REVEALS TRAILER  WITH MARTON CSOKAS

Swiss Studios, the producers of Davos 1917 and Stella, has prepared  BLACK GOLD, a six episode historical series, from Justin Koch and Matthias Greving, which will be set in 1900 in a small village on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath in North Germany, where the poor farming family Lambert is cheated by the large scale farming family Pape of the oil  deposits discovered under their fields. When the oil rush takes hold of the village and threatens to destroy the farming community forever, the women of  the Lamberts fight for justice and win their independence. This led the hardworking village population being torn between progress, environmental destruction and survival. Gwendoline Christie and Marton Csokas play English prospectors Emma and Tyler Robertson, who come to a quiet village near Lüneburg Heath after oil fields are discovered. Tom Wlaschiha is also in the cast and so are Aaron Hilmer, Harriet Herbig-Matten, Henny Reents and Hans Zimmer, the Oscar winner is scoring the music. It will air on German ARD from December 22nd. BBC and BritBox have released first images for their THE OTHER BENNET SISTER which tells the story of Mary Bennet, played by Ella Bruccoleri, the seemingly unremarkable and overlooked middle sister in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Richard E. Grant and Ruth Jones play her parents, with Indira Varma and Richard Coyle set as Mr and MrsGardiner, Mary’s worldly aunt and uncle. The Gardiners take Mary under their wing as governess to their three children, Marianne (Roisin Bhalla), George (Reggie Absolom), and Rebecca (Jasmine Sharp), introducing her to a new social world that includes Mr Hayward (Donal Finn), Mr Ryder (Laurie Davidson), and Ann Baxter (Varada Sethu). It will have ten half hour episodes.

Channel 4 and Steven Moffat have announced work on new comedy series NUMBER 10 with Rafe Spall playing the prime minister, Katherine Kelly as his Chief of Staff, and Jenna Coleman as her deputy. Laura Haddock and Richard Rankin will also star! There’s a Prime Minister in the attic, a coffee bar in the basement, and a wallpapered labyrinth of romance, crisis and heartbreak in-between. Set in the only terrace house in history with mice and a nuclear deterrent, it’s the only knock-through in the world where a hangover can start a war. The government will be fictional and unspecific, but the problems will be real. We’ll never know which party is in power, because once the whole world hits the fan it barely matters.

Jonathan and Karl Lion journey through the magical realm of Nangijala, where whispered prophecies, terrifying dragons, and a tyrannical emperor force them to become the heroes their bond demands.

Meanwhile, over at Netflix Reese Witherspoon and hit writer Harlan Coben have joined forces to adapt Emily Giffin's best selling book ALL WE EVER WANTED into a Netflix TV series. Jessica Goldberg will be the executive producer and show runner of the series being described as a soapy and scandalous drama that uncovers the secrets and class struggles of a wealthy suburb; where a torrid love affair between a ‘have’ Mom and ‘have-not’ single Dad threatens to expose the sins and lies of all of those around them.

First images have been released from Guy Ritchie's new period set television series YOUNG SHERLOCK with young Hero Fienness Tiffin in the lead role. To air sometime next year on Prime Video, this brand new costume drama adventure follows the origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in a re-imagining of the iconic character’s early days. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man, raw and unfiltered, when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.

ITV and Mammoth Screen have announced last summer the start of shooting of new four part thriller series BETRAYAL with Shaun Evans and Romola Garai set as leads and now we have the very first teaser from it. Starring Evans as John Hughes, the series explores the strain modern intelligence work places on MI5 operatives. Regarded by his colleagues as out of touch with the times, John must navigate a world of secrets and surveillance while also confronting the unravelling of his personal life — exposing the emotional cost of a profession where loyalty is fragile and betrayal can strike from any direction. Garai plays John’s partner, Claire, whose trust in him is strained by the secrecy and demands of his work. The series will air next year.

 I informed you back in April that ITV  has gathered quite an interesting cast for their new high end espionage series SECRET SERVICE with Gemma Arterton and Rafe Spall leading the cast alongside Mark Stanley, Alex Kingston and now we have a first teaser clip from the 2026 new drama. This five part drama follows senior MI6 officer Kate Henderson (Gemma Arterton). On the surface, her life appears ordinary, a civil servant married to Stuart (Rafe Spall) with two teenage children. However, to those who don’t know her well, Kate’s true role is heading the Russia Desk at the Secret Intelligence Service. When her undercover operations reveal alarming evidence that a high-ranking UK politician may be a Russian asset, Kate finds herself in a desperate race to uncover their identity. As a brutal murder thrusts her team into the spotlight, Kate must navigate the dangerous world of espionage while trying to hold her family together and protect her reputation. The series will air sometime next year.

Disney Plus ordered this one for two seasons originally so they are now ready to give us the second season from January 9th. A THOUSAND BLOWS will stream on Hulu in USA like the last time with Malachi Kirby, Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham returning to the 1880s London! Ned Dennehy and Catherine McCormack join the cast as Bull Jeremy and Sophie Lyons, with Daniel Mays and Jason Tobin returning from the first season. Hallmark has launched their new festive series TWELVE DATES TILL CHRISTMAS last night, December 5th with our dearest Julian Morris in the cast next to acting legends Jane Seymour and Nathaniel Parker and dashing Toby Sandeman with Mae Withman in the lead role.

 

  WHAT'S THE STORY?

Talented Saville Row textile pattern designer Kate (Whitman) lives in the quaint village of Blexford, England, next door to her father Mac (Parker), who is long divorced from Kate’s mother Delilah (Mary McDonnell), a globe trotting American always on an adventure. When not at work, Kate looks after Mac, who’s recovering from a motorbike accident and is inclined to spend his days sitting in his recliner. Unbeknownst to Kate, her best friend Laura (Lucy Eaton) signs her up for The 12 Dates of Christmas – a holiday themed matchmaking program in the days leading up to the holiday featuring carefully curated, yuletide dating experiences, in an attempt to get Kate out of her rut. Lovingly coerced by Laura and longtime best friend Callum (Morris), a reluctant Kate ultimately gets into the spirit of the program and is caught off guard when she meets someone (Sandeman) who reinvigorates her zest for life. But when Delilah unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep – literally – Kate and Mac’s life and holiday season get upended.
