 'THE YOUNG POPE'!

It seems that fictional realities are trendy these days on TV, so after the success of E!'s THE ROYALS, which follows a fictional British royal family, now we are getting a fictional pope too! I've already mentioned earlier this year that Jude Law is in negotiations to take the lead role in THE YOUNG POPE eight episode TV series, but now it has been officially confirmed! In the Paolo Sorrentino's series he will be fictional pope Lenny Belardo, the first Italian American pope in history. He is a conservative American pontiff, recruited for the role by a Vatican which has become fed up with liberal Popes. But he is full of compassion for the weak and the poor. Sky, Canal+ and HBO are producing.

'CONTAINMENT' NEW TV SHOW

Another new series coming to CW this Autumn will be CONTAINMENT (previously much better known as CORDON)!  When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure.

Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan (David Gyasi), whose job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana (Christina Moses), and his best friend and fellow officer Jake (Chris Wood), are trapped within the cordoned area. Also quarantined in viral ground zero is 17 year-old Teresa, who is eight months pregnant and now separated from her boyfriend on the other side; Katie Frank (Kristen Gutoskie), an elementary school teacher now placed on lockdown with her entire class, and CDC researcher Dr. Victor Cannerts (George Young), the doctor who initially made the controversial call to quarantine the area and is now racing to find a cure for the virus.  Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them.

A bunch of TV casting for you today, starting with ABC sitcom pilot currently titled THE BRAINY BUNCH which has cast gorgeous FRIEND WITH BETTER LIVES star Majandra Delfino and James Roday in the lead roles! Through a combination of genetics and dynamic home schooling, Kip (James Roday), a former Special Forces Operations Sergeant, and Mona Lisa Mitchell (Majandra Delfino), a teacher with PH.D. in literature who believes that everyone on Earth is born with a special gift, find themselves raising seven brilliant kids. Melanie Griffith will play Mona Lisa’s mother who takes them into her Orange County home.

CW'S 'CORDON' SF SERIES CASTS

Another new show we're looking forward too, because we love them apocalyptic, is CW's CORDON which will be set in the aftermath of a deadly epidemic outbreak in Atlanta which is now walled off. George Young has just joined the cast as Dr. Victor Cannerts who gets quarantined in the city hospital within the CORDON and cut off from his resources. Trevor St. John will play Leo, a once celebrated personality in the world of journalism. When he starts to receive intel from a mysterious anonymous source about the particulars of the epidemic and the government’s response, Leo must dust off his investigative instincts in order to uncover the machinations he believes lie at the heart of the outbreak! I've told you before that David Gyasi, Christina Moses, Chris Wood and Kristen Gutoskie will also star!

'THE PERFECT STANLEYS' SITCOM

 BRET HARRISON TO PLAY JENNA ELFMAN'S HUSBAND

Over at Fox they're preparing a pilot for new comedy series THE PERFECT STANLEYS in which Bret Harrison has just secured a role taking it over from Brian Austin Green who has left the project. The sitcom is told from the point of view of Ellen (Jenna Elfman), a working mom who is in constant competition with her perfect, stay-at-home sister-in-law Amy (Liza Lapira). Bret Harrison will play Amy’s husband Jack Stanley who is described as an undisciplined, laid back, rule breaker who pretty much does whatever he wants and doesn’t worry about the consequences (except when it comes to his wife, Amy, who terrifies him).

FINDS LEAD IN ANDREW J. WEST

In today's TV news, people, CW has found cast members for their two new series projects: first, as 'Deadline' reports, Andrew J. West from THE WALKING DEAD will lead their new show DEAD PEOPLE from J.J. Abrams playing Floyd, down-on his-luck, semi alcoholic but roguishly charming cab driver. After a near death experience when he is pronounced dead following an accident but is revived two minutes later, Floyd suddenly has the ability to interact with ghosts, including his late ex-wife who he has never gotten over.

CW'S POST APOCA- LYPTIC SERIES 'CORDON' FINDS ITS CAST
Another of CW's series pilots CORDON, will have David Gyasi, Christina Moses, Chris Wood and Kristen Gutoskie in the lead roles of the series that chronicles the aftermath of a deadly epidemic outbreak in Atlanta. Gyasi and Moses will play the central characters with Gyasi as Atlanta police major Alex “Lex” Carnahan, a resolute, loyal and good hearted police officer who’s responsible for maintaining the cordoned area. Christina Moses plays Jana, Lex’s capable girlfriend, who’s trapped inside the CORDON in an Atlanta office high-rise. Chris Wood is set to play Jake, a former renegade turned cop and Lex’s best friend who finds himself trapped inside the cordon. Kristen Gutoskie plays Katie, a twenty something school teacher and single mother who’s trapped inside the walls of Atlanta Midtown Hospital.
