A trailer has been released for a very weird period set action thriller TORNADO which will be out soon set in the rugged landscape of 1790’s Britain. Tornado (Kōki) finds herself caught in a perilous situation when she and her father’s travelling puppet show crosses paths with a ruthless criminal gang led by Sugarman (Tim Roth) and his ambitious son Little Sugar (Jack Lowden). In an attempt to create a new life, Tornado seizes the opportunity to steal the gold from the gang’s most recent heist; what follows is a thrilling tale of adrenaline-fueled action as Tornado fights to escape a violent demise. Published in 1937, three years after Orient Express as one of Christie's most popular novels, it also features rich socialites and their help in the story which sees the detective on a vacation in Egypt where he becoms involved in a love triangle gone murderously bad!

QUEEN ELIZABETH OF YORK
Is played by Jodie Comer. Daughter of the late King Edward IV and The White Queen herself, gets her life transformed when she gets married to Henry VII the new king thanks to the plots of her mother.She is kind, warm and publicly loyal to her husband but privately she hates him and plots against him. Their hatred could not only destroy them but England as well.

HENRY VII KING OF ENGLAND

Is played by Jacob Collins Levy. After living in exile for most of his youth in France, he returned to England to regain the crown from the Yorkists. He is mistrustful of women, has a strict and obsessive mother and a new wife he does not love. He finds himself torn between the two women who use him as their battleground. They both want to win his favour.

LADY MARGARET BEAUFORT
The queen mother is played by Michelle Fairley. She has sacrificed her whole life to get her son to the throne but now he is sitting on it she realizes she barely knows him. Desperate to get closer to him she puts herself in the role of his advisor.

DOWAGER QUEEN ELIZABETH

The new queen's mother is played by Essie Davis. She will do whatever it takes to ensure her children survive the war between the Yorks and Lancasters. It was through her betrayal of her late husband's brother, King Richard III, that the Lancaster family retook control over the English crown — with the condition that her daughter Elizabeth be made Queen consort.

JASPER TUDOR
The King's uncle is played by Vincent Regan. He is his right hand, his general and brilliant battle commander, utterly loyal to his nephew. He has always been secretly in love with his mother Lady Margaret.

MARGARET PLANTAGENET

Is the queen's cousin played by Rebecca Benson. She is shy and wants to be invisible, but her brother is a York heir and they are both in danger in this Tudor world. She is the queen's close friend as well.

PRINCE RICHARD OF YORK
Played by Patrick Gibson is 'a boy' who appears at court claiming he is Queen Elizabeth's long lost brother Prince Richard of York. He has a very strong claim to the throne and a support among the Yorkists.

PRINCESS CECILY OF YOURK

Elizabeth's younger sister is played by Suki Waterhouse. She always feels she is in a shadow and wants to marry the king herself. Battling for survival and better position she may become a turncoat!

THE DUCHESS OF BURGUNDY
Is played by Joanne Whalley! Aunt to the queen, sister of her dead father and uncle, whom she lost in the War together with her father and husband. She wants peace but the Tudors have taken all she's ever got. She rules her own very fashionable and light court.

Tons of costume drama delight today, my spylings, as we have first photos and teasers for upcoming new period set TV shows! A few weeks ago I showed you the first teaser for THE WHITE PRINCESS series, a sequel to The White Queen but this time produced only by Starz without a help from BBC, and today you can feast your eyes on the lavish new cast photo shoot photos from the eight episode saga which will start its rule this April! As the photos show it will obviously have much better costumes than the first season which was largely criticised for historical inaccuracies and lack of any splendour.

YORKS VS TUDORS  
The story begins in the aftermath of the 1485 battle of Bosworth, the final conflict in England's War of the Roses, where Henry Tudor (Jacob Collins Levy) unexpectedly defeated King Richard III to become King Henry VII. Elizabeth of York (Jodie Comer), the niece and former lover of Richard, is forced to marry Henry to unite their warring families, but the two can barely contain their disdain for one another. Other stars in the cast include Essie Davis as Elizabeth's mother, previous queen Elizabeth, Joanne Whalley will be Duchesss of Burgundy her aunt, and sister to dead kings Richard III and Edward IV of England, with Michelle Fairley as Margaret Beaufort, the king's mother and the calculating mastermind behind Henry's ascent to the Throne, and Suki Waterhouse as Cecily of York, jealous younger sister to Princess Elizabeth! Amy Manson is going to portray Lady Catherine Gordon, cousin to King James IV of Scotland and the love interest of “The Boy” who claims to be Prince Richard of York, rightful heir to the throne and Elizabeth’s long lost brother played by Patrick Gibson! Andrew Whipp will play Richard Pole, supporter and former soldier of Henry VII, whose marriage to Elizabeth’s cousin Margaret Plantagenet (Rebecca Benson) reinforces the alliance between the Houses of York and Lancaster under Tudor rule. Kenneth Cranham is Bishop Morton and Vincent Regan is Jasper Tudor.

We've started our festive end of December yesterday with INDIAN SUMMERS and all till the end of the month I will be reminding you or presenting you with all the new historical and epic shows that are launching around the New Years! Today you can check out our final premium spotlight on ITV's new fantasy series BEOWULF: RETURN TO THE SHIELDLANDS which will bring mythical family adventure to the small screens from Sunday, January 3rd, and later on January ... ... 23rd at Esquire Network in USA as well! Filled with our most beloved hunks Kieran Bew and Elliot Cowan from DA VINCI'S DEMONS, Ed Speleers from ERAGON and DOWNTON ABBEY and Joe Sims from BROADCHURCH, the 13 part drama will follow the adventures of the famous mythical hero BEOWULF.

BRITAIN'S DARK AGES  
The series is set in the mythical Shieldlands, a place of spectacle and danger populated by both humans and fantastical creatures. Essentially, a western set in the Dark Ages of Britain’s mythic past, in which BEOWULF who, after spending many years wandering as a mercenary warrior, returns to Herot to pay his respects to the recently deceased Thane, Hrothgar - the man who raised him. But when Herot is attacked by the terrifying monster Grendl, Beowulf has no choice but to hunt it down, winning favour with Herot’s new female Thane, and the wider community, in the process. And so begins a personal journey that sees this mighty and capable man slowly reconnect with the notion of family and home.

THE STARSTUDDED CAST

Kieran Bew plays the lead role of Beowulf, William Hurt will play Hrothgar, Joanne Whalley takes on the role of Rheda. David Harewood will play Scorann, a born warrior, fearsome fighter and man of great honour, Ed Speleers has been cast in the role of Slean, David Ajala will play Rate and the cast will also see warriors or villains played by our favourite Bristol hunk Joe Sims, Elliot Cowan, Lee Boardman, David Bradley and Emmet J Scanlan.

KIERAN BEW IS BEOWULF

Beowulf is an exceptional and intelligent warrior with a reputation as a fearless ‘hero’ that he struggles to live up to and accept. What BEOWULF realises upon arriving to Herot is that what it needs to survive isn’t a Reeve who will ‘go by the book’ but one who’ll do what it takes to ensure its survival. He knows he has to step up for this community to stand a fighting chance.

JOANNE WHALLEY IS REDA

Capable, intelligent, tough when she needs to be and Herot’s Thane, Rheda proves herself as a leader and at times dangerous politician.

ED SPELEERS IS SLEAN

Rheda’s son. Ambitious, intelligent and greedy but never the fighter his father was. Brave and with a burning desire to be a great warrior but lacking the natural talent that BEOWULF is blessed with, his feelings of inadequacy and insecurity have left their mark. He believes the rule of law is vital in Herot’s progression but that doesn’t mean he necessarily follows it himself.

 WILLIAM HURT IS HROTHGAR

The Thane of Herot who adopted Beowulf and aimed to mold the then boy into a leader - a boy who, in Hrothgar’s eyes, was inherently more capable than his own son.

Meanwhile, there are two set photos from JERICHO,  set in the 1870s, and focusing on the shantytown of Jericho, home to a community that will live, thrive and die in the shadow of the viaduct they’ve been brought together to build. I almost forgot to show you the trailer and photos for new historical TV movie THE ARK, but it is still not too late since it airs this Monday evening at BBC One ahead of the Easter celebrations! There was some buzz around the project last week when it was revealed that the Biblical story will not have animals in it because the producers deemed it would make the movie less serious and more childish. Kinda ridiculous, isn't it? I will still watch it because it features one of my dearest of the TV stars, lovely Nico Mirralegro (THE VILLAGE) as Kenan, the youngest son of Noah played by David Threlfall, Joanne Whalley is Noah's wife Emmie, Ashley Walters is God’s Angel, with Emily Bevan, Michael Fox, Andrew Hawley, Hannah John Kamen and Ian Smith also starring
