After much drama around the project which was rejected by all big TV stations, David E. Kelley's pilot for WONDER WOMAN has been picked up by NBC! NBC has first rejected the pilot because the
price for licensing rights to bring the famous super hero to TV was very high. But now it seems we shall see the pilot in September 2011. The new WONDER WOMAN will apparently be more serious, and less tacky but Wonder Woman will still have her truth lasso, her bullet-deflecting cuffs, and her invisible plane.
According to "MovieWeb" Anthony Hopkins could play legendary director Alfred Hitchcock in a biopic which will center on famous filmmaker's efforts in trying to make his horror classic
PSYCHO, which no studio wanted to make. This lead to Hitchcock financing the movie himself. The story will also focus on the director's relationship with his wife.
Sf film LOOPER, which I mentioned a few times before is getting more and more actors. Jeff Daniels and Piper Perabo have just joined the cast which already includes Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Joseph Gordon Levitt ... As you remember the sf action will follow assassins who use time travel to send the bodies of their victims back to the past.
According to "Playlist" Nicole Kidman is planning a remake of the 1973 dramedy LOVE AND PAIN AND THE WHOLE DAMN THING. If you remember, directed by Alan J. Pakula, the original movie centered on two tourists who fall in love in Spain, despite their reservations about long-term possibilities. Kidman will play the lead role and she will produce the film through her film company which scored success last year with her critically acclaimed drama RABBIT HOLE.
QUESTION OF THE DAY have you noticed that Jennifer Lopez still doesn't have a single vote in our current poll? I would actually feel sorry for her if she wasn't a lady who wears poor animal carcasses on her and calls it fashion!
Glad someone picked up Wonder Woman, And don't feel sorry for J-Lo - she has American Idol now.
ReplyDeleteI have never been into superheros, but Wonder Woman was my thing back in the day....Will definitely watch this.
ReplyDeleteJ-Lo...yuck!
Well, I think it's also a matter of "I'm not releasing any album for the moment" or "people are not that interesting in my life nowadays", isn't it? But of all the women you picked, she is the one I'm the least interested in, so... And she's got many nice rivals, like Reese Witherspoon <3, Jennifer Aniston and Amy Adams ^^
ReplyDeleteWonder Woman. Awesome. Unless she doesn't wear the Lynda Carter style bikini. I'm just shallow enough to say that would lower my interest a notch. As for Lopez, has she ever done a good romantic comedy?
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!! Wonder Woman is back. I'm doing my happy, happy, joy, joy dance. :)
ReplyDeleteLoopers sounds cool and I think Nicole will do an interesting remake of the original, which oddly enough, I just watched the other day on the classic film channel here.
I'm surprised CW passed on Wonder Woman, they'll need something to replace Smallville..
ReplyDeleteAnthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock? That should be interesting.

Thoughts in Progress
Anthony Hopkins woohoo! This seems good!
ReplyDeletePiper Perabo!
ReplyDelete@Alex
ReplyDeletewell, the pilot at least, they might not get the whole show if the pilot is bad :(
@Avalon
yes, Wonder Woman is kinda special :)
@Lucinda
J.Lo actually has a new single waiting to be released really soon, you can hear it over at YouTube, it's with Pitbull if I remember correctly ... some dance tune ... quite a hit in the clubs these days
@Maurice
ReplyDeleteI kinda afraid WW won't have a sexy costume in the show :( And J.Lo did have some nice romantic movies - MAIN IN MANHATTAN, ANGEL EYES, SHALL WE DANCE, THE WEDDING PLANNER, THE BACK UP PLAN ... not all great movies but nice romcoms.
@Melissa
oh, you did? How was the original?
@Jaccsy
they have RAVEN and some other show I forgot right now, and one of the channels has HULK.
@Masy
ReplyDeleteindeed it should
@Doo
glad you like it!
@Vapor
I can see you're a fan :)
The original was very good. Maggie Smith and Tim Bottoms were so good together. You should see it. :)
ReplyDeleteDez, you always have the coolest photos. Nice work!
ReplyDeletei'm glad they're making wonder woman a television series instead of a movie. women are too complicated to complete their characterization in 2 hours :)

@Leigh

This is going to be awesome when it comes out.
ReplyDeleteEmily Blunt is getting a lot of great roles. Hey, where was Jon K from The Office? Is he working on a movie? Is he moving on to bigger and better now that the boss is leaving?
ReplyDeleteYay for Wonder Woman! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I see someone finally voted for JLo!
@Stock
ReplyDeleteit is!
@Clarissa
Jon Who? :) I don't watch THE OFFICE :)
@Kelly
are you auditioning for WW? :)
@Dezmond: Well ok, in france we don't hear about her AT ALL. Maybe people just admit that all of the other actresses are just better than her haha.
ReplyDeleteBut see, 5 people voted for her now! :)
Lucinda
Looper sounds really interesting, though I can't remember Jeff "Mutt Cutts" Daniels doing anything serious. Still, loving the idea!
ReplyDeletehe he, it's true, Jamies, that Daniels, never did have some great roles :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see another DC hero will get a chance on TV. I don't know who will play Wonder Woman, or how will the show fare in terms of success, but to me it probably won't be any less interesting then some other so-called superhero/fantasy TV dramas.
ReplyDeleteSo, no downside so far. :)
