BEGUINAS EPIC TV SERIES
1ST 16TH CENTURY DRAMA IMAGE
What a treat I have for you today: first image from new Spanish ten episode historical series BEGUINAS starring wildly gorgeous Yon Gonzalez whom
we drooled after in Heirs to the Land epic drama. The upcoming Spanish period drama is set in the 16th century, with the plot inspired by the communities of Beguines. It will stream on Spanish top streamer Atresplayer Premium next year.
Beguinas will be a ten part historical series |
SET IN
1559 Segovia the plot follows Lucía de Avellaneda (Amaia
Aberasturi) as she celebrates her engagement party with the Marquis of
Peñarrosa, but her fiancée receives a letter from a woman claiming to be
her mother requesting her to come to her deathbed. Lucía there comes into contact with the communities of Beguines, leaving her former
life behind, also committing to an impossible romance with crypto-Jew
Telmo Medina (Yon Gonzalez).
This sounds interesting and I have access to Atresplayer, but it would be nice if some bigger streaming platform picks it up.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, but currently they are not doing it with anyone else and it is too small a series, methinks.
DeleteI have noticed that many tv series like to name the person or place as the title. We don't have Atresplayer streamer. We are watching Netflix series Liebes Kind / Dear Child, a thriller based on a novel by German author Romy Hausmann.
ReplyDeleteI think that Atres is available only in Spanish speaking countries, but I might not be correct.
DeleteAtres player is part of Atres Media which is a combination of three Spanish networks. Atres has a channel (Atres series International) that is available all over America. I have it in my cable Spanish package. It will show Atres player series but Ike three years after their debut. Atres Media Player Premium is a streaming platform available all over the world. I just found the app in my Samsung Tv. On the other hand, Netflix has been known, in the past, to have purchased Atres series like Time in Between, In Love and War and The Cook of Castamar, so maybe they will get this one.
DeleteFingers crossed, I'd like to see it. Will have something else Spanish tomorrow as well most probably.
DeleteNow this does sound lovely. I'm not sure if we have Atres as part of our cable or not as we only using streaming these days unless we tune into the news on cable, but I'll have to go look now.
ReplyDeleteMalena above says many providers have it there.
DeleteTheresa, some bad news.
DeleteI don’t know which cable company you subscribe to
Xfinity, Spectrum (time Warner) Optimum and Cox offer Latino plans/packages, some with up to 400 channels from all over the world plus American channels dubbed into Spanish, but you have to pay extra for them. We subscribe to a simple Spectrum package (130 channels) that includes Atres series for a $50 annual fee. I don’t know if they offer English subtitles. In fact, I just checked my TV, and they don’t.
I just learned that in order to watch Atres player in the USA you need a VPN (it’s a geo-restricted service). I guess it’s better to wait for Netflix to buy it.
I looked and we don't have the add on package. I figured my husband didn't buy it since we hardly watch tv these days. Fingers crossed Netflix buys it, but with all of the price hikes, I'm ready to just cancel all of my streaming services and go back to Redbox.
DeleteWe do need a good anarchy, Netflix is methinks raising prices for non/add tier.
DeleteThey all are. Disney is upping my price by $30 a year more now. It’s insane that hikes they present and people get mad but not enough to hit them where it hurts. We just stay on the mouse wheel and throw money their way. Until we demand no more, they will continue to hike up those prices.
DeleteIt is terrible especially now when the House of Mouse is refusing to settle the strike with the actors.
