Sandokan arrives this December to RAI

Lux Vide and Italian Broadcaster Rai are ready to premiere their new epic TV adaptation of famous SANDOKAN  this December so we have the first trailer with Turkish heartthrob Can Yaman in the lead role of the famous adventurer. Alanah Bloor, Ed Westwick, Alessandro Preziosi, John Hannah also star beside him.

Can Yaman takes the lead role

 only for himself and for his crew, including the trusted Yanez. But his life changes when he meets Marianna, the beautiful daughter of Labuan’s British consul during a raid. It is the beginning of an impossible love story between two similar souls: Marianna, of European and noble blood, but with the wild spirit of those who grew up in a tropical paradise, and Sandokan, pirate and adventurer, who without knowing it carries within himself the blood of ancient warrior kings. On their trail will be the legendary pirate hunter Lord James Brooke, who will stop at nothing to capture Sandokan and win Mariana’s heart. The protagonists will fight for themselves and for their love, but soon they will understand that they are part of a much greater story: that of apeople who fight for freedom and for the salvation of unspoiled nature... And this people, the Dayak, seek a leader who can save them. For this reason Sandokan will be called to be much more than a pirate: he will have to become the legendary Tiger of Malaysia.

While we are waiting for his Sandocan series, Turkish super star Can Yaman is hitting broadcasters around the world from March 21st with historical adventure EL TURCO  a six-episode series with international cast including actors from nine different countries! From this weekend it is available on Voyo in Romania, on IVI in Russia, and on Globoplay Brazil. In Italy  it is out March 27 on Mediaset’s Canale 5. It will also start March 23 on Teleonce in Honduras and on April 2 on Gaín in Turkey. It will also start April 18 on Starz in the Middle East and North Africa.

Can Yaman plays 17th Ottoman soldier Hasan Balaban, who was wounded during the Turkish army’s campaign to conquer Vienna in 1683 and ended up some 200 kilometers away in the Italian Alpine village of Moena. Nicknamed “El Turco” by the villagers, he led the locals to a clamorous revolt against unfair taxes that made him a local hero. In the 17th century, the villagers erected a monument to the Turkish janissary on their main square, where during the first week of August they still hold the Moena Turkish Festival to celebrate “El Turco”. The show, which will have airing dates for other regions announced in due time also stars Will Kemp, David Nykl, Kieran O’Reilly, Veronica Ferres, Slavko Sobin, Nick Wittman, Caroline Boulton and Maddalena Aragão.

Showing next week at London TV Screenings open market are many interesting new series  and among them is COLD WATER which sees Andrew Lincoln returning to TV. Done for ITV Studios, it sees him play John, repressed and raging at his stay-at-home life, who moves his family to rural idyll Coldwater. There he is befriended by Tommy, a neighbor, a seeming pillar of the community, blissfully unaware that Tommy is harbouring horrifying secrets.

Also being offered to the buyers in London next week is new adventure TV series remake of famous SANDOKAN who is this time played by Turkish heartthrob Can Yaman and with Ed Westwick and John Hannah also starring in the series inspired by the novel series of Emilio Salgari! Borneo in the mid-19th century is a paradise inhabited by the indigenous Dayak tribes, who live according to their ancient traditions but are ruled by the ruthless laws of the British Empire at the height of its colonial power. Sandokan lives from day to day without taking sides. He fights for himself and his pirate crew, which includes his loyal friend Yanez. But his life changes when he meets Marianne, the beautiful daughter of the British consul in Labuan, during a raid. It is the beginning of an impossible love story between two unexpectedly similar souls: Marianne, of noble blood but with the wild spirit of someone who grew up in a tropical paradise, and Sandokan, pirate leader and adventurer who carries the blood of warrior kings. On their trail is the legendary pirate hunter Lord James Brooke, who will stop at nothing to capture Sandokan and win Marianne's heart. 

THE SENTINELS FROM FRANCE

France is, meanwhile, bringing over to London a fantasy series set in First World War THE SENTINELS which will air in France on Canal +. On a WW1 battlefield French Private Gabriel (Louis Peres) is wounded. His family is told he is dead. In fact, he has been chosen to be part of a secret research program to create a new kind of soldier. Inoculated with a mysterious serum, when he awakens, Gabriel is stronger and faster than a normal human. He is recruited into The Sentinels, a band of elite fighters. Based on the Xavier Dorison and Enrique Breccia graphic novels, the French-language drama launches on Canal+ in France later this year according to Deadline.

While we are waiting for his Sandocan series, Turkish super star Can Yaman has another epic series in his sleeve: historical adventure EL TURCO which had it's world launch over at Mipcom TV Market in Cannes last Autumn and should hit the small screens March 21st in Italy, Turkey, Brazil and Russia. The English language drama was originally done for Disney Plus but they opted out of it and the series will be shopped elsewhere. The six-episode series which aims to be international with cast including actors from nine different countries will combine history, action-adventure and romance done by Turkish distributor Madd Entertainment, who are planning for the show to get a global release this spring. sides, leading his motley crew that includes trusted sidekick Yanez de Gomera (Alessandro Preziosi). Everything changes during a raid when Sandokan intersects and elopes with Marianne (Alanah Bloor), the daughter of the British consul (John Hannah). Pirate hunter Lord James Brooke, (Ed Westwick) will stop at nothing to capture Sandokan and win Marianne’s heart. Also in the cast are Madeleine Price, Gilberto Gliozzi, Mark Grosy  and Samuele Segreto.

Balaban, a soldier in the Janissary army, which consisted of European slaves forcefully converted to Islam, serves as an Ottoman intelligence officer. The Ottoman army loses the Battle of Vienna in 1683, and he is taken prisoner. After he escapes, he is found wounded and rescued by the people of Moena, a small town in northern Italy. He settles there and organizes a peasant uprising against the feudal overlords who oppressed and overtaxed the people. Knowing his Ottoman origins, they nicknamed him El Turco.
