MAX BROWN TOPLINES
'HIEROGLYPH' HISTORICAL SERIES
Over last few months I've been informing you of the casting process for our most anticipated historical show HIEROGLYPH from Fox, but all that time we were waiting for the lead actor to be announced! And here he is: British actor Max Brown, whom we remember from THE TUDORS, SPOOKS and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, will topline the show set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality are intertwined! The story follows Ambrose (Max Brown), a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh (Reece Ritchie), navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers. The 13 episode epic series will also have John Rhys Davies, Kelsey Chow, Condola Rashad, Caroline Ford in the cast!
SANTA CLAUS AND VIKINGS
IN 'WINTER'S KNIGHT' EPIC FILM
And since Vikings are definitely trendy these days, Sony Pictures has just paid stunning one million bucks for a high concept script WINTER'S KNIGHT which will explore Santa Claus' origins in Norse mythology! They also have Nordic directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning (they did Oscar nominated KON TIKI and are now working on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES) in mind as helmers. There aren't many details on the plot, but it is known that the epic movie would explore the origins of Santa Clause and Christmas in Viking tradition. Many studios have fought battles for this script. The two directors are also directing extremely expensive MARCO POLO historical series for Netflix!

OSCARS 2014 FASHION REPORT
BEST DRESSED STARS
How did you like the fashion at last night's OSCARS 2014? If you ask me, Cate Blanchett wasn't just the winner of the evening with Best Actress Oscar, but also the winner at the Red Carpet in her Armani crystal studded gown! Camila Alves, Matthew McConaughey's love, also looked stunning in draped dress, while Sandra Bullock and Pink had lovely gowns in lovely colours!
NOT BAD, NOT BAD
Not badly looking, but not stunning either, were Meryl Streep, Amy Adams who disappointed a bit looking uninspired, while Angelina Jolie and Kristin Chenoweth looked decent in gold. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga looked normal for once, Jenna Dewan, Olga Kurylenko and Kate Hudson also looked refined and lovely.
THE WORST DRESSED
The worst dressed was Pharell Williams, whose horrid outfit was even offensive if you ask me. Jennifer Lawrence and Naomi Watts were overly simple, Charlize Theron again had an overly weird gown, while Julia Roberts looked a bit funeralish. Emma Watson and Anne Hathaway always lack style, but absolute freak of the evening among ladies was Anna Kendrick!
The best dressed one there was Ellen! Loved that stylish black suit and the white suit with scarf too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen her, I just followed the red carpet since Oscars are aired here in Central Europe at 2.30am at night :)
DeleteI always look forward to your awards show dress wrap up. My fave was Lupita. But I liked Charlize's! She looks stunning in anything! :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add Lupita, but I have to admit that she deeply dissapointed me with her gown. She was so amazing at Globes and Baftas and I expected something special now, but she looked washed out :(
DeleteAs always, some take the carpet by storm - and none more so than Benedict Cumberbatch who even managed to pull off the swarve look whilst jumping in the air photobombing (or CUMBERBOMBING) a photo of U2. Hilarious stuff...gotta love him :)
DeleteI haven't seen him, but I positively adored Ewan McGregor with new longer hair, so handsome!
DeleteI agree that Cate Blanchett won the Red Carpet look, that was a gorgeous dress that even Galadriel would envy. Must have looked even more beautiful in person with all the crystals. I thought Emma Watson's dress was too "old" for her, she's a young woman and that dress was more appropriate for someone much older.
ReplyDeleteI think she knew she would win and decided to look stunning for the history :) Emma never had any style, like she has no talent :)
DeleteI too was on the red carpet, wait no I wasn't we opted to keep resting and watch DIE HARD, well more of a marathon!
ReplyDeleteyes, and I know how Academy was begging you to appear, but they really don't produce Swarovsky crystal studded foot casts :)
Deletegotta have my bling! :)
Deletebut of course
DeleteBlanchett does look pretty.
ReplyDeleteAll bow to our ethereal Elven queen! Her dressed was studded with stars which Elven starhunters took down from midnight sky for her :)
DeleteI think you hit the nail on the head with that one, Dezzy. Well said.
Deletethe coon has spoken :)
DeleteMy favs were the midnight blue dresses Sandra Bullock and Amy Adams wore. Very sophisticated. :))
ReplyDeleteSandy is usually hit or miss, but this time it was hit hit hit :) It had such simple but sexy ellegance!
DeleteI will have VANITY FAIR OSCAR PARTY fashion report tomorrow :)
Oh, and I don't know if you saw the show, but I cringed when Ellen brought out the pizza. I was so scared someone would drop a greasy slice of pepperoni on their designer dress. It's exactly what would have happened had it been me. :P #bornclutz
DeleteGah. No lie, I just took a sip of tea and spilled it down my shirt. See, that's why I can't go out in public. :P
DeleteI saw a picture of Brad Pitt giving pizza to Meryl. But I haven't watched the show itself since it starts when it's 2.30 am here :( I heard it was boring as usually
DeleteMy favourites were ...Cate Blanchett (that goes without saying!) Sandra Bullock, Kate Hudson and Charlize Theron.
ReplyDeleteDidn't like ... (hate to say this) Meryl Streep. Pharell Williams looked positively ridiculous, and Emma Watson whose dress was rather blah ...
Excellent post, Dezzy!
I'm rather disgusted by Pharell, not just those shorts, but also that stupid outfit and hat he wore while performing. Cannot stand such idiotic hillbillies.
DeleteEverybody seems to agree on Blanchett :)
Sandra Bullock's dress was my favorite, followed by Jennifer Lawrence's. I think she looked extremely classy.
ReplyDeleteLawrence classy? That would be the first for her :PP Sandra did look brilliant
DeleteCate and Sandra looked lovely but God, what was Angelina thinking? That dress does nothing for her - ugh.
ReplyDeleteit's an Elie Saab dress, beautiful on itself, but not on Angelina. I think she put it on to cover up her anorexia and thin arms
DeleteHieroglyph has always intrigued me, but geez, it's hard to spell.
ReplyDeleteI thought Pharell looked like such a goofball in those shorts. Just wrong and disrespectful. And why does he keep wearing that park ranger hat?
I've learnt how to spell it thanks to this show :)
DeletePharell is just an idiot
Anna Kendrick's dress looked odd.
ReplyDeleteLol @ Lady Gaga. Yes, she did look normal. Those best-dressed have such lovely gowns.
it was the ugliest dress that evening :)
DeleteGlad you liked the best dressed ones
Hands down, Cate Blanchette smoked all the other looks. Though I do love Jenna Dewan's dress. I am disappointed in Jennifer Lawrence's dress choice. The orange color is just horrid. The whole dress is just "blaaaa".
ReplyDeleteLawrence almost always has such blah choices. I don't understand her style
DeleteI don't know who that Williams guy is but psuedo-shorts for a tux is pretty bad. Wearing it to the Oscars is in really terrible taste.
ReplyDeletehe is a rude rapper and obviously a hillbilly
DeleteI'd have to say my favorite of the best dressed was Sandra Bullock. She looked elegant.
ReplyDeletewe do love her midnight blue look!
DeleteI like Pink the best. The Spawn saw her in concert last month and said Pink was marvelous. Pink has never turned to being trashy and slutty to have a career. And she is a positive role model for girls.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that Charlize doesn't know how to dress for the Red Carpet. She is so beautiful.
She isn't slutty, but she certainly is trashy because her biggest hits are based on trashing her colleagues or ridiculing her own private life. And she is also rude and aggressive, but I do agree that she is a better role model because she is not so superficial as other pop stars and she doesn't go overly vulgar and is also an amazing song writer.
DeleteThe best dresses were Kate Hudson's and Sandra Bullocks's for me!
ReplyDeleteI guess Jennifer Lawrence wanted to look less "amazing" then last year (during which she was a perfect princess).
I'm glad GaGa was classy for once, it looks good on her. Angelina Jolie could have done better (although the outfit looks nice, it fits better women aged 50. She can definitely afford more feminine gowns).
As usual, love your best / worst dressed!!
glad you enjoyed the report :)
DeleteI do agree that Gaga is less gaga when she puts on some more elegant outfits.
Sandra Bullock looked really classy. I can't believe she's over 50!
ReplyDeleteshe's only 49 :) Will be 50 this summer :) Last year at the Oscars she was terribly botoxed, but now her face looked more natural.
DeleteSo many women... so little health... I mean time.
ReplyDeleteyou need four of eight blue hands to manage all :)
