I'm glad it's a separate story from previous season. I'm glad Lord Fellowes is involved in other projects since I don't find The Gilded Age one of his best.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd say Gilded is certainly better than Belgravia, although I am looking forward to seeing Regbo and Winkleman in this one, they are lovely always.
DeleteI meant that Belgravia was coherent. You knew who was good or bad there. You knew who to root for. I find Gilded’s second season so chaotic and dull. They come up with new subplots every week and bring them to a closure the following. No time to engage. New characters are nonentities. The only plot where they show some effort is Peggy’s. It’s as some critic said as if all the Bertha-Agnes-Astor, etc. storyline was to show how idle, frivolous, and wicked white rich folks were in contrast with hard-working suffering Black Peggy. Honest, Gattocito, what is it that we still like about TGA? I care only for Oscar and find all (White) characters either boring or repellent. If I were to pick a friend in there, I would only go for Aurora Fane.
DeleteHow is Peggy hard working, she writes an article or two a month and writes letters for Agnes and gets money from papa. The hard working ones are the downstairs folk.
DeleteI watch Gilded for Bertha solely, but I know you don't like her. We should see a Duke arriving in episode four methinks. It is our tentpole series in the genre as bad as it is we have nothing else. We love to trash it every week but we also watch it regularly. It is madness.
I answered you in my blog
DeleteI haven’t broke down and subscribed to MGM so this hasn’t really been on my radar. I’m sure it’s a decent watch, but probably not something I’ll go out of my way for.
ReplyDeleteThe first season was terrible but I will still watch this new season.
