In today's casting news, according to "The Hollywood Reporter", British star Ewan McGregor has joined Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts
inAUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. Based on the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by Tracy Letts the story of the movie follows the relationship between a pill-popping mother (Streep) and her family. Julia Roberts will play her daughter whose estranged husband will be played by McGregor. He plays a professor who left his wife for one of his students at a college he teaches. Other cast members include Abigail Breslin, Dermot Mulroney, Benedict Cumberbatch and Juliette Lewis.
  HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
In short news today from Tinseltown: British songstress Adele has apparently been seen in a London studio fuelling recent rumours that she might be recording the lead song for new James Bond film SKYFALL. She did recently admit that she will have a song come out before the end of 2012 and the film is out later this October. Meanwhile, the prequel to legendary Spartan epic 300 has changed its name from BATTLE OF ARTEMISIA to RISE OF AN EMPIRE which seems fitting since it will tell the story of the rise of the Persian ruler Xerxes and about his first battles against the Greeks. Australian hunk Sullivan Stapleton will play the lead role of Greek General Themistocles who led Athens against Persian invaders and their king Xerxes to be played again by Rodrigo Santoro, while Eva Green will play the evil sorceress Artemisia who talked Xerxes into his evil deeds.
  SHANNARA TV SERIES
Oh, my, this is good news indeed. It seems that after prematurely killed LEGEND OF THE SEEKER we shall see another epic fantasy saga turn into a television series: a few years ago I reported that SHANNARA fantasy novels
by Terry Brooks will be adapted into a Mike Newell film, but now "Variety" reports that it will be made into a TV show by Sonar Entertainment.  The first season of the SHANNARA TV show will be based on the second tome of the saga “The Elfstones of Shannara”. The story takes place hundreds of years in the future, after modern human civilization has been laid to ruin following a cataclysmic event known as the Great Wars. Humans live in a Medieval state where magic exists alongside science, while mystical creatures such as elves and trolls populate the Earth. Most of the main characters in Brooks’ novels are members of the Shannara clan, a noble lineage with mixed heritage of man and Elf that allows them to wield magic.

  1. Dezzy - Ahhhhh, that's the best news ever! I love the SHANNARA series. Shea and Flick are two of my fav characters. Terry Brooks is one of my all-time favorite authors. *done gushing*

Love Adele, and Ewan as well. Great post. =)

    1. fingers crossed that the project really happens. Terry is producing himself, but they will start shopping the series to networks only after they find a director and a show runner.

  2. I still haven't read the Shannara series. I know, bad me!!! One day soon.

And that is a gorgeous picture of Adele. She looks like a John Waterhouse painting.

    1. I think it has hundred books or something like that :)
I adore that photoshoot of hers. She did it for the celebratory VOGUE earlier this year. It's funny that the previous VOGUE which features her on the cover was the worst sold VOGUE in history :( I'm not an overly huge fan of Adele's but I hate the world in which morons would flock to buy magazines with emptyheaded pop tarts and starlets but not with a regular singer like she is :(

    2. there, I had to add another photo from that session into the post just for you :)

    3. Another gorgeous photo. I like Adele's music, but it's a little overplayed now. I'll be happy to hear something new from her.

    4. agreed, I only like SET FIRE TO THE RAIN song from her.

  4. I really like Adele. She is a beauty and so talented and intelligent.

August: Osage County sounds like a great drama and I love the casting of MacGregor.

How exciting for all of us Seeker fans. Let's hope they give this a chance. Whatever happened to the cast of Seeker? I know you've mentioned them in the past.

    1. she really is perdy!
Well, the ladies from SEEKER had some roles in other shows, and I mean Tabbreth and Bridget, but Craig is jobless for reasons unknown. It's beyond me why he didn't get some role on US TV he is very charismatic and cute and warm.

    2. That is a shame about Craig. He really is gorgeous. You know he would make a good werewolf in one of my stories. ;) He served as inspiration for Nathan in Nathan's Angel.

    3. that's a lovely piece of info, Melsy. You know that my biggest love from the show was Craig Parker and I really hope he gets some great gig again after SPARTACUS. I'm not sure I can live without him on TV :( It is still beyond me why Craig Horner is jobless and why Tabby Bethel isn't the queen of the world.... and why Jessica Marais isn't my best friend :)

  8. First things first-Ewan-nom, nom, nom. I love Streep as well, but why oh why did they have to cast Julia dog face Roberts in the film. I'll just ignore her as the other two are too good to miss.

Rise of An Empire has real potential I think.

We're still not definite on the Shannara series though are we. Brooks is a great writer of fantasy and I hope he gets this off the ground.

    1. We do love Ewan, and I love this pic of his. I tend to chose GQ pics when it comes to my gents and COSMO or VOGUE ones for my ladies :) The only good thing is that Ewan cheats on Julia in the film :)

I hope SHANNARA isn't as grim and morbidly dark as GAME OF THRONES.

    2. I like it when Julia's characters get shat upon!

I'm the only person in the free world who hasn't seen Game of Thrones darling. Me is so backwards!!

    3. you're not missing anything, darling, that show is rather dreadful and I say that as one of world's biggest expert on epic and historical series :)) It's grim, morbidly dark, has nothing light nor positive in it, most of the actors are bad, the story is boring, direction bad, and even the settings aren't all that lovely. I mostly watch it for the dragon queen and the King of the North. It is very mediocre and that is why people like it, unlike me.

  9. I'm looking forward to the 300 sequel, so long as Snyder is back at the helm :)

    1. he is not, Jamie, some relatively unknown Latino guy is directing, Snyder is only producing.

  10. i must have been in a dark basement... i know no one in this post from actors to singers. how sad for me, thank you for bringing the light to my dank dark room in the basement. the real question why has no one let me out or the very least ask what happened to me... someone should question my wife. and... and i am on dial-up that is the worst of everything.

wow and this was just the voices talkin'... great post, thank you. great news.

  13. Skyfall? New Bond film? Hadn't heard of this. It sounds like the title of a science fiction or post-apocalyptic film. Actually though that could be the direction Bond films have been taking.
