POWERFUL TRAILER FOR "DETACHMENT" WITH ADRIEN BRODY, CHRISTINA HENDRICKS, JAMES CAAN. MARK RUFFALO & SCARLETT JOHANSSON IN "CAN A SONG SAVE YOUR LIFE"! SHARON STONE IN A SINFUL "ATTACHMENT"

I'm not sure why's Mark Ruffalo suddenly popular, but he definitely is one of the latest examples of the trend of forgotten actors suddenly getting into spotlight for no reason. Beside starring as Hulk in MARVEL'S THE
AVENGERS this summer, he's just accepted a role in CAN A SONG SAVE YOUR LIFE in which Scarlett Johansson plays a girl who, seduced by dreams of making it in the big city, moves with her boyfriend to New York to pursue their passion for music. She's heartbroken when he dumps her for the fame and fortune of a big solo contract, leaving her all on her own. Her world takes a turn for the better when a down-on-his-luck record producer (Ruffalo) stumbles upon her singing in a local bar and is immediately captivated by her raw talent and inspiring authenticity - they may be each other's last chance to turn their lives around. Somewhere between friendship and their love of music, the two strangers strike a chord that captures the hearts of everyone around them, proving that every great story has its own soundtrack.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Also one of the forgotten stars, Sharon Stone, has a new project. According to "The Hollywood Reporter" she will take the lead role in ATTACHMENT in which the story centres around a married teacher,
who has a one-night stand with a student. Her infidelity comes back to haunt her when the young man starts dating the teacher's daughter, and stalks the whole family. The film will be directed by Tony Kaye. Sharon Stone also has another interesting role in  GODS BEHAVING BADLY, which should come out some time this year. She plays Aphrodite in this interesting mix of drama and comedy in which the story follows Greek gods who, living in a modern-day New York building, intervene in the lives of a young couple. Beside Sharon, the cast includes Christopher Walken as Zeus, John Turturro as Hades, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Edie Falco as Artemis, Rosie Perez as Persephone, and Alicia Silverstone in the leading role of the woman who lives next to these gods.

Speaking of director Tony Kaye, he has already finished a film with an opposite title DETACHMENT a drama in which the story revolves around the lives of several teachers during a three week span of time.
It seems Tony Kaye is doing a series of movies which follow school staff. DETACHMENT has premiered at Sundance Film Festival and should open later this year. The movie has quite an interesting cast which includes Adrien Brody, James Caan, gorgeous Christina Hendricks from MAD MEN, Lucy Liu, Marcia Gay Harden, Bryan Cranston and Gwyneth Paltrow's mom Blythe Danner. Check out the interesting trailer, which reminds me how teachers are left to educate and raise today's kids all alone, a battle which, in the crazy modern alienated society, is a fight fit more for those who have military training.

  1. I'm undecided about Detachment.
However CAN A SONG SAVE YOUR LIFE sounds great.

  4. LOL, Dezz, first I thought you were referring to Attachment with your comment, not Detachment. Glad I double checked! And I'm trying to keep us all slim with only a triple chocolate not quadruple chocolate mousse :)

  6. It's always interesting when stars we haven't seen in a while come back and not just in one movie but several.

  7. I'm beginning to notice female teachers who have sex with male students get treated much more sympathetically in cinema than the reverse

    1. not just in cinema, but in reality too, a male teacher having sex with a student would get 10 years in prison at least, while a female teacher would probably even get praise for teaching some sex to her student.

  8. Detachment looks like a good one, sad that it's so very true this day in age too and yeah Mark Ruffalo, really? Only thing I ever really liked him in was Due South and thankfully he was only in one episode..lol

    1. ahahhha... DUE SOUTH. I remember that one, it was the only show they were able to air at our TV when we had international embargo upon us, that and famous TROPICAL HEAT LOL :) We didn't have what to eat thanks to US embargo, didn't have petrol, bread, oil, sugar... but we had DUE SOUTH... brings up bad memories :)

    2. Well that last season brings up bad memories for me. But I can see how it would bring up bad memories for you, no sugar geez.

    3. sugar was the least of our problems, imagine not having oxygene for babies in the hospitals, not having electricity more often than not (that means no fridge, no hot water, no freezers for keeping food, no TV... no heating)... it was total hell, both those embargo years at the beginning of the 90s and the infamous NATO bombing for three months in 99.

  9. Wow, Sharon Stone is in her 50s right, but she still looks pretty darn good! As for Scar-Jo, I really don't care for her and that plot sounds so cliched and predictable.

  10. Brody is a fine actor and one I enjoy watching work. And having James Caan in the cast makes things even better. And I know you only mentioned it, but The Avengers!!!!

    1. Brody is quite a nice one, isn't he? One of those with talent who go unnoticed by Hollywood. He really should get more Oscar nods! I've seen him once in person, when he and Rachel Weisz were shooting BROTHERS BLOOM in my City Hall :)

  11. Detachment looks good, although it does remind me of HALF NELSON quite a bit.... But having Hendricks in it sells it for me!!

    1. Sorry, Damien, Mondays and Tuesdays are always weak when it comes to film news since there is no new info during the weekend so I have to come up with whatever I can find.

  13. Detachment looks good, but it also looks too much like Coach Carter, Dangerous Minds and a bunch of other high school films. It would be different if they had a female teacher have sex with a student, then actually get into trouble for it. But, unfortunately, people, guys especially, think it's a manly right of passage for a teen boy to nail his teacher. Older woman and all that. Instead they take the female teacher temptress and turn it into horror as in Sharon Stone's project, Attachment.

    1. agreed. 100%.
it's still statutory rape when the offender is a woman.
      blech.

    2. @Melsy
well, you have to bear in mind one thing you ladies always forget because you try to view males from the same mental perspective you view yourselves :) - man are foremost sexual creatures because they were created to make babies, thus they think of sex all the time and are naturally obsessed with nailing almost anyone, older or younger it usually doesn't matter. But what the real problem is - is when a female teacher has sex with a young student or pupil. That is not primal instinct like with men but something much more mental and psychological. And still such women would get a few years in jail tops, if that, while a man would be sentenced for at least ten years and his life would be destroyed forever. Both deserve the punishement, but there are double standards.
