GHOSTBUSTERS 3 TO START SHOOTING NEXT SUMMER

It seems that popular comedy from the 80's "Ghostbusters" will get its third part next year. Summer 2010 is the time when the work on the new installment will start. Here's what Harold Ramis, one of the actors from the original movie has said about it recently: "Something's going to happen. Dan Aykroyd did write a spec Ghostbusters 3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We'll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... Ghostbusters 3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 ... Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans."
So it seems that some of the original cast members might be involved in the remake, but the focus will be on a new cast of Ghostbusters. I must say I never was a fan of this franchise, but I did like its popular and catchy music theme.

  1. I was a fan of the first movie, but not so much the second. It will be interesting to see what is done with the third.

I don't see a director listed yet at IMDB. Ivan Reitman (originally from Slovakia, then Canada) is a great director and his son, Jason, seems to be following with success as a director.

  2. I loved Ivan Reitman as a kid, since he was making all those nice family movies and comedies back in the late 80's.

  3. I like the first movie too, and not the second. You're right, the music was good. I guess what was once old is new again.

  4. Ghostbusters 3 has the potential to be awesome or a complete disaster. Going in a new direction makes sense, and a long as the new cast is likable and cast right, I don’t see why this third would fail or why the franchise can’t carry on even further with a fourth film.

  5. I loved the first one when it came out (I was eleven), and though I didn't catch up with the second until a few years ago, I found that I did enjoy it a lot more than I was expecting. (Though it's basically a remake rather than a sequel.)
So I actually can't wait for this; it will be so weird seeing Bill Murray back in that uniform again...
Only the prospect of a fifth Jaws movie could get me more excited!
