Comedy movie from Sharon Maguire has got a stellar cast: Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, David Tennant, Laura Linney, Jason Watkins, will star in THE JOY OF SEX about the famous 1972 sex manual, which was a scandalous sensation, selling more than 15 million copies worldwide, spending 70 weeks at the top of the New York Times bestseller list. Sex in the suburbs was never the same again. The movie charts the hilarious, heartbreaking and incredible true story of how this most unusual of recipe books was born, spotlighting the eccentric and interesting characters behind the book.

Channel 5 has released first image from their new mystery series LAST RESORT which follows retired librarian Gail (Caroline Quentin) as she takes her sister, Joy (Niamh Cusack), to an idyllic holiday town in what is supposed to be a fun-filled bucket list trip. Sadly, Joy is suffering from the early stages of dementia, so the sisters are keen to get the most out of every moment they have left together, inviting longtime friends Dee (Tessa Peake-Jones) and Charlie (Jason Watkins) along for the ride. However, these best-laid plans quickly go awry when tragedy strikes the local community, with police being quick to declare an unfortunate accident – but the group are convinced it is murder and set out to prove it. As old crimes surface and dark patterns emerge, the group of friends finds that this seemingly idyllic resort town – with its beach walks, pub lunches, and good-natured bickering – hides something far more sinister. Together they must piece together one devastating mystery and track down a killer who has been hunting in this close-knit coastal community and beyond! John Hannah plays a cop. 

 

THE OTHER BENNET SISTER XMAS SPECIAL

BBC is, meanwhile, wishing you a Mary Christmas! Their popular costume drama THE OTHER BENNET SISTER is returning for a three-part special this Christmas. Ella Bruccoleri returns as Mary, with a host of other familiar faces from the series. The series offers a fresh take on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Forced to step out of her sisters' shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way. BritBox is airing it in USA. 

 

 

LEANNE SEASON TWO ARRIVES AUGUST 

Netflix has announced the return of their multicamera sitcom LEANNE for August 27th with Leanne Morgan returning as Leanne whose world is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years unexpectedly leaves her for another woman. Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Kristen Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter and hope in the most unexpected places. Lainey Wilson, Jaime Pressley and Billy Gardel are guest stars in the new season.

London book keeper turned investigator with Polly Walker as his wife and gorgeous Connor Finch as his right hand and todaywe have the first teaser from the second season which is scheduled to arrive later this summer. Joining them in new season are Miranda Richardson,Jason Watkins, Rupert Graves to name just some of the more famous names. Returning cast also includes Elliot Levey as Inspector Bliss, Blake Harrison as Sergeant Morris and Buket Kömür as Nora. The series also sees the return of Rosie Cavaliero as Ada Dredge, Gerard Horan as Mr Baseheart, Nadia Albina as Dr Calder and Jonas Nay as Felix.

Book investigates the world of spiritualism when he’s asked to help solve the mysterious case involving medium, Harold Sneed (Watkins). Off Savile Row, Bliss asks Book to help in a puzzling murder at a gentleman’s outfitters - the elderly tailor Maxie Kleinmann is keen to confess to the murder, but the evidence doesn’t quite stack up and points to something much more complex and sinister. And Book and Jack are sent to the seemingly charming German village of Würl by the mysterious ‘E’ to thwart a thieving Duchess (Richardson) at Christmas time. However, festivities take a deadly turn when Book and Jack uncover secrets of their own, past and present, in an ominous castle brimming with plausible murder suspects. Book’s close association to the police continues to be not without its personal dangers and his lavender marriage with childhood best friend Trottie, is threatened by debonair Colonel Winters (Graves). Marrying post-war nostalgia with the reckless and life affirming atmosphere of the times, Bookish is a stylish period detective drama with a difference

Currently in limited cinematic release in United Kingdom and Ireland after visiting a number of movie festivals throughout the world earlier this year and winning awards is movie drama DRAGONFLY with Brenda Blethyn and Andrea Riseborough in the lead roles. Paul Andrew Williams both wrote and directed the film in which Brenda plays neglected pensioner Elsie who finds an unexpected ally in her younger neighbour Colleen. Over time, a friendship grows but Elsie's resentful, guilt-ridden son stirs up tensions bringing shocking consequences. Jason Watkins also stars in the movie as Elsie's son.

As Huw attempts to settle into retirement, the case is never far from his mind – and when new neighbor, Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in and utters the chilling phrase ‘catch you later’ – the sign off the stalker used to taunt Huw during the investigation – Huw is determined he’s finally got his man.

Channel 5 has sent us the first images from their new mini series COMA which delves into the consequences of one fateful decision and the unforeseen chaos that ensues. In it, Simon (Jason Watkins), a devoted family man, finds himself at a breaking point as his neighbourhood falls victim to the terrorising antics of a group of teenagers, led by the menacing 17-year-old Jordan Franklin (Joe Barber), and his questionable companions. Simon and his wife, Beth (Claire Skinner), are desperate to move their young daughter to a safer area away from the threatening atmosphere. When Simon's frustration reaches its peak and he confronts Jordan outside his own home, a split-second decision changes everything. Airing this month it also stars David Bradley as Simon’s quiet grumpy neighbour Harry, Jonas Armstrong as Jordan’s dangerous father Paul, Kayla Meikle as determined DS Kelly, and David Mumeni as Simon’s untrustworthy boss Jimmy. The series will officially start March 18th!
