Now here's something that sounds promising: according to "Deadline New York" Antonio Banderas has joined Mark Strong, Freida Pinto and Tahar Rahim in BLACK GOLD, a movie set in the 1930s when oil was first being discovered in parts of Arabia. The story will center on rival Arabian tribes and a young ruler who manages to unite these warring kingdoms. The great thing is that the movie will be directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud the sensual French director of ENEMY AT THE GATES, SEVEN YEAR IN TIBET ...
You've probably already heard this Friday that THE HOBBIT has finally been officially greenlit with Peter Jackson at the helm. Now the search for the actors begins: I've already told you that Martin Freeman, from BBC'S SHERLOCK series will take the role of Bilbo Baggins. Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis should return as Gandalf and Gollum. Cate Blanchett might appear again as the Elven queen Galadriel, and according to "The Playlist" Michael Fassbender and David Tennant have also been offered unknown roles in the film.
Lars von Trier is about to begin shooting his post-apocalyptic film MELANCHOLIA which will basically start with the end, with the audience seeing the world being crushed and destroyed at the beginning and then it will not be a film about what happens but how it happens! The film will show people who are trying to deal with the planet’s impending doom. Kirsten Dunst will be a woman who is planning to get married to Alexander Skarsgaard while his father Stellan Skarsgaard will play the best man and John Hurt will play Dunst's father. The film will also star Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kiefer Sutherland.
Be interesting to see how the whole cast of The Hobbits comes together.
ReplyDeletewhat would be even more interesting is seeing whether I'd get the role I truly deserve - the role of the Elven monarch :))
ReplyDeleteThe Hobbit, yay!! I'd vote for you as Elven King. Black Gold looks fascinating!
ReplyDelete~that rebel, Olivia
oh, Olivia, can I hire you as my casting agent? :))
ReplyDeleteBlack Gold sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI still have to give Lord of the Rings another chance and my full attention so I can get into this Hobit phase.
oh, I forgot you still haven't watched LOTR, don't know how is that possible, I mean you have Orly Bloom and Karl Urban in it :))
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with Kirsten Dunst's bra or shirt or whatever it is? Did she spray paint it on?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, cool news. Have a great Sunday, Dez.
CD
he he ... Clarissa I believe the point of that pic was to leave you wondering and guessing :)))
ReplyDeleteglad peter jackson will helm. That is an interesting picture of kirsten. good interesting.
ReplyDeleteHi DEZMOND - How are you friend? So glad The Hobbit is finally a go. And if you want that part Dez, I say, "Go for it!" You'd be fantastic in anything you did. =D
ReplyDelete@Budd
ReplyDeleteglad you find it good interesting :))
@Shells
ah, lazy Sunday, thanks for asking,how was your weekend? :) Can I hire you for my PR agent when I hit fame? :)))
DEZMOND - My weekend's been good. My family and I finished the entire first season of Merlin and have watched a few of the second. We had a Merlin-a-thon. Fantastic! =D
ReplyDeleteAs for your PR agent - Absolutely. It wouldn't be hard at all. ;-D
I'm baaaack! I love your seasonal avatar btw :)
ReplyDeleteKirsten needs to eat soemthing and Antonio should be perfect for the part in Black Gold and I'm a little nervous about the Hobbit. I hope it's done well.
Fassbender AND Blanchett in the same movie, oh be still my heart! That guy's career is getting better and better and I'm happy for him.
ReplyDelete@Avalon, you've got to give LOTR a chance. I convinced my friend to see 'em even though she didn't like fantasy movies, and she ended up loving the whole trilogy. It'd be tough to appreciate The Hobbit without seeing LOTR I think.
She looks like she needs food.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for the Hobbit!! I LOVED the book.
I think The Hobbit will be hugely successful, and I like Martin Freeman too. I loved the Lord Of The Ring movies but never have read the books, am I right in saying The Hobbit is the prequel?
ReplyDeleteAfter two years of waiting and keeping an eye on TORn, I can't believe I missed the news that The Hobbit has been greenlit!! (Yay!!). I wondered why my Richard Armitage for Bard speculation posts have all received so many hits over the weekend ... now I know :). Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteAntonio Banderas goes Arabian sounds like another The 13th Warrior to me.
ReplyDeleteFreeman is dream casting for The Hobbit film though.
@Shells
ReplyDeleteah, MERLIN, that was a magical weekend then :)
@Lynda
glad to see you back where you belong :) We have missed you heaps :) Glad you like the Pumpkin Dezz :)
@Flixy
it's a possibility, but it doesn't mean any of them will appear in THE HOBBIT :(
@Kristin
ah, yes, you're a southern girl, yes? You like natural curves on a woman :)
@Dempsy
ReplyDeleteit will for sure, and yes, THE HOBBIT is the prequel in a way :)
@Mulubinba
ah, RA, I wouldn't be surprised if he really ends up in THE HOBBIT :)
@Jaccsy
no, Jaccsy, this will be a more modern story, not warriors and medieval Bedouins :)
well you know my feelings about Mr. Skarsgaard... mmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteindeed I do, Falen ;)
ReplyDeletehahaha. yes I am southern, and if there weren't people that liked the natural curves on a woman I'd have no friends. LOL. (though between you and me, I wouldn't complain if I had a body that looked like hers ;)
