social services on her friend. The decision sets of a chain of events that show how a moment can fracture and nearly destroy families and friendships. As the plot unfolds, the consequences of Jess and Liz’s actions come to light, families unravel and the women begin to articulate long-held judgements against each other. As the truth is unmasked, deep-rooted issues and insecurities are thrust into the spotlight as the women question what really happened to Jess’ baby. Shelley Con and Emily Taaffe will be the other two friends with JJ Feild, Ben Bailey Smith and Stephen Campbell Moore leading the male part of the cast. The series will hit the small screens May 22nd but only in UK and Ireland.

Today you can check out Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode in the first trailer from FREUD'S LAST SESSION movie! Set on the eve of the Second World War, it depicts a meeting between Freud and Narnia writer C.S. Lewis, at the psychoanalyst’s London home, during which they debate the existence of God. The film also explores Freud’s unique relationship with his daughter Anna (Liv Lisa Fries) and Lewis’ unconventional relationship with his best friend’s mother. The stellar cast also has Orla Brady, Jeremy Northam and Stephen Campbell Moore who plays Tolkien. The film should arrive to cinemas this Christmas.

It follows a shadowy order of diverse freedom fighters from all walks of life who wage a covert war to protect freedom of speech and civil rights, by using plays

to spread knowledge, bury secrets and empower the masses. It promises to take a deep dramatic dive into the heady melting pot of the 16th Century underground, where freedom fighters literally were writing for their lives, all to help people learn about the ever-changing world they lived in.

   THE GALLOWS POLE

BBC Two has, meanwhile, sent us the first images from their new historical series THE GALLOWS POLE which, based on the book by Benjamin Myers, fictionalises the remarkable true story of the rise of David Hartley and the Cragg Vale Coiners. Set in the moorland hills of 18th Century Yorkshire, the drama follows the enigmatic David Hartley (played by Michael Socha), as he assembles a gang of weavers and land-workers to embark upon a revolutionary criminal enterprise that will capsize the economy and become the biggest fraud in British history. Also starring are Sophie McShera who plays Grace, with Thomas Turgoose as William Hartley, Yusra Warsama as Bethsheba, Anthony Welsh as Abe Oldfield, Samuel Edward-Cook as Isaac Hartley, Joe Sproulle as Joe, and Adam Fogerty as James Broadbent, Nicole Barber-Lane as Susie, Fine Time Fontayne as Joseph Broadbent, with Ralph Ineson as The Clothier. The three part series will come to BBC Two and iPlayer May 31st.

  A HAUNTING IN VENICE 

AGATHA CHRISTIE FILM TEASER

Kenneth Branagh has released the first teaser for his new Agatha Christie movie adaptation A HAUNTING IN VENICE which arrives to cinemas this September starring Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Kelly Reilly, Kyle Allen. Set in a post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the film follows another mystery featuring the celebrated sleuth Poirot as he reluctantly attends a séance at a haunted palazzo. After one of the guests is murdered, the former detective must once again find out who did it. The movie looks more like a cheap horror than a Christie movie to me, but you can check it out yourself, his first two adaptations were atrocious.

DOCUDRAMA AT NETFLIX

It has not been confirmed yet officially by Netflix itself, but rumour has it that they have a 100 men strong team currently over in Morocco, actually since last summer, shooting a new hybrid docudrama on ALEXANDER THE GREAT which will feature both scripted and unscripted elements. Tony Mitchell is the show runner for Tailfeather Productions and Lion TV.

The biopic is already shooting in Hungary!
