DAVID FINCHER TO DIRECT ANGELINA JOLIE'S "CLEOPATRA"? ROBERT PATTINSON, JAMES MCAVOY, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, MICHAEL FASSBENDER, CHRIS PINE, JOAQUIN PHOENIX COULD GET A ROLE IN SF EPIC "AKIRA"

Now, HOLLYWOOD SPY has already informed you that Columbia Pictures is preparing a remake of famous sf blockbuster from the 90's TOTAL RECALL and you also know that Colin Farrell will play the Arnold Schwarzeneger 's role from the original film. According to latest buzz the role of Lori, the naughty wife and a secret spy which Sharon Stone played in the original film, could go to Kate Bosworth or Diane Kruger. The second female role of Melina, the woman who helps the main hero, could go to Eva Mendes or Eva Green or even Jessica Biel. The film is being directed by Len Wiseman.

SHORT HEADLINES *Ian McShane, who amazed us in THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH last year, has joined Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy and Ewan McGregor in JACK THE GIANT KILLER as King Brahnwell, the father of the princess that Nicholas Hoult as Jack tries to save from the giant. *Even though James Cameron has left the helm of CLEOPATRA with Angelina Jolie, according to latest rumors, Sony now wants David Fincher to direct the epic on famous Egyptian queen. *Elizabeth Perkins has joined Kelsey Grammer and Michael Chiklis in a new CBS sitcom called VINCE UNCENSORED  which will follow a man who decides to take a more honest approach to life after a life-altering experience.
It seems AKIRA, the film adaptation of the famous anime is the most wanted project these days when it comes to casting. The anime was set in a neon-lit futuristic post nuclear war Tokyo in 2019 where a teen biker gang member is subjected to a government experiment which unleashes his latent powers. The gang leader must find a way to stop the ensuing swathe of destruction. In the film, the story will be set in Manhattan. According to "MovieWeb" Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and James McAvoy are all being considered for the role of Tetsuo while the list of actors who could take the role of Kaneda includes Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix.

  3. Dezzy - What no pic of Robert Pattinson? LOL How coume? xoxo

  4. Why are they making a remake? First Gatsby then Total Recall. Perhaps they've finally run out of ideas and they're making all the old movies again.

  5. A remake of Total Recall could interesting or it could be very bad. Can't say I'm impressed with the choices of Bosworth and Krueger. Fortunately it's a rather tiny part if I remember right.

    It's an anime film, aren't there any Asian actors to fill the roles? I mean I like Fassbender and Garfield, too, but come on.

  6. i don't know the director, but Angelina Jolie playing Cleopatra had me eager to watch the movie! somehow, both of the character seemed distant n proud, i would definitely be one of the first to catch it! :)

  7. Sounds like some great casting possiblities for Akira - can't wait to see who ends up with the roles!

  8. Always glad to see more of Diane Kruger. Eva Green in a Total Recall remake... I don't see that happening, doesn't fit into to her typical role choices.

  9. Oooh, seeing Fassbender and Garfield together in that pic is awesome! I hope both of them would be in a movie together one day :) I'm not into anime so I guess I'm kinda indifferent about that project.

  10. I don't know - still a big fan of the original Akira...

  11. I can't wait to learn more about Akira. That sounds pretty awesome and it has some interesting options for actors. Love that David Fincher may direct Cleopatra. That alone peaks my interest for the film. Jack the Giant Killer has a brilliant cast, seriously. Every single one of those actors are amazing!

    By the way, super jealous of Scarlett Johansson if she is dating Sean Penn!! : )

  12. Fincher's got a lot on his plate right now already and I'm not sure he's the right one for the cleopatra project.

  13. Fincher's got a good set of movies under his belt, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with Cleopatra. I'm guessing it won't be a historical epic though :P

    there was not enough space, don't you see I had to stick other actors together in pics? And I had to sacrifice some of them, so my least favourites were the first to go :)))

    @Clarissa
    what can I tell you, sister, it's the age of remakes and reboots, I hope no one will remake me :)

    @Melsy
    it is a small role, but if you remember Sharon Stone had managed to steal the whole show with it in the original film :)
    It is based on anime, but it will be a live action film set in USA :)

  15. @Levian
    yes, that's true, Angelina has that pride and vanity that Cleopatra had :)

    @Susan
    HOLLYWOOD SPY will inform you as soon as it happens :)

    @Answer
    yes, I was also kinda surprised to see her name in the game too, doesn't seem like her kind of film, nor does she fit in it with her appearance.

  16. @Flixy
    glad you like my pics, Flixy, it was kinda a new experiment, gluing pics together since I had so many names in the latest news :) This will be set in USA, so it will not be like anime.

    @Alex
    must admit I've never seen the original

    @Nicole
    I'm also extremely excited about JACK THE GIANT KILLER, love the cast, especially Ewan McGregor :) Don't tell me you're into Sean Penn?? :)

  17. @Jaccsy
    I agree, Jaccsy, he really isn't a director for this film (or any film if you ask me he he he). It being an epic it requires a more visual director like Stephen Sommers or Shekhar Kapur.

    @Jamie
    ah, look who's back :)
    He still didn't get the job, it's just a rumor. And they said it will depict Cleo as a politician not as seductress.

  18. So many remakes!!! There's gotta be some new cool stories to make into movies instead!
    And for some reason I giggled at Justin T's wet tee. Who got to hose him down for that pic?

  19. I absolutely can't wait for the film adaptation of Akira. Though I'm not heavily into animes, it was truly groundbreaking for its time. It could benefit from a technological face lift.

    I don't want to see Pattinson as Tetsuo. All the other casting names are intriguing, esp. for Kanada.

  20. I actually kinda want to see that new Cleopatra. Maybe. It just seems AJ makes such awful films. And maybe it's a sign that James Cameron left AND we lost Liz Taylor all in one day~ <3

  21. Dezzy - I figured that was the reason, which is why I had to give you a hard time. You've got great pics. As usual. =D

    there are new stories, but Hollywood probably doesn't want to pay for them :) It's easier remaking something old, although we've never seen a good remake so far. And when it comes to Justin, well, maybe he got wet when he saw us :)

    @Matty
    glad to see you excited, Matty. I've never seen this particular anime, but I know it has a lot of fans. And most of the mentioned actors are super cool.

  24. @Leigh
    well, it is always nice seeing Cleopatra even if the film is bad, because we all love that exotic setting and old Egypt. Sorry to hear about Liz today. I've never loved her acting, but she had her charm and charisma and was probably the last diva. We shall miss her. And we must not forget her charity work.

    @Shells
    more great pics coming every day!

    @Diana
    glad you liked the news. I'm visiting a bit later ;)

  25. I want to see Pillars of the Earth. Sometimes, they should just let an original be, as to remake it is to only court failure. :D

    Sad about Liz.

  26. What a power post.
    I'm not sure if Pattinson would work in that film though.
    Maybe the film is better off without Cameron, not that I don't like him, but, you know...

    PILLARS were nice, although not overly great, but they did have some great young and older actors mainly Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, Eddie Redmayne, David Oakes, Sam Claflin.

    @Nahno
    he he, glad you liked the post ;)
    Yep, I'm not sure anyone would like to see Patinson in AKIRA or in DAREDEVIL.

  28. @Dezmond - Green has been picking up a larger fan following here lately, I think that's the reason behind her name being thrown into the rumor mill a lot recently. It's a little odd seeing she hasn't been in an big budget film or even a film released in the US since The Golden Compass, and that film was horrible and I believe a box office failure.

  29. Don't know how to react on Fincher directing Cleopatra.

  30. he he, we are all quite shocked, Lesya ;)

  31. I'm interested in Total Recall remake.

    We could wait a while for Cleopatra. Historical films are not on top of producers "to do" lists nowadays.

    I've seen Akira. Not really interested in that film, not even with remake. It may have been a cult film back then, but I've seen/read that type of story many times since 80ies.

  32. Colin is all in remakes these days, beside RECALL he is also doing FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHT with Toni Collette.
    Yes, I don't expect to see CLEOPATRA any time soon. But sometimes should do something on NEFERTITI.

  33. I'm not a huge fan of Ang Jolie, shes good at kick as movies, but pretty one dimentional for me, though I will say she kind of hanged my mind in Changeling....Cleopatra will be a good move for her I think, I can see her playing that well

    ReplyDelete
  34. yep, I'm not her fan either, Dempsey. She is always the same and full of anger.
