Just some TV news today, starting with the info coming from SyFy, where they've just signed Georgina Campbell as the female lead in their new KRYPTON sf series. She will play Lyta Zod in Superman prequel series as 'Deadline' reports.

KRYPTON is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, whose House of El was ostracised and shamed, as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos. Campbell’s Lyta Zod is a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod. She serves as a cadet and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El. The pilot for David S. Goyer's series is to be shot over in Serbia.

The only trailer II have for you this boring Saturday is the new one for Jude Law's TV series THE YOUNG POPE which will hit British small screens on Sky Atlantic October 27th and later on at HBO in USA and Canal Plus in France. The first two episodes have just been aired over at Venice Film Festival receiving glowing reviews.

A bunch of new actors have joined the cast of Starz' period set sequel series WHITE PRINCESS lead by Jodie Comer as Princess Elizabeth, who is now joined by Jacob Collins Levy as Henry VII, the paranoid king forced to marry an enemy to secure his throne! Essie Davis is her mother Dowager Queen Elizabeth “The White Queen” indomitable strategist and unwavering supporter of the York cause. Joanne Whalley will be widowed Duchess of Burgundy, her aunt, and sister to dead kings Richard III and Edward IV of England – a sensual, intelligent York woman who presides over her cultured court across the English Channel. As we wrote before, Michelle Fairley is Margaret Beaufort, Henry VII’s mother, the calculating mastermind behind his ascent to the Throne of England who works to fortify his rule, as York rivals continue to plot against them. Suki Waterhouse is Cecily of York, jealous younger sister to Princess Elizabeth, while their cousin Margaret Plantagenet – reluctant member of the York clan because of the precarious political position it puts her and her brother in at the Tudor court – is played by Rebecca Benson! Rhys Connah is Teddy, Caroline Goodall is Duchess Cecily, Kenneth Cranham is Bishop Morton and Vincent Regan is Jasper Tudor.

Not much to report today, so we're turning over to the TV world with the new photos of Jude Law as the pontiff in THE YOUNG POPE TV series that is under production. The new headshots show he looks brilliant with grey hair and in papal robes! In the Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino directed drama he will play the fictional role of the first American Pope in contemporary times who is ultra conservative and thus has problems in Vatican. Diane Keaton is a nun who raised him and helped him become the pope. HBO, Sky and Canal + will air the series later this year.

And ABC has finally released an extended trailer for the midseason epic TV series OF KINGS AND PROPHETS and I'm afraid it looks kinda cheap and lacking in visual image. To start airing March 8th, it will be set 1,000 years before Christ, following the first king of the Israelites, Saul (Ray Winstone), who struggles to unify the 12 Israelite tribes and defend his fledgling nation against savage enemy attacks. The prophet Samuel relays a message from God to King Saul that he must destroy one of Israel’s ancient enemies. But when Saul defies that message, Samuel prophesies that the Lord will tear the kingdom of Israel from him and choose another in his place. In time, Saul comes to realize that his greatest threat will not come from his enemies but from the shepherd, David (Oliver Rix).

A bunch of TV news today, people, starting with casting updates for CW's hit show THE 100! Have you watched it so far? It is set 97 years after a nuclear war destroyed civilization, revolving around 100 juvenile delinquents sent back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet! But once down there they find primitive and advanced humans, both equally violent! The third season, which starts in early 2016, has cast Neil Sandilands (as Titus, an embodiment of the Old Guard, who works to preserve and protect his Grounder civilization),  BLACK SAILS star Zach McGowan (as Roan, a rogue Grounder warrior who will stop at nothing to get what he wants), and Michael Beach (as Pike, a tough and charismatic member of the Ark with a staunch moral code).

ED SHEERAN JOINS

Well some like his music, some think it's a suffocatingly mediocre crap, but Ed Sheeran sure does have his eye on acting business and movies. First he wrote the main song for one of THE HOBBIT movies, then earlier this year he had a singing/ acting stint in NBC's UNDATEABLE sitcom and now he will have a recurring role in FX's new epic series THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER which will see Lee Jones playing a battle weary mediaeval knight returning to the ways of violence in the midst of Welsh rebellion. As 'Hollywood Reporter' writes, Ed Sheeran will play a power hungry protege of a corrupt church official named Sir Corma!

Meanwhile, Diane Keaton will play a nun who lives in Vatican and who has raised the first American pope played by Jude Law in new TV series THE YOUNG POPE and who still has power over him!  The HBO, Sky and Canal + series tells describes the beginning of the Pontificate of Pius XIII, a man of great power who’s stubbornly resistant to the Vatican courtiers, unconcerned with the implications for his authority.

 'THE YOUNG POPE'!

It seems that fictional realities are trendy these days on TV, so after the success of E!'s THE ROYALS, which follows a fictional British royal family, now we are getting a fictional pope too! I've already mentioned earlier this year that Jude Law is in negotiations to take the lead role in THE YOUNG POPE eight episode TV series, but now it has been officially confirmed! In the Paolo Sorrentino's series he will be fictional pope Lenny Belardo, the first Italian American pope in history. He is a conservative American pontiff, recruited for the role by a Vatican which has become fed up with liberal Popes. But he is full of compassion for the weak and the poor. Sky, Canal+ and HBO are producing.

'CONTAINMENT' NEW TV SHOW

Another new series coming to CW this Autumn will be CONTAINMENT (previously much better known as CORDON)!  When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure.

Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan (David Gyasi), whose job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana (Christina Moses), and his best friend and fellow officer Jake (Chris Wood), are trapped within the cordoned area. Also quarantined in viral ground zero is 17 year-old Teresa, who is eight months pregnant and now separated from her boyfriend on the other side; Katie Frank (Kristen Gutoskie), an elementary school teacher now placed on lockdown with her entire class, and CDC researcher Dr. Victor Cannerts (George Young), the doctor who initially made the controversial call to quarantine the area and is now racing to find a cure for the virus.  Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them.
