FIRST SEASON TWO IMAGES REVEALED

It was a successful series when it was launched at Hulu as their new Australian original exactly a year ago and now we have first images from the second season of period set series THE ARTFUL DODGER which is scheduled to arrive with new episodes next year February 10th and will again stream also on Disney Plus. As you know the series reimagines popular characters from Charles Dickens' classic "Oliver Twist" by moving them over to the penal colony of Port Victory, Australia. With Luke Bracey joining the cast as inspector Henry Boxer, Thomas Brodie-Sangster is back as Dr Jack Dawkins aka The Artful Dodger, David Thewlis as Norbert Fagin and Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox. Joining the cast are also Jeremy Sims as Uncle Dickie and Zac Burgess as Phineas Golden. 

 

 WHAT IS THE STORY OF THE SECOND SEASON?

Jack’s back! The Artful Dodger returns, and he’s in deep trouble. He’s got an appointment with the noose, he’s being hunted by Inspector Boxer, Port Victory’s new lawman, and if he sees the woman he loves, Lady Belle, he’ll be hanged.  Meanwhile, Lady Belle is determined to forge her future in medicine, defying expectation and stepping into danger, driven by ambition and a love already hanging in the balance. With Boxer competing with Jack for Belle’s affection, the crafty Fagin drags Dodger into their most dangerous heist yet, and a killer is on the loose. Get ready for an explosive season of new characters and locations with more thrills, humour, heart, invention and deception than ever.

British Channel 5 has sent us the first images from their new four part explosive twisty thriller mini television series THE IMPOSTER which will air in four consecutive weekdays from Monday December 15th till Thursday December 18th as their new Australian original. 

  WHAT IS THE STORY OF THE SERIES?

A sprawling seaside hotel sits at the heart of a dispute between matriarch Helen (Jackie Woodburne with the ugliest hairdo I have seen in a long time) and her three adult children, Simon (Don Hany), Kate (Jane Harber) and Ian (Jackson Gallagher). The kids want to sell to take  advantage of a lucrative deal from a buyer, but Helen is against the lucrative deal, despite her ailing health. But Helen also has a secret – an older child, Amanda (Kym Marsh), who she gave up for adoption in the UK before the other kids were born. When Amanda turns up out of the blue, Helen embraces her, believing she is the answer to her problems. But Amanda is actually an imposter, out to dupe Helen – in a plot that will lead to murder. Beside the Amadeus series from Sky with a rather strange choice of an Asian guy in the lead role, there is, as you know if you have been following us, another new series on the famous composer arriving next month: Beta Film's MOZART MOZART   a fresh and bold reimagining of the Mozart legacy. Replacing imperial series Sisi, which ended last year after four successful seasons, as the festive treat during the holidays, the series will start on German national broadcaster ARD1 December 12th and during Christmas on Austrian broadcaster ORF.

 

 REMIXING HISTORY

 the witty yet moving six hour series puts the spotlight on the talented Maria Anna Mozart (Havana Joy), the sister of the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Eren M. Guvercin). When her younger brother begins to spiral outof control, Maria Anna steps into his shoes to save the family’s legacy. When he is fired from a position in Salzburg, she sees a chance to escape the prospect of an arranged marriage by helping him secure a position at the court of Emperor Joseph II in Vienna. But Amadeus’ erratic behavior  jeopardizes their plan. So, she slips into the role of her brother, performing for the Emperor disguised as Amadeus – captivating the entire court and  drawing the envy of Mozart’s greatest rival, Antonio Salieri. But her bold stunt quickly gets out of control. Straight from Russia, the holy mother of all period set movies and series, come first images from their new historical movie RED GHOST 1812 (Красный призрак 1812) which should arrive sometime next year directed by dashing Andrei Bogatirev. Konstantin Plotnikov stars in the military adventure action film as a French army captain. The script of the film is based on the stories of Denis Davydov and the memoirs of generals about the Patriotic War of 1812. Oleg Savostyuk plays young nobleman Mikhail Romanovsky who seeks revenge on the foragers responsible for the death of his family. THE STORY OF THE FILM 

 The estate of young Prince Mikhail Razumovsky is mercilessly plundered by French foragers. The young man is saved from death by the Phantom, a lone partisan returning home and protecting civilians from marauders along the way. Dreaming of revenge, Mikhail sets out on a journey with the Phantom. He will learn the difference between heroism and duty, become the Phantom's apprentice, and then end his fight on his own, preventing a French counterattack and saving countless lives on both sides.

Brooke Satchwell leads the drama as Lillian Vandenberg, a woman struggling after the death of her fiancé who finds comfort in seeking out the recipients of his organs, triggering a tangled chain of connection.

 a doctor, is attacked by an ice addict, his fiancée Lillian turns off his life support. Months later, Lillian is still reeling in the aftermath of her fiancée’s death when she receives a letter from a man crushed by a motorbike, thanking her for his new heart. Suddenly, Lillian feels better. And she wants more of that feeling. Amadeus starts December 21st

Sky has revealed new trailer with Will Sharpe in the lead role in their AMADEUS mini series set within the musical hub of bustling Vienna at the end of the 18th century, where 25 year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arrives in the city no longer a child and determined to carve his own path. Recently unemployed and without the management of his father, Amadeus finds an unlikely ally in a young singer who will become his wife, fiery Constanze (Gabrielle Creevy). Her connections help bring him into the orbit of the court composer Antonio Salieri (Paul Bettany), setting the three of them on a collision course that will ultimately define their lives and their legacies for years to come. Hero of his own story but villain to history, Salieri’s envy turns vengeful as he uses any means necessary to thwart Mozart and protect his position in the establishment. A couple of new Australian dramas for you today, starting with ABC's TREASURE AND DIRT which will also air on BBC in UK starring Michael Dorman and Liv Hewson. He plays homicide detective Ivan Lucic who is sent to investigate the mysterious and grisly murder of a miner in an Outback opal town. Joined by rural detective Nell Buchanan, the two are drawn into a labyrinth of secrets, greed and old sins that won’t stay buried. As the case twists into something darker and more surreal, Ivan and Nell can’t tell whether it’s the town that’s unravelling or themselves. Eamon Farren and Dean O’Gorman also star.

 

 DUSTFALL WITH ANNA TORV

Also coming from ABC and also to air on BBC One as well next year is another six part drama DUSTFALL a propulsive, atmospheric Tropic Noir that follows Anna Torv as a detective whose deep sense of justice is challenged by a world where victims are doubted, predators hide in plain sight, and the legal system too often falls short. When seasoned detective Tig, returning to her hometown of North Gap after years in the city, uncovers a string of drink spiking assaults, the case is turned on its head when one of the main suspects is murdered. Juliet Stevenson and Jay Ryan also star.
