Are you excited? Just two weeks are separating us from the world premiere of this year's greenest blockbuster GREEN LANTERN
which hits cinemas on June 17th! Directed by Martin Campbell (THE LEGEND OF ZORRO, CASINO ROYALE) the lavish film with the most advanced CGI, features dashing Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern, stunning Blake Lively as his love interest Carol Ferris, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, Tim Robbins, Angela Basset ... and the voices of Geoffrey Rush and Michael Clarke Duncan.
It is estimated that the budget for the shooting of GREEN LANTERN was around $150 million! For Geoffrey Rush, who is lending his voice to a birdlike alien Tomar Re, this is actually a third time of giving voice to birds (he did it in FINDING NEMO as a Pelican, and in LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS as a Ga'Hoole owl)! Blake Lively's Carol Ferris could turn into the Star Sapphire super villain and a queen of female warriors in a possible sequel. Ryan Reynolds doesn't wear a real costume but a CG one made thanks to a motion capture suit. Ryan's rivals who had competed for the lead role include: Sam Worthington, Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Chris Pine.

The story is set in a universe as vast as it is mysterious, where a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of
peace and justice, they are called the GREEN LANTERN Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each GREEN LANTERN wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the GREEN LANTERNs have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the
ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol
Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest GREEN LANTERN of all.

  1. This might actually be good. The trailers for the Green Lantern look promising, and I think the CG will be extraordinary.

  2. yep, even if the story ends up being bad, the film will offer visual splendor and CG magnificence :)

  3. The Green Lantern story doesn't have me screaming excitement, but the trailers do look mighty cool.

  4. Yep, getting excited for Green Lantern. Mostly because of the special effects.

  5. Visually stunning is how it will look, but will the story have us wanting more?! Still can't looks amazing!

  6. I am dying, dying to see this. I love Green Lantern and the trailers have all been spectacular. Blake is lovely and Ryan is hot, hot!

  7. Hope the story matches the special fx.

  8. ps. love the picture of Peter O'Toole on the sidebar. He looks like he's totally amazed that he's still alive.

  9. @Terry
glad you like it, Terry :)

yep, you're more of a BATMAN guy and I'm GREEN LANTERN :)

special effects are something really special in this one!

  10. @Debra
    me too, Debs!

I'm not expecting a great story in this one, just a visual splendor so I can't get disappointed :)

aren't Blake and Ryan just super hot in this one? I love Blake going brunette for the role :)

  11. @Michael
I swear you almost killed me with that comment on Peter :) I laughed like crazy. I loved that picture because it shows his wonderful self-irony and the ability to take things with a humor even at his age. He is such a flamboyant and marvelous artist and person.
And after the senior actors, this Tuesday I'm starting the senior actresses poll, hope you'll like that one. It will have 70 plus ladies :)

  12. Not a film I'd normally go see, but I might make an exception.

It'll be a busy couple of weeks: I still need to see Pirates 4, Thor, X-Men:First Class, Water for Elephants and Kung-Fu Panda 2. :-)

  13. yep, lots of film to see, but summer is the time to watch movies :)

  14. I know! She looks stunning as a brunette. And yes, they are super hot together. Best looking superhero couple for sure.

  15. I saw this trailer every time I went to the cinema and my reaction is the same every time... meh. I think this is one superhero flick I'll be skipping this year.

  16. @Melsy
    indeed :)

it's the opposite with me :) It's the only superhero film I wanna watch this year, since I had troubles watching THOR due to that horrid lead actress, XMEN is just boring to me, and I might watch CAPTAIN AMERICA, but solely for Chris Evans although the film doesn't interest me and it also has a horrid lead actress.

  17. This looks like a really beautiful film. He is probably the best actor in the world who is "in his prime" shame and cool, you just know how pointless it is when you're a real fighter. Besides, it's his movie. Entertainment Bay
