Back in 2022 I reported that Serbian star Milos Bikovic will lead historical movie THE BIRTH OF AN EMPIRE (Рождение империи) but then exactly a year ago I told you that it will be Aleksandar Gorbatov who will play the lead role of Tzar Peter I at the time after the defeat in the Battle of Narva and before the victory in the Battle of Poltava. And now we have the first images from the film which is supposed to arrive to Russian cinemas sometime in 2026. In addition to Peter I, the film will also feature his courtiers Menshikov, Sheremetyev, Romodanovsky and Foreign Minister Golovin. Menshikov will actually be played by Milos Bikovich, Romodanovsky by Vitaly Khaev, Sheremetyev by Alexey Guskov. The female roles will be played by Yulia Peresild (Anna Mons) and Ksenia Utekhina (the future Catherine I). Andrei Kravchuk is directing.

 WHAT IS THE STORY OF THE FILM?

Returning to his homeland after the Grand Embassy (Russian diplomatic mission to Western Europe from 9 March 1697 to 25 August 1698 led by Peter the Great), Peter the Great stepped into a protracted war with Sweden for the access to the sea. On the way to a great victory, serious trials await him: disappointment, deception and betrayal - only by overcoming all of those will Peter become Emperor, find true love, and Russia will be proclaimed a great Empire.

I have first images from two new shows for you today, starting with NBC's GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY which will follow four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, who get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom. Ben Rappaport is Brett, cool in a threadbare kind of way, he put his own dreams of starting a car restoration business on hold so his wife (now ex-wife) could finish law school. Melissa Fumero is Birdie. Entitled, rich, swathed in Chanel, a smoker, a drinker, self-destructive at times, toxic at others, but not without real pain beneath her facade. Aja Naomi King plays Catherine, an unhappily married mother of two younger children, a realtor who works off some of her loneliness with a very juicy secret. Matthew Davis is Joel, a police officer whom Birdie takes an interest in. Anna Sophia Robb is Alice, your favorite high school English teacher, a dreamer whose best dreams are crashing down on her. Alexander Hodge plays Doug, Alice’s husband.

We also have first image from a new series that is hitting Apple TV + April 11th. YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS has already been ordered for the second season as well with Jon Hamm playing a disgraced hedge fund manager still grappling with his recent divorce, who starts robbing his affluent neighbors in order to keep his family living to the standard to which they've become accustomed. Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Aimee Carrero and Amanda Peet also star.

ABC has issued an extended trailer for January 8th new Tim Allen's multicamera sitcom SHIFTING GEARS which reveals more about why his daughter moves in with his character with her kids and it looks

The series starts January 8th and will stream on Hulu too

like there will be quality heartfelt drama too beside the laughs. To air Wednesday nights, it will see Allen starring as Matt, the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop Parker Customs. When Matt’s estranged daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings), and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.

 

WHO ELSE IS IN THE CAST?

Seann William Scott will play Gabriel, a family friend of Matt and Riley who works in the shop with Matt. Daryl “Chill” Mitchell stars as Stitch, a former Marine” and “a mechanic at the shop, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia, Riley's kids. Also announced as guest stars are Brenda Song, as Caitlyn, a former high school classmate of Riley’s who is now the assistant principal of the school, and Jenna Elfman who has been announced as Eve Drake, a spirited choreographer and owner of the dance studio across from Parker Customs.
