Channel 5 has released first image from their new mystery series LAST RESORT which follows retired librarian Gail (Caroline Quentin) as she takes her sister, Joy (Niamh Cusack), to an idyllic holiday town in what is supposed to be a fun-filled bucket list trip. Sadly, Joy is suffering from the early stages of dementia, so the sisters are keen to get the most out of every moment they have left together, inviting longtime friends Dee (Tessa Peake-Jones) and Charlie (Jason Watkins) along for the ride. However, these best-laid plans quickly go awry when tragedy strikes the local community, with police being quick to declare an unfortunate accident – but the group are convinced it is murder and set out to prove it. As old crimes surface and dark patterns emerge, the group of friends finds that this seemingly idyllic resort town – with its beach walks, pub lunches, and good-natured bickering – hides something far more sinister. Together they must piece together one devastating mystery and track down a killer who has been hunting in this close-knit coastal community and beyond! John Hannah plays a cop. 

 

THE OTHER BENNET SISTER XMAS SPECIAL

BBC is, meanwhile, wishing you a Mary Christmas! Their popular costume drama THE OTHER BENNET SISTER is returning for a three-part special this Christmas. Ella Bruccoleri returns as Mary, with a host of other familiar faces from the series. The series offers a fresh take on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Forced to step out of her sisters' shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way. BritBox is airing it in USA.

New sitcom will stream this July

About a year ago I told you that Netflix has ordered sixteen episodes of a new multicamera sitcom LEANNE from Chuck Lorre which will see comedienne Leanne Morgan lead the comedy and now we have the first trailer and a launch date on July 31st. She will play a woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad. Kristen Johnston will play her completely opposite sister Carol who twice divorced with no kids, and if there’s a choice between going to church and going to a bar, she will always choose the latter. Despite their differences, Carol is fiercely loyal to her sister and is her ride or die. Celia Weston,Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers and Hannah Pilkes. Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez and Blake Gibbons will recur. NEW CAST ADDED TO TIM ALLEN'S COMEDY

Froy Gutierrez will star in new Tim Allen sitcom

Tim Allen's new mutlicamera sitcom over at ABC titled SHIFTING GEARS in which he plays the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop whose estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her teenage kids move into his house, and the real restoration begins, has added Froy Gutierrez as Nick, Matt’s son and Riley’s younger brother. He’s a game coder but put his life on hold to come home and help his father at the shop. Daryl Mitchell will star as Ed, described as “a former Marine. He’s a mechanic at the shop!

Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad. In the 16 episode sitcom Johnston will play her completely opposite sister Carol who twice divorced with no kids, and if there’s a choice between going to church and going to a bar, she will always choose the latter. Despite their differences, Carol is fiercely loyal to her sister and is her ride or die.
