NEW HISTORICAL MELODRAMA
Straight from Russia we have the first images from the sets of their new historical TV melodrama PRINCESS OF MERCY (Княжна милосердия) which is currently shooting for a 2024 release with our gorgeous Denis 
Nurulin in the lead role joined by Sofia Priss, Maria Poroshina, Alexander Baluev, Dmitry Ulyanov, as well as Turkish actors Aysun Güven, Edip Zeydan and Tolga Mendi. The series will air on Russian national broadcaster.

THE SERIES IS SET IN 1878
At the end of the Russian-Turkish War, Prince Alexei Raevsky (Denis
Nurulin), who was fighting on the Balkan front with the rank of major,
goes
missing. His young wife, Princess Sophia (Sofia Priss), does not
believe in the death of the prince. She takes an accelerated nursing
course and goes to 
the front to find him. Having overcome many trials,
Sophia rescues her husband from Turkish captivity and returns to Russia
with him, but Raevsky’s 
enemies accuse him of betraying his homeland.
Only Sophia can save the prince from hard labor. To do this, she will
again, surrounded by true friends, have to go on a trip to the East.

I love stories of wives rescuing husbands.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if part of the film will be set in Serbia as well. Throughout history, especially during our wars with Turkey and Bulgaria, Russian officers often came to fight for us, some would even settle here. In last two years we are experiencing a huge migration of them into Serbia as they are running from war this time and buying houses here even transferring their business to our country. We have Russians opening cafes and bakeries in my downtown for example. The bad thing is that this has raised the prices of houses and monthly flat fees.
DeleteNothing beats the love a woman has for her man. As much as we love having them protect us, we’d roll up our sleeves and fight to the death for them as well.

DeleteWell, we have some true stories of wifely devotion. Maria Volkonskaya, when her young husband was exiled to Siberia after taking part in the Decembrist Revolt, followed her husband to the steppes to look after him. Emilie de La Valette, when her husband who had been Napoleon's minister was condemned to death whisked him off prison by exchanging clothing. He left, she remained in jail for a year.
DeleteYes, most of the families would move to Siberia with their imprisoned papas, that is often covered in Russian novels, a lot of kids were born over in Siberian gulags while their dads were there.
DeleteIdk if I’d agree fully with that. I don’t know too many women personally that wouldn’t go to the ends of the earth for her parter. Sure, there are some bad seeds in relationships, but like to believe that the majority of committed people would try to move mountains for the one they love.
